THE DETAILS

What exactly is this challenge about?
Humble Homes Real Estate challenge is all about building! This means creating an actual building, decorating the inside and outside, and doing landscaping. Each task will have different requirement guidelines that you must follow carefully. But don't fret, the creative genius is all up to you, our new realtors!

How does this challenge work?
Every two weeks, on Sunday, I will be posting a new challenge for all of you lovely Simmers to join if you so desire. You will be given information about the sim/sims you are helping as a realtor. This means that you'll be given a bit of information on sim/sims you are building for, such as their likes, dislikes, whether they want a home/business, what style, etc. You don't have to sign up in advance in order to participate. You simply read the challenge posted every other Sunday, and if it catches your interest, you create a build for it. Each task gives the creators two weeks to complete the build before it is due. The submissions will then be put into a poll created specifically for that task and people will have one week to choose their favorite before the poll closes and the winner is announced. You can do as many or as few of the challenge tasks that you like. You don't have to participate in each building challenge that is given.

Who gets to vote on a winner for each task?
Anyone who reads the thread will have the opportunity to vote. It doesn't matter if they are participants or just people who are appreciating the builds of the creators. If they read the thread and decide they want to vote for a winner, they are more than welcome to do so. Each person gets one vote and at the end of the voting week, the winner will be announced. I will be using Poll Maker to create the voting polls at the end of each challenge task.

What do I actually win for participating?
Well, anyone that submits an entry will get the chance to be showcased in this challenges Hall of Fame! On top of that you will be listed in both the Hall of Fame and the Contributor posts with the task number you've completed as well as displaying your Origin name for people to view/download your entry. Other possible winnings might crop up in the future, but that's all we're promising for now.

Do I earn anything even if I don't win?
Yes. I believe that everyone should be appreciated for the work that they put into their builds. We will have a Contributor section that will list all of the people who have participated in each task. We'll list your name under the task number that you participated for, display one picture of your choosing, and list your Origin name so people can view/download your entry.

THE RULES
________________________________________

GENERAL RULES
1. You have to create a realtor sim that will be the face of all your builds.
2. You must follow each tasks guidelines. Make sure that you read the guidelines for each task thoroughly before starting the task. It would be awful if you put in hours of work on something only to realize that you didn’t do it right. Trust me, I’ve made this mistake.
3. You can only use the following cheats: testingcheats, freerealestate, bb.moveobjects, bb.showhiddenobjects, and bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement.
4. All expansion/stuff packs are allowed.
5. You cannot use custom content in your builds.
6. You cannot use pre-made rooms/houses. This means no styled rooms already in the game and no rooms downloaded from the gallery.
7. You have two weeks, from start to finish, to complete each task. Due dates will be given when each task is posted.
8. You cannot steal builds from other people or use another person’s build as your own.
9. Always test your house to make sure everything is functional. We are uploading these into the community gallery and we want to make sure we are uploading things that will work for people that download your builds.
10. When you share your building entry on the gallery, please use the hashtag #HumbleHomes and make a note of which task number it is.
11. MOST IMPORTANTLY - have fun!!

REALTOR RULES
1. Because this is a real estate company run by my sim Hannah, you will be required to make a realtor sim that represents your builds. What I mean by this is that each house/building you submit is considered a house/building your fictional realtor is trying to sell to our client.
2. Move your realtor sim onto the lot once your build is complete. Use this realtor sim to test everything on your lot to make sure it works properly before uploading it to the gallery.
3. When you are finished with building/decorating the entire lot you will be required to make a portfolio for your entry. This means you should go all around the outside and inside of the build taking pictures from all angles. Try to get the best/most artistic pictures you possibly can to place in your portfolio. Make sure that you take a good picture of your realtor sim somewhere around or in the building/lot you make. If you win, this picture will be used to make a banner for your signature...so make sure it’s a good one that you really like!
4. Upload your pictures to a photo sharing website that allows visitors to access your photos. You will be expected to give this link on your entry form when you submit it so that people can view your whole house, inside and out, so that can decide which they like best.
5. You must use the same realtor sim whenever you participate in a task. This person is supposed to be the face that represents the builder. That doesn’t me it has to look like you. You can make your sim look however you want. Their face will just be one one representing you as a build throughout this challenge and on the winning banners if you win.
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO ASK!! I'm more than happy to clarify anything that you might have questions about.

SUGGESTIONS

Uploading Build Photos:
When you are finished building you will need to take a bunch of pictures to show it off. Instead of adding all of the pictures in this thread, you will be expected to upload you images to an image hosting site like Photobucket, Imgur, Image Shake, etc. Make sure that you create a separate, public album for each build you submit here. This will ensure that people can view all of your images and vote accordingly.

Taking Good Pictures:
To get pictures with good angles you will have to move your realtor sim onto the lot. Once you've moved him/her in you simply press the tab button. This will allow you to zoom in, zoom out, angle up, angle down, and rotate easily. Try to make sure your rooms/lot are brightly lit. There's nothing worse than darkened rooms because it makes it difficult to see all of the detail and work you've put in. Other than that, just try to take pictures that are visually pleasing.

