Zoo can we use the same thread that we used in course 9, for the blackcat list or do we need to just make a new one for the Moo class????
I think it is entirely up to you, Bree! If you want to use the same thread, you can give the link that starts you in the right place to view the Course 10 homework.
All you have to do it right click on the little icon right above the message (in the subject line, on the left) that looks like a sheet of paper and choose "copy shortcut" and it will give the link to that particular post on the thread.
This is a Model Home - Just completed, and ready for purchase. It is empty, but comes with cabinetry, appliances and bathrooms. It is awaiting your own decorative touches and furnishings. There’s just enough landscaping to make it appealing to buyers. I wanted you to feel like this is a brand new house and you are walking into a showing. Envision your own furnishings. Maybe call the builder back and ask him to re-model.
I made this home for the MOO U course, so That anyone taking the course would have a pretty house to get all gussied up. You may use it for MOO U, or just have fun decorating a nice house that is pre-built. It is base game only. Yes, all that’s needed to download this house is the original Sims 3 game.
Even if you do not take the MOO U course, you might just enjoy downloading this home (again, everyone can download it, it’s base game only) and just decorating to your heart’s content! Maybe you are not a builder, but you ARE a decorator! Have fun!!!
If you are taking the MOO U course and wish to furnish the house with your creative MOOing ideas, you may post pictures on your threads. Feel free to redecorate, re-color, re-build, anything and everything you wish. Have fun with it! In class, I will be using it as my demo-house for my own screenshots. You may use it, or you may use your own house, or you may simply make a “blank box” as a stage, as I did in the previous course description.
I will give permission to MOO U students to re-upload this if they make a complete transformation of the home- House must be re-colored and restyled with new windows and doors, pillars, Columns...Really transform it! I can see this home turning into a neat beach home! Maybe you can make it more country and farmhouse-like. Can you take it to contemporary? That is what MOO U is all about - How to make something from what you have and transform your items. Please post pictures and send me a link to the pictures for approval.
Thank You Zoo I will do that... T. I already DL the house it is so beautiful, are you sure you want to let someone like me loose on it to wreck it???? Heehehehehe!!!! You are very kind and a very wonderful creator... The Shell is beautiful...
Yes! I am very excited to see how everyone reinterprets this house..or just decorates to their taste!
I built it as a Craftsman style..well, a modern Craftsman. Where I live, it's a very popular home style. If you were going to a new housing development, looking at new homes, you find modified Crafsmen homes in my part if the world. It is very woodsey where i live, and the style lends itself to the area. But it would make a lovely beach home too, if someone wanted to remodel. I can totally see it recolored and redone in a beachy style. A lake or ocean view lot would be terrific though! I had it at the lakeside lot in Appoloosa Plains, and it was pretty!
I figured this would be a neat way to show you how to make a house homey with some MOOed items...and then you could follow along, step by step, if you wanted. Using the house Will be particularly handy for anyone new to building. You can have the fun of MOOing without worrying about a house, or about a backdrop to stage it in. And you will be able to recreate items for your house, with me, and then modify them to your own personal taste.
i would certainly like to join in with this but as i don't know how my health will be from one day to the next i may not be able to. is it limited places? i wouldn't want to take a place and then not be online saturday.
If I'm not a super beginner, can I still join? There are parts of this course that really interest me! Also, how long would it last?
Absolutely you can join us! In fact a number of highly experienced builders are taking this class, so many that Taryn has been accusing us of taking it just so that we can sit in the back and heckle her and get up to shenanigans when she turns her back to write on the board, but we have all promised to behave! It has been my experience that you ALWAYS learn useful stuff in these classes, even if what is being taught is something that you already know quite a bit about. I have even learned a lot when TEACHING a Zoo U class.
The "live" portion of the class generally runs for about two hours. Zoo U threads are monitored daily, so if you post a question after the class is no longer live, you WILL get an answer, but you may have to wait a day or two for it.
WOW! I turned my back and a HUGE bunch of new students registered! I see Hydra's fine hand in this. I posted on her page about the class starting and this influx of new admissions seems like a result of some official EA publicity. Were we tweeted or tumblr'd? LOL! Hydra has been an amazingly big supporter, so if you talk to her tell her thanks for that.
However you heard about our class, WELCOME TO ZOO U! If you look on the previous page you will see that Taryn has uploaded a house for us to play with! I am going to add her post to the "Note From the Teacher" post on the first page of this thread.
Here's hoping that everyone joins us on Saturday. We always learn a lot and have a fun time, too.

Hi, BlueMurder! Spaces are definitely NOT limited. And if you don't feel well on Saturday (which we really really hope you DO feel well) then this course will be up as a self-paced online tutorial that is here when YOU are ready for it.
All Zoo U course threads are monitored so that if you have a question even days (or months) after a course is no longer "live" then you can post it and expect to get an answer.
The big advantage to being here during the two-hour live portion of the class is the fun (it is nice to know that we are all working on a project at the same time) AND that you can get an immediate answer to any questions you may have (rather than having to wait a day or two for an answer).
I will put you on the class roster right away.
By the way, I wouldn't mind having a master pattern maker (hint hint) come in to do a Zoo U course someday. If you are ever feeling up to it, you just let me know. Your patterns are just awesome.
We weren't tweeted or tumblr'd as I had earlier suspected, but we were Facebooked! (Yes, that is a word, trust me)
If anyone from FB sees this thread and is too nervous to register, DON'T BE! This is a really low-pressure environment. No one is going to get called on in class and made to feel like a fool because of not knowing the answer to a question. No one is going to get scolded for not keeping to a set pace or for not turning in homework. PROMISE!

The kitchen. The builder must have simply put in some “nice” cabinets. But I think we can do better than this….

A pretty living room…Hmm..I can envision bookshelves by the fireplace, maybe an entertainment center…might have to call the builder back…Still it’s pretty. Kinda generic paint, but it still has some style. Yes, I can definitely see possibilities here…
