Thanks for all the help everyone. I guess one of the things I need is some way to calculate how much of an effect an item will have on the CYS *without* factoring in the daily deal. Everything I've found so far, seems to use the daily deal. But, for example, Best of 2012 isn't on the Daily Deal, and I wound up owning some things towards it before I found the cascades thread, so now I'm trying to compare items, and determine how much of an impact each item will have on the CYS. I can't seem to figure out how to do it though.

@Netjera - The Eastern spreadsheet has been updated. I would suggest making a backup copy of your spreadsheet, download the updated Eastern sheet. Then:
If you have already using a copy of the spreadsheet, you can update yours by downloading the new spreadsheet and copying the "Welcome", "Current & Next Rotation", and Useful Links sheets from the new version to the one you are using. You will have to delete the old sheets and then rename the new ones to remove "Copy of" in the tab name. Alternatively, you can download the new spreadsheet and copy and replace the "Items-Owned" and "Set_Tracking" tabs.
Please let me know how things are going for you.
THANKS! I think I can manage to copy the sheets over. That should leave everything that I've entered intact, and as long as I get the sheet names correct, I'd think all the pointers would work. I will make a backup just in case, though, as you suggested.

@Netjera - While Best of 2012 is not on the Daily Deal, many items from the compilation are on the DD which will help the CYS to be triggered for the compilation. The Sort by "Part of Set" tab on the DD spreadsheet lists all the items that are included in the compilation that are on the DD list.
Normally each item you buy reduces the set price by 90% of the cost of the item. It is best to get an item on sale because the 90% reduction is based on the regular price. For example, deal 729 is Impermanent Dinner Table included in Itadakimasu! Japanese Inspired Dining and Best of 2012. The table's regular price is 89 sp but deal 729 is for 30 sp. You spend 30 sp but reduce the CYS price of the set and compilation by 90% of 89 or 80 sp.

Yeah, I've been closely examining both of these, thanks! I'm just having trouble figuring out the best way. Unfortunately, I didn't know about the Daily Deal Stalkers or how things applied to the CYS when the Enchanted Bundle of Dark Arts came out on the 13th or so. So I bought it at 750sp thinking that was a GREAT deal, and not realizing that I could've saved an additional 500sp on it. So far, I have EBoDD, and because of that, if my calculations are correct, I'll get More Magic! for free when it comes up on the next DD. I'm also planning to get the Teppanyaki Grill on DD 546. I'm just not sure if it's in my best interests to do that or not. I'm going for the Eloquently Eclectic collection, and if I understand what's in the Cascade thread by LadyBugLeslie, I might actually qualify for that collection *without* completing Best of 2012 if I have Animals Abound (which I do) and Itadakimasu! (which I will after DD 546? But since I still will need to complete Best of 2012 anyways, is that the BEST way to get the EE bundle?

@Netjera - The Eastern spreadsheet has been updated. I would suggest making a backup copy of your spreadsheet, download the updated Eastern sheet. Then:
If you have already using a copy of the spreadsheet, you can update yours by downloading the new spreadsheet and copying the "Welcome", "Current & Next Rotation", and Useful Links sheets from the new version to the one you are using. You will have to delete the old sheets and then rename the new ones to remove "Copy of" in the tab name. Alternatively, you can download the new spreadsheet and copy and replace the "Items-Owned" and "Set_Tracking" tabs.
Please let me know how things are going for you.
THANKS! I think I can manage to copy the sheets over. That should leave everything that I've entered intact, and as long as I get the sheet names correct, I'd think all the pointers would work. I will make a backup just in case, though, as you suggested.

Normally each item you buy reduces the set price by 90% of the cost of the item. It is best to get an item on sale because the 90% reduction is based on the regular price. For example, deal 729 is Impermanent Dinner Table included in Itadakimasu! Japanese Inspired Dining and Best of 2012. The table's regular price is 89 sp but deal 729 is for 30 sp. You spend 30 sp but reduce the CYS price of the set and compilation by 90% of 89 or 80 sp.
THIS is seriously the best explanation anyone has ever given me! I sort of got around to figuring it out, but not that clearly. That totally clears up the confusion I'd had over what I read, and what I'd observed, thanks!
Now that you understand the discount when you buy an item, here is another important rule to consider. "Copied" from page 1 of this thread in the CYS section.
If you don't own anything from the set, always buy the cheapest item in the set before buying the set, even if you have to pay full price. The first item reduces the CYS of a set by a "first item discount". The first item you buy in a set that is CYS enabled takes more off the price of the set than you paid for the item. But this only works for the first item. Your discount is equal to (10% of the Set Price) - (10% of the item cost). For example, if the set price is 1000 sp and you purchase an item that is 25 sp the discount would be:

Don't worry about what you paid in the past. Think of your savings from this point on. For many of us, we started purchasing store items before CYS was offered. Also, I would often buy a set when it was first released at the promotional price only to see it offered for less months later. I remember buying the Stone Throw Greenhouse on the DD only to see that DD list change to a new list (it used to do that) and the greenhouse was offered for about 300 sp less.
Edit to add: I am glad you were able to update your spreadsheet by copying in the two updated sheets.

