Hey all! Just wanted to pop in and say hi :) I’m a new storyteller and am curious if most people on here are on pc? It seems that may be the preferred way of getting screenshots and creating stories.
@MorganBWrites Welcome to the thread! Yeah, I'm on pc and I've found it to be an exceptionally easy way to screenshot, pretty much just point and shoot.

Welcome!! Yeah, I'm on pc, too, though I don't write as much as I used to.

Same. Move the mouse, zoom a little, click c to capture.

I'm a new-ish storyteller too! And yeah, I use PC. I couldn't imagine using anything else, but that's me with most games tbh.
Hey guys, it's been a while! I haven't been writing due to the fact that I gave birth to my son in real life on July 4th so I've been pretty tired and busy. I'm finally getting some of my energy back but a newborn still demands a lot from me. I have however found time to work on my legacy a little bit at a much more leisurely pace than before. (No I can't play a full week in one day anymore. Haha.)
Still though, I have managed to get an update out! Week 37
All my other stories are currently on Hiatus until my son can sleep through the night.
since i don't have kids except the benders can i ask what your son sleeping through the night has to do with your stories. sorry i just don't connect it. although one of my sims has a newborn who wakes up so much i didn't get a pic til today.
Well, my son is only 2 weeks old so he takes most of my attention, I don't have a lot of time to be on my computer right now. He needs to be fed every 1-3 hours, changed, cuddled, etc. When he is a little bit older I will be able to have some 'me' time again.
the thread moves fast i didn't know you had a newborn til right now. congrats.

Welcome to the thread!! @MorganBWrites To answer your question, yes I suspect that most Simlit writers are on PC simply because of more gameplay options and how much easier it is to manipulate the sims and the camera
Hey everyone, popping in here as I've been absent for a bit. Work is busy, but rewarding a.k.a no time for Sims. I have been working on worldbuilding, and reading some physical books on my shelf for the first time in awhile.
I do have questions for y'all. What is your preferred point of view or perspective when writing SimLit and why? Do you feel your preference affects character choices and plot direction? Does your preference change if you're reading?

I prefer writing third person when I need to write past tense and move the story forward, and first person to get their personal thoughts. I switch between them with my stories but have recently incorporated diary entries to include first person.
So, question... Does anyone else have some new stories I can get into? I want to have more connections in the community, but every story I see already has 30+ chapters, lol, and I would rather read a story that's, well... less on its feet. If there's any stories that still only have 10 or so chapters that are currently active, you folks can totally send them my way! I'm keeping an eye out anyway, of course, but help is always appreciated.
My story Summer House only has around 10 chapters , maybe 13... they're fairly short . I update two chapters and one poem per week , so keeping up us manageable. It's only loosely SimLit . It's inspired by a beautiful build by @BBQPenguinWings , and each of the characters is a Sim, but I only have one screenshot per chapter and the story events don't really happen in the game, though the relationship dynamics are game-driven. It's quiet, introspective , slightly melancholy but also hopeful .
My story Sierra and the S-boys also doesn't have many chapters yet and has barely taken off, compared to my plans for it. It's updated infrequently at present , so it would be easy to keep up!

My apocalypse story has just started gen 2 (it has 6 chapters as of when I post one in a minute). You don't have to read Gen 1 as anything relevant from Gen 1 will be brought up on it's own in Gen 2 so that they're completely separate.
Oh and my greek/roman/medieval story has 18 chapters but some are fairly short. Only 2 or 3 really long ones.

Bugsie, do you have your stories on separate blogs ? I get updates for some of them in my WordPress Reader , but I don't think I'm getting all of them .

Currently my parentacy only has 6 chapters and is updated a bit slowly because of school and stuff! But I also have another legacy coming out soon that is based on a challenge that I came up with so that would be something you could be there for from the start if you like my writing style!!
i'm here i was lurking. the other day the lady who takes me shopping and i had a fight. and she said to me i don't need you the boy . whos a man older than me but she calls him boy. just added a day so i have enough people without you. then today she shows up like nothing happened. i think she told her boss something diffrnt because . she said shes still working with me.

Both stories I've been doing so far use a changing 1st-person perspective. This was a VERY deliberate choice, as I really felt awkward writing stories in a life simulator from the perspective of a narrator, and both stories of mine start off with 4-5 people, so only hearing the perspective of one of the characters would honestly just feel like a lot's missing from it. I do have some multi-person story ideas, however, that definitely would focus on a single "main character", but I most likely won't start those stories up anytime soon.

Just click into my blog. I have stories that are several in, and others that only have a couple parts. I try to make them all only about 5 minute reads though, so they're not bad even when they're longer. August first I will have a murkland story starting up though.

I've only ever played on PC and GameCube... And the GameCube version everything about it frustrated me. So PC is definitely my choice for getting screenshots. I love writing with images because I am a very visual person. Which is odd. Because I can if I feel like it write 1k+ words inspired off a single picture. But with most of my stories I keep it to a couple paragraphs per image to keep it nice and easy to read like a comic. Giving it more of an open interpretation chance as well.

I think my reading and writing style are pretty similar. The stories I choose to read over others are always ones that have similar writing style to my own. Not that I won't read other styles , they're just typically lower on the priority list.
My writing style itaelf of course is a little.... Different? I think if you clump it all together I really enjoy writing narratives. When I can describe how someone is acting. What they feel on their skin on a warm day and a breeze blowing through their hair cooling them down. Or how they glare at someone behind the person's back.
But I also enjoy experimenting. So if I can do narrative in other ways I do. Like in the case of my isbi it's in theatrical script format instead of paragraphs with action asteriks. And it heavily relies on the photos and leaving interpretation open to the audience by what they see.
Than in my murkland and building Willow Creek stories you get a focused narrative from the point of view of a single character. Sometimes I slip up with this because I'll forget I can't take a screenshot when that character isn't there. Or something happens I still want to include so I improvise.
I enjoy the freedom of third person narratives. Someone telling the story basically. Watching it all. I find it really relaxing
