Fidler's Epic Building Challenge

The time has come for builders to bring all their skills to bare. A challenge that will find the most rounded out builders, the real stars of the builder's community. Every good builder has a certain type of home that they are great at building, but what about three different styles of homes for just one challenge. How many of you can rise up to meet the goal. This time the judges will be their peers and any simmer who wishes to vote. Are you that builder? Show us what your made of and build, build and build. Whew!!!

Here Are The Rules:

1. There are three categories that each entrant must build:

Beach Bum Beach House

Country House

Victorian Fairy Tale

2. There are three awards; 1st Place Gold; 2nd Place Silver; 3rd Place Bronze. There is no amateur or pro competition for this challenge.

3. Entries are to be entered on this thread with entry link and media link.

4. All entries will be decided by a a vote count. All simmers who wish to vote may contact: ruthless_KK at her Simmers Society Page through Private Message. The link is:

The votes are meant to be by secret ballet unless a simmer wishes to let their votes be known. The secret ballet is simply to protect simmers votes if they wish not to reveal them.

5. All simmers who wish to vote, can cast three votes; one for each of the categories.

6. Entrants may use this thread to publicize their work by posting photos. Please be sure that the photos are resized so that they do not distort the page they're on.

7. This is a two month challenge. The challenge will end on March 15, 2011. Because of time differences, I will allow entries up to March 16, 2011 at U.S. Pacific time of 6AM.

8. (Rule Change) There will be a 10 day grace period to announce results as we have in the past. The reason being to allow simmers a chance to look at the entries and decide who they vote for. Entrants can use this opportunity to promote their entries even further if they wish.

9. There will be no play testing, unless the simmers wish to play test the entries themselves to help determine who they vote for.

10. Entrants are also allowed to vote.

11. There is no budget limit or any kind of building limit.

12. Entrants can only enter one challenge unless they also belong to a team.

13 Teams are allowed and entrants can enter both a team effort and a individual effort, but no two of the same.

14. Custom Content will be allowed for this challenge, but remember entrants; custom content may effect your votes. As they say; it's all up to the voters.

15. Also, please enter both your entry and media at the same time to avoid confusion. Entries or media individually will not be entered until both have been entered on the same post.

16.All entries must be new.

Since this type of a challenge is a first for me; I may have to amend or add rules as we go along. I will inform everyone with a new post if that happens. It will be because of good reason if I do. It's just the fact that I may see things that were not anticipated.

Above all; this challenge is about having fun. I will be naming someone soon, before the voting gets started, that will keep track of all the votes. It will be someone that I and others have confidence in as far as their integrity. This is a Fidler Challenge and integrity of the vote is important.

What a great idea!!! I love the idea of medals pasted to your siggy! I hope I have time to enter! I have been wanting to just go crazy with cfe on something and deck it out so this might be perfect.

It took me most of the day to get this posted as I was having our usual trouble with posting on the forum. Finally got it here.

Is this the first you've heard of this challenge? I've been talking about it for days.

This looks really great, I hope I have time to build something. I seem to get sidetracked on larger builds, but maybe have something to work towards will help. I'm glad you finally got to post it, fidlerten.

Hey Sherry,

You've got a month with this challenge. Also you guys can team up if you want or you can work alone. Whatever you want to do as the rules are really lax.

Hi darkside,

I would suggest to only show limited photos so that you don't give everything away. I suppose that's part of the challenge.

Will some of you steal each others ideas? Hmm! You already do all the time; don't you? LOL!!!

Just remember that originality is also one of the judging points.

I'm off to bed now as I'm really tired from trying to get on here for so long.

What a great idea.
I do have a palace already.

But I didn't play test it, nor its completely furnished.
Oh well, I don't think I will entre with this one.

I wish if I could make a new one.
But I have RL commitments, and won't be here for about a month. I won't be able to check that often.

Well, good luck for the entries from me.
I am sure everyone will do a fab job.

OK, I was hesitant to ask this question before when I first heard of the challenge, but...

I *just* finished my mansion... but it's on a 40x40 lot. Can I still use it, or am I going to have to create a new one? I suppose I *could* move it to a 60x60 lot, but that would pretty much ruin the landscaping I already have.

I don't think I have it in me to create another mansion; I usually stay away from those builds because of the amount of time and effort needed to do it complete. I much prefer the one to two-night challenges that I can finish around my work schedule.

Oh well, if I enter or not, it is a good challenge, and I look forward to everyone's results

Hey Light,

I suggest you check your email occasionally. I sent you one about this challenge probably about a week ago or so. I don't quite remember. I was going to ask you to judge it along with tm1 and ruthless but if you're not going to be back by the 20th, then I will need to find someone else. Is that the case?

It's really up to you. As long as a mansion meets the requirements is all that matters.

Garbuckle...you could always move it to a 60x60 and just rework the landscaping,after all you have a month and who knows what you may come up with just relandscaping it...lol

*EDIT*..nevermind,if its Briston Hall,then i may as well not compete.theres no way i could beat that one.

Fidler...whats the ruling gonna be on custom content...it will show in the media,but unless you or judges have all the items,it will not be there when you download it.

I thought of that issue but I wasn't sure how to address it. I didn't want to entirely rule no cc at all but you're right, it probably is an issue that might effect a final review of a house.

Is there any suggestions from anyone concerning the use of cc in a house?

Like I said to darkside; have confidence in yourself. You've got allot of talent, I've seen it.

Well i see two options for this

- the easiest would be to not allow custom content and maybe also no store items.
- the other wich would be the hard way is that there need to be a list with all links and description of the cc so jury and also later downloaders are able to get that cc.

i personally prefer the first option because i don't care about custom content, i'm still happy with the original game content, people should use more imagination instead of consume and downloading other peoples imaginations.