Provence does not have any items in Best of 2012.
The spreadsheets include information on which sets or compilations a set is included in. In the time zone specific spreadsheet on the Set_Tracking tab, check out the column "Part of Set(s) or Compilation(s)". This information is also available on the tab "Sets On or Not on the DD". You can also see if the set contains subsets.
From the spreadsheet, Provence is included in "World Inspiration Compilation; 3 items are included in Charmingly Simple Kitchen Collection".
You could also look up Best of 2012 and in the column "Subsets (for combo sets and compilations)" you will see

I looked over the options presented in the Cascades thread and by Merelhyn. Since you own More Magic!, your best route is to now get Itadakimasu! Japanese Inspired Dining and India Inspirations Collection. Once you own the three sets, Best of 2012 will be free.
If you want to spend the least amount of simpoints, you will have to go through two rotations of the DD. Following this route, you will own Best of 2012 on March 18, 2019

There's a lot to learn, and I'm learning slooowly, lol. I keep making mistakes. Like I remembered to the rule you cited above, about buying the first item, even if it wasn't on sale, just to reduce the set price. I think that's why I own a couple of pieces of Stones Throw Greenhouse, even though now I won't need them, so that money was wasted. Another mistake: I bought the Plants vs. Zombie Flower when it was on the DD, before I knew about how the DD worked, and it doesn't count for CYS, so basically I'll be buying it *twice*. *eyeroll*
Oh well, at least I'll still be paying far less than I would've paid, using this new method.

I found if you want to cut down on rotations, paying a bit more for one item earlier helps.. maybe you like a set, maybe it helps complete another set due on the DD soon, of course it would have to be a low cost or poor DD discount for that to work best. For me a cheap price is important of course but so is time saving important, some DDs are late/early, bad times when you factor time Irl into it. On some sets now complete, I did just this. (Ace in the Palm for the Vegas/Sept 2011 DD, Panda post for that cascade trigger, cleared full edwardian set early because I like that, too many dds for it, same with the full Indian collection DD picking up some discount when possible from item DDs.) Some venues feed into sets (Library has Spell book included in darklings for Best 2012), "Featured looks" has many links to other sets, I own most of Best 2012 so the Greenhouse will be free once Grill/Itadakimasu! DDs have finished, paying bit more for the grill in the process is the only way to catch Itadakimasu this rotation.
There are many tools to shorten rotations from mmao to the sale page not always ideal, mmao especially has not helped in weeks after a good start, it does tend to offer items you either have, going to have free from CYS, cascades or DD @ 50% or maybe I don't have "Lucky palms".
Most sets including featured looks are 40%/60% complete from one half rotation starting around DD #500 or so. 9K free points used up, extra points brought.. top up sp from Dragon Valley purchase, Complete Barnicale Bay was free download no codes, iirc with the Worlds bundle as was Choc fountain but neither factor into CYS sets for some reason/old store links. It was going great until I saw the number of outfits not related to any set on the store. Just waiting for Country Livin' to pop up in a few :D
@SinYang - You are correct that only buying the cheapest items may not be ideal. Many people, include myself, have set alarms to get deals that come up in the middle of the night but not everyone wants to do that. Also, as you said, you may be willing to pay more simpoints in order to own the items a lot sooner.
@Netjera - Please ask lots of questions. That is why this thread was created.
It is also very important after every purchase to recheck your actual CYS for the compilation and the sets. In my experience, the CYS does not always follow the expected calculations. Sometimes, you may have to rework your purchase plan. Also, sometimes the CYS to complete the compilation may become lower than completing the CYS of the subset.
Could you post your current CYS for Best of 2012. I am now thinking that since you will own More Magic! sooner than shown in Merelhyn's list and you own some pieces from the Stone Throw Greenhouse, I should (edit - review ) the purchase plan. What items do you own from the greenhouse?

