Stairs going up from kitchen

Now, I looked for this:

I lived in a house where the stairs went to the 2nd floor, not only from the entry way, but also from the kitchen. You can only use one word, unless you know the name of the item or the person who created it, when you search in the Gallery.

Has anyone built a house with stairs like this or seen one?

Weren't those originally used for servants? Maybe you could search by that word?

I am confused by what you mean theres many ways for stairs to exist in kitchen

but i think many older homes had separate servants stairs that connect around kitchen and backdoor and have access to main entry

and then theres the main staircase thats for showing off

on more "modern" note i recently added hallway kitchen to my tudor home entrance for bro household cause i didn't feel like trying to fit proper kitchen and it turned out lovely but i think the first staircase in kitchen is more what you are asking for

They were indeed called servants stairs. Perhaps #servants or #servantsstairs would be appropriate hashtags by which to search.

I only found one house using #servantstairs. It is an Italian Renaisance house.

Such a house is hard to find for more than one reason. Stairs from the kitchen are often found in small houses where the kitchen is not a separate room.

I might look for one in my game later. I often add an extra staircase to prevent sims to get in each others' way when using staircases.

A lot of American TV shows have the main stair case in the lounge and then another set of stairs in the kitchen. In British homes we just have the one stair case.

My Grand Uncle and his wife purchased a house in Los Angeles, CA, that was purportedly built by a Civil War veteran for his bride. It was a fine old house. My Grand Aunt explained that in the kitchen there were large bins that were used to house flour and stuff of that nature. The entryway (foyer) was wide and L-Shaped. You walked passed the livingroom, on the left and the only bedroom (or Study) on the right. Turning right and set back a bit was the staircase. It had about two or three steps up on the wide base then you turned left to climb the rest of the stairs upward. Part of the reason the last step (landing) was so long was a door, on an angle opened onto it, from the kitchen. This was the Maid's entrance. Impossible to build in the game, since we STILL can't place workable stairs on an angle. But I loved that house so much I've built a rendition of it in every single Sims iteration I have played.
I made it far more rustic than it was.

Here it is with the rooflines fixed by another player and more modern looking:

The right hand turn to the staircase Through the arch is the kitchen:

I thought I had interior pictures, but I can't find them at the moment. I am inspired through this thread to give this build one more try. Thanks!

I'm not sure you will find much searching for that type of stairs. I created a huge house a few years ago with servants stairs but I never called them that in the text and I'm pretty sure majority of simmers wouldnt. I wish you luck in your search though o:)

Some of my houses I've built have a 2nd staircase in the kitchen. I like the old homes and many of them had the staircase for use by the servants. Two I can name are the Lizzie Borden house and The Grey House (from the TV show The Good Witch". My Gallery ID is MaggieMae7276. I probably have more with 2 staircases, but I don't remember the names I gave them.

I do recall about three steps up once you opened the door from the kitchen which put you on the landing near the base of the rest of the stairs going upward. Way cool. Unfortunately, my grand aunt and uncle never had any children. He passed away right before I graduated High School. She passed away when I was pregnant with my what would have been my third child. (I lost it.) The Estate went to her nephew, unfortunately, and he sold the place to a contractor who wanted to make more apartments in that lot. Face/palm. The house had already been divided into two apartments (second floor) and a Bachelor pad on the third floor! I'm so angry that house has been torn down. My eldest son took his first steps in the formal livingroom!

I found the Grey House, but cannot find the Lizzie Bordon. Could you post a link to it in the gallery?

I built a house called Magnolia Manor, it’s on the gallery, my name here is my gallery i.d. and it has a kitchen staircase.

Edited to correct misspelling of is, because that's the day I'm having.

I am busy building today, because my Main save is at a stand still, although I did find one more song he had written and double-checked if he's already won for it. The Flashback Erik has already gained his Global Superstar status and won his first Accolade, so that I don't have much for him to do. So, that favorite house of mine is getting another rendition. I believe I may have found a 'work around' for the kitchen staircase. You see, in this particular build, the staircase isn't visible in the kitchen. It's behind a door! Open door, walk up a couple of steps, voila, you're on the landing next to the staircase going up to the second floor. Since angles won't allow workable doors or stairs (and to my knowledge without MOO, you can't even hang a picture or a window on one) I thought I was hosed. However, I discovered what I was doing wrong ages ago when we first got platforms, before they gave us the stairs that can bend. Instead of placing the steps (or trying to) on the angle, I've decided to place them on the end. I built a wall around this area with a door leading into it. So far, so good. I was able to place the stairs going up to the second floor and the short two steps from the entry hall. I will show pictures once I've got it done and have tested to see if a Sim can walk through the Maid's/Servant's entrance. Okay, break over, it's time to get the second floor divided into rooms.

I hope it lives up to the hype. I did get it to work, but I really don't like the look of it. I will post pictures when I finish actually playing the game for the day. :)

    Okay, here you go:
The roof will never be like the original house's roof. That front A-roof curved downward on the one-side to become the roof over the porch.
    jNe3T6m.jpg

Two angles on the stairs with cut out walls:
You can see the Test Sim on the side.

    Y9DIHYK.jpg

I'm a tad unhappy because the stairs going to the second floor are almost 'floating' on the hall side. I think I like the winder stairs better, even though they don't allow for the Maid's Entrance.

@catmando830 Thank you. I haven't put it up, but I'll be happy to do so. I'm glad you like it. Give me a bit of time. I may have left the upstairs unfinished. Or, you can finish it yourself, if you like. :)

Hi. I just finished tinkering with the build. I placed it on a smaller lot, 40 X 30. It was originally built on Hound's End in Brindleton Bay. The lot is titled: Magnolia Ave House. My username is the same as on the forums: GalacticGal. I failed to grab the link and I just closed down my game so I can install HSY. Let me know if you have trouble finding it.
