Hey again,I found out something rather interesting with both the sims 3 and 4,basically you open up the graphicsrules.sgr file and where it says 4 3 2 1 ,change it to 4 3 3 3 and save it,it makes both games more stable with frame rates,I have no idea why,but figured it would be worth a try due to everyone having performance issues.

Hi, I was recommended to ask you about what budget I would need to purchase a laptop that would run the sims 4 with about 6-7 packs. I've been told by others that my budget isn't big enough to purchase one.

I did respond to your post, things are more expensive here and you need a laptop capable gaming, the sims 4 is now classified as demanding and needs a good cpu and dedicated graphics card to run correctly.
      Looking at $1,000 possibly more.
This is the cheapest i can find

In terms of specs that is the lowest i would go.
See my response to your post for more info on the specs :)

Unfortunately that falls below the requirements and will not run the game. Integrated graphics are not supported properly and you also have a low end cpu and not much ram.

Hi Chester, I posted in one of the tech forums looking for help in building a computer to play sims and also edit videos via Adobe products. https(://)forums.thesims(.com)/en_us/discussion/900950/ - I go into way more detail on this post, not sure if you've seen it or not! Thanks, Alexis

Hi Chesterbird. I have been directed to you for some advice please on a laptop.
It’s an MSI GE72MVR 17.3" FHD Gaming Laptop (Core i7-7700HQ, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 256GB SSD, GTX 1070 Graphics, Windows 10 Home) 7RG Apache Pro.
It tells me that it’s an ‘IPS level’ display so I rang MSI and one person said because it’s a 120hz display it’s probably not as most IPS screens are usually 60hz not 120hz, and another person said it IS an IPS screen. I want an IPS screen and not a TN panel which I’m concerned that really it is.
Also another issue for me would be fan noise. Are MSI laptops fans fairly quiet for gaming laptops? I recently bought an Acer Predator but I had to return it as it had way too much backlight bleed and also the fans were annoying noisy so I’m hoping MSI have quieter fans. I would really appreciate any advice.

I believe the 120Hz is TN panel and the 60Hz is ips.
Personally i would go with the 60Hz because if you do not have Gsync and you cannot pull 120FPS on a 120Hz panel then you will have choppy performance.
I think the one you are looking at has a 94% NTSC TN Panel.

as for the fans, My sister has a msi laptop and the fans are not all that loud. However all laptop fans will be somewhat loud when they are running at full speed. (summer gaming will trigger that.)
If you are worried about that then buy a laptop cooling pad, that way the laptop fans will not switch on as often.

The link Janeysims posted in the forum for the laptop has no reviews last I checked. If it was me I would be contacting MSI or digging around the web to find out how the laptop runs from people who actually own that specific model laptop. You know they all run different.

The GE72MVR has allot of reviews
      https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE72MVR-APACHE-PRO-044-i7-7700HQ/dp/B06XSBQZXR
Most of the apache pro ones have the same design but different hardware inside, They are a good laptop.. but if someone was worried about the screen then it needs to be seen in a store before purchasing.

The link they posted did not have any reviews and it now has one review. Their link is from the UK. not US. I agree I would do my homework. Go see the laptop in person and ask questions to people who own that specific laptop etc.

Hi! I am so sorry to bother you - I am looking to buy an affordable computer that will work well with the Sims - something with a decent amount of RAM, a good enough graphics card, and a strong processor. My current computer started to have issues when I downloaded C&D... Someone referred me to you & said you might be able to help me identify some ones in my budget. Would you be able to help? Thanks so much! :)

hey chesterbigbird. i've been having computer trouble, and one of my friends referred me to you. i thought it was a problem with the graphics card, but after talking to some other simmers, they say the graphics card is fine. while i'm playing the game sometimes, either in live mode or build/buy, but never in CAS, the game will freeze and my screen will turn all one color and i have to do a hard reboot on the computer. then, when i log back on, i have lost progress and have to redo a lot of things. any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

Hey chesterbigbird, sorry to bother you! I have a query about my desktop being able to run TS4 Cats and Dogs and was told to hit you up :) I commented in a thread in the tech forum 'Drivers and Graphics Question' and wondered if you'd be able to check out my specs and get back to me. Thanks a bunch!

It can run it on medium settings depending on your resolution, we generally recommend the FX 8320. The graphics card should be fine.

thankyou :) i was wanting to run it on 720p,am i capped to medium settings?
    • chesterbigbird
      chesterbigbird
You could probably do high settings at 720p. :)

Do you think that processor and graphics card would bottleneck much on sims 4?
    • chesterbigbird
      chesterbigbird
Bottlenecking is where you have a graphics card too powerful for the cpu, your graphics card is not on the higher end so no you will not have a bottleneck, will it lag with the sims 4? well it depends on what type of fps you want.. i wouldn't expect 60fps.

is a custom built gaming laptop/gaming pc more suitable and better, and can a custom gaming laptop be upgraded, unlike a gaming laptop?
    Thanks :)

Addicted2Gamzz if you keep harassing the people in tech with a new computer every month we are going to keep reporting you. What your doing is cyberstalking which is a crime . This has been going on for a year under two different accounts. Now I suggest you stop and leave us all alone.