Yeah, I've been closely examining both of these, thanks! I'm just having trouble figuring out the best way. Unfortunately, I didn't know about the Daily Deal Stalkers or how things applied to the CYS when the Enchanted Bundle of Dark Arts came out on the 13th or so. So I bought it at 750sp thinking that was a GREAT deal, and not realizing that I could've saved an additional 500sp on it. So far, I have EBoDD, and because of that, if my calculations are correct, I'll get More Magic! for free when it comes up on the next DD. I'm also planning to get the Teppanyaki Grill on DD 546. I'm just not sure if it's in my best interests to do that or not. I'm going for the Eloquently Eclectic collection, and if I understand what's in the Cascade thread by LadyBugLeslie, I might actually qualify for that collection *without* completing Best of 2012 if I have Animals Abound (which I do) and Itadakimasu! (which I will after DD 546? But since I still will need to complete Best of 2012 anyways, is that the BEST way to get the EE bundle?
Honestly, I think I'm confusing myself.

Yeah, since I have pieces of the set already, I was trying to find a way to do this WITHOUT spending on the Stone's Throw Greenhouse (although I think I already have a piece or two belonging to it), simply because it's not on the CYS.
Did not realize there was an overlap between Itadakimasu and EE or The Gentleman's Lounge. New that having Ita reduced EE for some reason, but not specifically why.

Now that you understand the discount when you buy an item, here is another important rule to consider. "Copied" from page 1 of this thread in the CYS section.
Don't worry about what you paid in the past. Think of your savings from this point on. For many of us, we started purchasing store items before CYS was offered. Also, I would often buy a set when it was first released at the promotional price only to see it offered for less months later. I remember buying the Stone Throw Greenhouse on the DD only to see that DD list change to a new list (it used to do that) and the greenhouse was offered for about 300 sp less.
Edit to add: I am glad you were able to update your spreadsheet by copying in the two updated sheets.
Provence does not have any items in Best of 2012.
The spreadsheets include information on which sets or compilations a set is included in. In the time zone specific spreadsheet on the Set_Tracking tab, check out the column "Part of Set(s) or Compilation(s)". This information is also available on the tab "Sets On or Not on the DD". You can also see if the set contains subsets.
From the spreadsheet, Provence is included in "World Inspiration Compilation; 3 items are included in Charmingly Simple Kitchen Collection".
You could also look up Best of 2012 and in the column "Subsets (for combo sets and compilations)" you will see

I looked over the options presented in the Cascades thread and by Merelhyn. Since you own More Magic!, your best route is to now get Itadakimasu! Japanese Inspired Dining and India Inspirations Collection. Once you own the three sets, Best of 2012 will be free.
If you want to spend the least amount of simpoints, you will have to go through two rotations of the DD. Following this route, you will own Best of 2012 on March 18, 2019

There's a lot to learn, and I'm learning slooowly, lol. I keep making mistakes. Like I remembered to the rule you cited above, about buying the first item, even if it wasn't on sale, just to reduce the set price. I think that's why I own a couple of pieces of Stones Throw Greenhouse, even though now I won't need them, so that money was wasted. Another mistake: I bought the Plants vs. Zombie Flower when it was on the DD, before I knew about how the DD worked, and it doesn't count for CYS, so basically I'll be buying it *twice*. *eyeroll*
Oh well, at least I'll still be paying far less than I would've paid, using this new method.

There are many tools to shorten rotations from mmao to the sale page not always ideal, mmao especially has not helped in weeks after a good start, it does tend to offer items you either have, going to have free from CYS, cascades or DD @ 50% or maybe I don't have "Lucky palms".
Most sets including featured looks are 40%/60% complete from one half rotation starting around DD #500 or so. 9K free points used up, extra points brought.. top up sp from Dragon Valley purchase, Complete Barnicale Bay was free download no codes, iirc with the Worlds bundle as was Choc fountain but neither factor into CYS sets for some reason/old store links. It was going great until I saw the number of outfits not related to any set on the store. Just waiting for Country Livin' to pop up in a few :D
@Netjera - Please ask lots of questions. That is why this thread was created.
It is also very important after every purchase to recheck your actual CYS for the compilation and the sets. In my experience, the CYS does not always follow the expected calculations. Sometimes, you may have to rework your purchase plan. Also, sometimes the CYS to complete the compilation may become lower than completing the CYS of the subset.
Could you post your current CYS for Best of 2012. I am now thinking that since you will own More Magic! sooner than shown in Merelhyn's list and you own some pieces from the Stone Throw Greenhouse, I should (edit - review ) the purchase plan. What items do you own from the greenhouse?
