High FPS?

I love playing the Sims 3 on my Lenovo Y500 but do my fps have to be so high? I'm getting up to 123+ fps and I don't want to fry my card. Is there someway I can lower it?

I've done some searching and I hope I did that right?

My game is still spitting out 123+ fps and I don't think that's safe for my Nvidia GT 750M

try putting vertical sync to on and not adaptive.
Also for this to take effect you have to run the game in full screen.
Window mode will not force vertical sync.

Crap I'm so use to running the game in windowed mode :( and thank you I'll change that now :). Is there no way to have it work in windowed mode?

yes actually you can play in window mode if you download nvidia inspector,
    http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvidia_inspector_download.html
From there you will need to make a profile so i will give you instructions.
    First download and install inspector.
launch the inspector and where it says show overclocking down the bottom,
RIGHT CLICK that tab and click driver profile settings.
then you will want to click the orange start.. create new profile.
you can label this the sims 3.
then click the blue box next to the red cross.. add application to profile.
navigate to the sims 3 folder in c drive.. then game and bin and select the ts3w.exe
ok.. so now you have made a sims 3 profile.
Now go down to where it says common and frame rate limiter and select allow windowed from drop down box.
This should lock fps in window also. :)

EDIT: SELECT 60FPS ON DROP DOWN BOX :)

ok so just select 60fps on the drop down box.. or if you want you can go lower.. but 60 should be fine, if you find your card is getting too hot you can lower it to 40 or even less.
Also works in window mode :)

    Hi, @chesterbigbird !
Thank you so much for those advices. <3
I have used before too only original NVIDIA control panel for to keep fps under the control. This not worked for windowed mode and not for installing store content via Launcher, where I have had sometimes fps over 5'600!! :scream: (monitored with Fraps)
I have NVIDIA 660 GTX and I'm not ready to spend money for another graphic card (already one GC was fried on TS3 in past).
I have tried too with "3Booter, the Incooperative Game Kicker + fps limiter" (fresh downloaded), but this doesn't affects fps during "installation progress" of Sims3Packs via Launcher.
I have added all TS3 executables into Sims3 profile on NVidia inspector and finally it keeps fps under 62 - in fullscreen mode, windowed mode and "installation progress" too.
As I have added in this same profile too CAW.exe and WorldBuilderCS.exe, I'm hoping that there it will work too. I love the idea to build my own place of dreams (Sims3World), but I was so much worried about my GC, that it has prevented me fully enjoy those tools (and after short time I've made it off for cool down my PC).
(Note for me (= things to do): make a research on forums.thesims.com/ for keywords "chesterbigbird NVidia inspector" hoping to lay down complete settings for TS3 as I've seen here for another game).
What do you think, it is OK to add in this profile too launcher and CAW executables or might I run in some issues? If so, is there some another solution for those tools?
(I'm now reinstalling whole Store (again :flushed: ) and I need to use launcher frequently, but I won't kill my graphic card on it).
Sorry for my ignorancy, but I'm not PC whizz. :flushed:

You should be fine to add the CAW exe also. It really is a good program and keeps the fps stable. your 660 is a good card.. if you don't play anything ultra demanding it should last you a while longer :)

Hi, @chesterbigbird! Thank you so much for the answer. :) (Sfortunatelly I've installed today 11 Windows updates and my TS3 dedicated PC won't start - even unable to enter in provisory mode. Don't worry, I'm searching solution on this PC, not asking here, because this isn't TS3 problem).
Have a marvelous day and thank you that you are still helping with TS3. :)
Edit: It seems, that this is KB2990214 (https://community.norton.com/en/forums/optional-update-kb2990214) what made my PC out, but for me was it offered as important update. OK, at last I've got restore on this PC, another one there will be reinstalling of OS required (http://www.digital-forum.it/showthread.php?176470-Non-installate-la-KB2990214-su-Windows-7-e-8-(12-04-15) - use google translate, please, pages are in italian language)
