I keep meaning to check into this one of the streamers I follow was playing it in closed beta I just am never able to stay up for their streams these days lol.
I can't play it until it hits switch or I fix/replace my laptop (switch sounds more likely lol). Might be worth a try then though.
I am actually not that familiar with similar games like stardew valley or animal crossing but I have played sandbox survival games like Subnautica so that's the part which I am liking the most with the beta so far because it is giving me similar vibes with you being able to go out in the world and find resources to craft things which in turn unlocks more things to craft and find.
The crafting system is actually pretty deep so you get that nice feeling that you only need a few more materials to unlock the next tier which in turn unlocks more things that you can use out in the world and use to do quests for villagers. It creates a similar addictive feeling that I felt when I was playing Subnautica. Instead of building a home base you are building a house for yourself with lots of different furniture that you can unlock and craft.
There is a lot of other things to unlock with a lot of activities such as farming, hunting, fishing, mining and bug catching and on top of that there are also sidequests and stories relating to where you came from as a human.
I am not that familiar with the MMO part, I have not collaborated a lot with players and I have not seen people do much together, from what I know you can do things like cooking together. You can also befriend the villagers and romance them but from what I have seen there has not been much to it except that you can talk to them and give them gifts. The game is also designed a bit so you can't unlock things too fast, it takes time to create things like copper bars and wood planks for example but you can do other activities while those items are being created.
The game is pretty good, I like it. It has a lot of potential.
I played about 10-15 minutes on my PC. It meets recommend requirements so I ran it on default high settings. As someone who's played WoW for years, this felt like a mild MMO. I can't really describe it. Obviously that's a very short amount of time to play. I don't have the hard drive space currently to spare so I just hope it's free to play on the switch. I'm spoiled when it comes to running games on ultra settings. I can see this as being a cozy game even for those who are not familiar with MMOs.
It's the best part of MMOs - crafting! I too played WoW for years, and others - crafting was always my highest skills lmao. I also play Wurm Online, when I can, which has combat - but it's nice being able to collect things without aggroing 30 mobs lmao.
