MY previous hard drive crashed and the laptop was supposed to be something to tide me over until I could find the right computer. I ended up loving the laptop! I can play sims 4 and the new simcity on Ultra graphics with no lag!! I play other games like Age of Empires (2-3) and Age of Mythology, it runs super smooth and like a dream!

A $300 cheap laptop is not designed to run 3d games http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Your_Computer_is_Like_a_Car

I used to work in IT, it was originally almost 500 or so. This was the best one out of all the ones I compared, even close to 700 dollar ones. I take care of my computers..

It has to do with the specs not the price so to speak. You will not find a proper gaming computer to run this game the way it should or under $700. A true gaming laptop will be thicker and have better cooling than a regular laptop. Most lenovo laptops are not designed for gaming. The ones that are , are so overpriced for the specs they give you. There are actual companies out there that make specific laptops just for gaming.
True gaming laptops will not use AMD anymore. AMD heats up more and intel/Nvidia is better.

Like I posted above if you push a non- gaming laptop to run this game it has the potential to ruin or shorten the life span of a computer. http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Your_Computer_is_Like_a_Car

    which is better choice ?
    500GB SAMSUNG 960 EVO NVMe M.2 PCI-Express Gen 3x4 SSD
500GB Western Digital Blue M.2 MSATA SSD [ subtract $120.00]
500GB Samsung M.2 MSATA 850 EVO series SSD

Either Samsung ones will be good. The 960 will be faster than the 850 but this usually only affects boot time for any program. It doesn't really affect your Sims 4 game (except when you open the game).

The samsung ones were over $100 more.. not worth the price. the western digital has good reviews. Usually samsung is cheaper for desktops but not the case for laptop SSD.

Hi guys, I can't post my own thread but I need input. I'm in the market for a gaming laptop and have narrowed my searches down to three, and i know that some of you are very experienced with the specs of laptops/desktops. Also, NOT in the market for a desktop - no room for it and I know some people swear by it but as someone who's in college, I need something portable.

I have stopped playing TS4 on my Macbook as I can't get anything over low settings, and I want to be able to play on medium-high/high settings (I'd say Ultra but.. Who knows). Anyways! long story short, just need input!! Thanks in advance.

    Here are the laptops:

The laptops are fine at cyberpower but you need to customize them. Making sure you have enough hard drive space. They usually only offer smaller hard drives. You may want free shipping etc. We usually do the customization for people here and save the configuration.

i totally agree, it can damage the laptop or computer if you play games is too demanding for the laptop, that's why i never played GTA on my old Acer Aspire V 15 as it would never handle the game even at the lowest settings, it's not advised to play heavily demanding games on a non-gaming laptop, at least a gaming laptop with a NVIDIA GeForce Laptop can handle the games, unlike a normal everyday and light gaming laptop, sims only requires a medium-high end laptop

Would you be able to help me with the customization? The highest I'm willing to pay is 1300-1500$ and when it comes to ram/hard drives I'm not sure what to do and the difference between everything. I want something that I can atleast play on Ultra or high settings with. I'm also wanting Nvidia 1070 and i7, but besides those two things I don't know what I'm working with.

I know! The laptops get so expensive, but I figured its an investment for the long run and my best bet because I don't have the space for a desktop. That'll be another venture for another day. With the laptop you linked me, the 1070 one, will that be able to play on medium-high or ultra? I've played on low graphics for so long that I'd like to really experience the game for once.
