That's it. I'm creating a list thread where we together collect the fears and effects.

Getting a fear gives you a notification and a moodlet (which depends on the type of the fear).
There are two types of fears: anxiety fears and danger fears (how I call them). Anxiety fears give tense a moodlet while danger fears give scared a moodlet.
Some existing traits prevent your sim from getting fears. This list shows which traits prevent which fears:

Base game:
- Fear of Being Cheated On - [Sim Name] needs to talk with his/her/their partner and soon. Otherwise, [Sim Name]'s relationship will continue to have problems unless he/she/they finds a way to deal with it.
- Fear of Being Judged - Those judgmental eyes feel like they are staring right at [Sim Name]!
- Fear of Cowplants - One bite from a Cowplant and it could all be over! [Sim Name] would prefer to keep away from Cowplants for now. The potted plant in the corner looks like it's up to no good.
- Fear of Crowded Places - There are too many Sims around right now! [Sim Name] will be tense if around too many Sims on the same lot.
- Fear of the Dark - [Sim Name] will be afraid during the nighttime and may struggle to stay asleep! Any little bump in the night will wake him/her/them up.
- Fear of Dead-end Job - [Sim Name] is questioning if there is a future with his/her/their career. [Sim Name]'s job performance will suffer and he/she/they will return from work sad.
- Fear of Death - [Sim Name] will avoid participating in risky behaviors and will be too afraid to interact with the Grim Reaper.
- Fear of Failure - [Sim Name] will start to question whether or not he/she/they is capable and have difficulty creating quality objects and struggle at work.
- Fear of Fire - [Sim Name] will want to run away and hide from fire and has an increased chance of starting fires accidentally.
- Fear of Ghosts - [Sim Name] won't want to remain near Ghosts for too long and might start believing Ghosts could be anywhere even when alone.
- Fear of Swimming - [Sim Name] will be too scared of swimming in the water and run out immediately if he/she/they somehow ends up in the water.
- Fear of Unfulfilled Dreams - [Sim Name] feels unfulfilled and dissatisfied with how life is going. [Sim Name] will occasionally become upset with his/her/their life direction.
- Fear of Disappointing Parents - Oh no. What are they going to think? [Sim Name] will not be able to relax and will have difficult living up to his/her/their parents’ expectations
- Fear of Homework - [Sim Name] didn’t realize until now that homework is not just a suggestion but a requirement to get good grades and learn! [Sim Name] will occasionally tense up when thinking about finishing his/her/their homework.
- Fear of Failing Classes - [Sim Name] is feeling the pressure of passing his/her/their classes. [Sim Name] will occasionally have trouble focusing in class due to the pressure.
- Fear of Failing Tests - [Sim Name] does not want to fail another test! [Sim Name]’s test taking skills will be affected by his/her/their mood more than usual!
- Fear of Failing After-School Activities - [Sim Name] will occasionally relive their moment of failure and all of the emotions that came with it!
- Fear of Being Inferior - [Sim Name] is afraid that they will never measure up and struggles with confidence. When losing confidence they will become tense. They will also become easily embarrassed when criticized or energized when their effort is praised. (Children only)
- Fear of Horses - What a massive creature! One wrong move and everything could go wrong. [Sim Name] won't be able to interact with horses until they Confronts the Fear.

I'll add them to the list. In the hidden traits discussion, all the cheats have been brought out too.

As expected... Ahem... As I feared... First sentiments, now this... And I was ready for this to happen that I made a discussion into idea corner suggesting more fears.
I should make another discussion for sentiments and older packs. Does this already exist or am I good to go?
This makes me highly disappointed. Why even take the time to do this feature if they were going to put as little effort in it as possible.
That's dissappointing. Why bother adding features like these so late into the game when they probably aren't gonna flesh it out? I'm glad I wasn't hyped up for this.
Overwhelmed by more options? The ones you listed like "fear of bats" and "fear of smog" are actually just two examples of the many interesting ones that they could have taken the time to add. This Wants and Fears feature is something tons of people have been clamoring for and the team clearly did as little work as possible so they could say they did it. I usually am not as negative about getting new features but they really dropped the ball this time and disappointed tons of Simmers!!
I wouldn't hold my breath. They still haven't added a ton of likes and dislikes. I really am bummed out that they did the least effort possible on a feature I was so excited for. This truly is one of the biggest disappointments I've had with a game I always am trying my best to defend but this time I really can't defend the team.

Thank goodness for modders. They are the true heroes! I wouldn't be playing Sims 4 all these years later without the amazing modding community.
I added the trait descriptions to the fears and added additional information about the moodlet that comes when a fear begins.
Ok. Work is done here! Unfortunately, disappointingly... Would be great if older packs had fears too...
Exactly. I have a fear of dogs. I even suggested these fears in the idea corner.

Yeah I get it, people want this system and i understand the disappointment. I, personally entitled to my opinion, don't want an overwhelming number of fears. The list given now I feel is relatable and I'm good with it. That's my take

Yes! That is the thing I remembered too! That's why my disappointment was so high when it turned out that older packs didn't get some.
So then, what next? Are they going to add new fears through The Sims Delivery System thingie or what?
Like seriously. Make a temporary wants, fears, and sentiments team for older packs or something!
At least they could have included "Fear of vampires," "Fear of werewolves," "Fear of magic," and "Fear of skiing/snowboarding/rock climbing (heights)" that could be overcome by learning more about these things/spending time with them and could be balanced in the Wants section by wanting to learn about/spend time with these things. Also cats and dogs. Thunderstorms/blizzards. Sigh.
Did they say that? It sounded to me like they could add more, but not that they would. Guess we'll see.
