Should I Keep Playing My Current Save?

I am so anxious for the Infants to join my game, I intend to roll back my Main Save to the point before Erik's first baby was born. In the meantime, should I keep playing my current save?

I love the scenarios. They don't take much time to play through but can function as a jumping off point, and the newest ones with the premade families are really nifty.

Another poster mentioned making an Alternate Universe type save if I remember correctly. I don't post as often as a lurk but that stuck out to me. I've often considered doing the same thing myself, it sounds like a lot of fun.

I was going to suggest a scenario in your Stuck thread but couldn't remember if you liked that feature.

Kudos for sticking with Erik for so long. I've been playing the same family for a few years but ever so often I'll move some family members out and concentrate on one. Then another. Then they'll all reunite for a while.

I'm just postponing Erik's story for a bit, until the Infants drop. Then I'll be right back at it. I'm just trying to sort out ways to wait somewhat patiently for the new year, and here's to hoping they don't keep us waiting for too long. I've never felt a need to play a Scenario as I've always seen them as ways to help new players get into the game. But, that's tickling my brain as a possible way to keep playing to help time pass, and not get too attached to another household so I can't tear myself away when the Time comes, you know? Plus, I could write about what's going on to keep the Muse happy, too.

Scenarios can be a blast. I've done several, including the Millionaire and Plant Sim. My 1st millionaire sim was a kleptomaniac and that was fun to work with. For Plant Sims, I moved 6 sims onto the shipwreck lot in Sulani. Judith Ward was my Plant Sim and I kept them all busy gardening and catching fish. No electricity and they could only eat what they caught or harvested. Once I finished that I rolled straight into the millionaire scenario again and they ended with about 12 or so money trees. Poor Bob Pancakes drowned at sea because he kept sneaking off to go swimming.

Okay, you just helped me to make up my mind. I'm attempting the Unlucky Chef Scenario and created my own Sim for the challenge. But, twenty minutes in I'm already bored. I need more than one Sim in a game, else boredom sets in really fast. This is why I play full households. I need the chaos, apparently. LOL

So did you decide what you're going to do?

    Keep Playing with Aging Off
I'd just keep going with aging off. Of course that's easy for me to say I never turn aging on.

you could also create erik or the other family members some new friends to hangout with and play them until the infants take over

I’m similar to you @GalacticGal in that I prefer big households! There are other scenarios which have more than one Sim.

Actually, I have spent the rest of the day getting my Ancestral game set up. I'm also thinking of making seasons last a full 28 days, to stall this save a bit. Having a blast at the moment. Fixed the front walkway of Toll House Farm and am pleased with the results. Finally found a proper everyday outfit for the females for the American 18th century garb. (Working class clothes.) Yay. Seems if I wait long enough in between playing this save, some of the stuff I hunt for is suddenly there. :)

Play a Scenario just for fun?
I started a scenario rotational save when scenarios came out, with some new different commercial/community lots. It still has a lot of lots open. It’s been fun making the new sims for the save, playing the new scenario’s, and making or downloading new lots. I have used some careers I haven’t used in my main rotational save. And, it’s fun switching around. I play with aging off most of the time on both of them….. lol!

I was torn between other or playing with aging off. I chose other because you could play a different save in the meantime while you wait for the infants. I'm not sure of how you like to play, but I know when there's something coming to the game and I want my current save or main save to enjoy those features, I'll either play a different game or start a new save in the sims to pass the time by.

For instance I want the HSY pack for my decades challenge but I'm waiting on it to go on sale because I really just want the CAS/BB items and the pier fair portion of the new world. So I'm working on my default save game in the meantime or playing Medieval Dynasty or Fall Out: New Vegas.

I tried to play a Scenario, but the Sim I created is alone. I can't stand to play just one Sim. I did play him for about two game days, before I moved on to the new ancestral game save I took the time to set up the other day. Couldn't find any real satisfaction in that one, either. Decided to turn aging off in my Main Save and go forward from there. Once infants arrive, I shall roll back and play Jamison and then the twins, so that I can pick up where I left off for the other children that are in their future. I will likely write up little segments about the infants but mostly, I will chronicle Erik's antics. I'm much happier this way, I discovered.

I will also add that I've been playing the pre mad3 families in my default save to give them some background stories. It has been a bit time consuming going through and giving them all make overs, making over their homes to fit their likes and personalities, as well as setting them up in careers and having relationships. I keep aging off as I use it to copy over when I start a new save.

Glad you found a solution. I don't care for playing one Sim in a house either and get bored fast.

Play a Scenario just for fun?
I find it's more fun playing the Scenarios with at least 3 sims. I started with only one sim and added more. Since I was playing Millionaire I made sure the roommates came in with extra money. The great thing was, once the scenario ended, they all got the rewards!

Try one of the other scenarios that require more than one sim and add to your save if you discover that they became friends with those
Play with Erik's brothers and/ or Brianna all with aging off