Making Good Builds:
I would never claim to be the best builder out there. I've seen sooo many great builds/builders out there, people far better at creating than I am. However I do know that the best way to make to good build is to take your time. Don't rush yourself! You've got two weeks to complete your builds. Try new things, even if you think they're silly! Don't be afraid to take a risk. Put in the effort of add decorations and detail.

Late Entries/Participants
If you happen to come along after a challenge finishes, but you'd really like to do the task, you may still submit an entry for it. However, because the winner will have been chosen you won't win anything for your efforts. But, we'll list your name under the task number that you participated for, display one picture of your choosing, and list your Origin name so people can view/download your entry.

Challenge #5 - A Geek's Zion
1zp2tzn.jpg
s64z8x.jpg

Good morning my lovely realtors! I hope you're all ready for another challenging task. Your job this time around shouldn't be too difficult, though it is quite sizeable, meaning it'll take you a little longer. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle. They are a nice middle-aged couple who live in a picturesque neighborhood(Google Wisteria Lane to get a feel for the style neighborhood they live in). In their very own words, 'they live in a perfect home, like something out of Home and Gardens, and they can't imagine ever moving.' So, this might make you ask why they came to see us at all. Well, it would seem Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle have a grown child that still lives at home.

Their son/daughter just turned eighteen. They aren't quite ready to move out of mom and dad's house, but they want a place to call their own too. After much discussion, Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle decided that they would add/renovate a place on their property or in their home to accommodate their child, but there was a catch. Their son/daughter has to either have a job or be attending university to still live a home. If they do this, they are allowed to live at home until they either save enough to get their own place or finish school and get a job. Now, there are a few options as to where this new accommodation can be. They have a spacious basement that is unused, a large storage over their garage, and enough space in the back yard to build an apartment. So, they would like you to take a look around and decide which of the three places you want to build/renovate.

This new accommodation should have a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen/livingroom(can be one or two rooms). It should also fit the personality of their child. Their son/daughter is a nerdy gamer with a passion for sci-fi/fantasy. They have an impressive book/comic book collection that must fit somewhere in their apartment. Because he/she is a gamer there should be a computer available for them to play on when they aren't at work/school. He/she likes deep purple, lime green, and black when it comes to color schemes. As for the style, that is entirely up to you. Just keep in mind that they like gaming, comic books/books, and sci-fi/fantasy. Incorporating those into this home should be a given.

*PLEASE READ THE CHALLENGE DETAILS CAREFULLY*

CHALLENGE ONE - A CAPTIVATING CABIN
2rgi5o9.jpg

Meet Ryan and Madeline Quentin, a lovely young couple looking for a place to call home. The pair of them are in search of a rustic style cabin to settled down in. At the moment it's just the pair of them, but they're looking to start a family. That means they need room in their new home for a family to grow. However, it was mentioned that they didn't want a house with rooms that have a lot of extra wasted space. They're looking for something cozy and warm. The couple also wants their house on a piece of property that has a nice, naturally growing yard/garden. They don't want something overly landscape, wanting to keep the beauty of the wilderness around them, but they do want an area for a fruit/veggie garden.

Ryan is a carpenter by trade. He loves woodworking, so he'll need a room or workshop that will allow him a work space of his own. He's also an active, outdoorsy type of person that loves fishing. It would be great if there was a nearby place for him to do that. When it comes to interior design Ryan has said he likes earthy colors, but he's not overly picky about it because he spends most of his time enjoying nature.

Madeline is employed as a florist. Having a fruit/veggie/flower garden is important for her, so you'll need to make sure you build a place that fits this need. A nice big kitchen is also a must have for Madeline because she loves cooking. She also enjoys the outdoors, spending much of her free time gardening or reading in the garden. Madeline mentioned that she likes deep blues, greens, and purples when it comes to interior design, and that she loves appreciating good pieces of art throughout her home.

CHALLENGE DETAILS
Due Date: July 17th (For this first challenge I'm giving you nearly three weeks to complete it because I meant to post it last Sunday and wound up posting it late. So, you'll get some extra time for this challenge. ;))
Budget: Unlimited

Requirements:
1. House style should be that of a cabin.
2. There must be a decent sized kitchen for Madeline.
3. There must be a room/workshop for Ryan's carpentry.
4. There must be an area of the yard dedicated to Madeline's garden.

Optional:
1. A fishing hole for Ryan
2. A reading area for Madeline in the garden.
3. A naturally growing yard.
4. Use earthy colors/deep blues/greens/purples for interior decorating.
5. Use plenty of artwork throughout the house for Madeline.

CHALLENGE TWO - OLD IRISH PUB
w7y5gm.jpg

This afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting a nice man named, Mick O'Lagáin. He informed me that he had recently come into a bit of money and he wants nothing more than to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning an authentic Old Irish Pub, to honor both his heritage and his love of good draft beers. We discussed his financial standing for the building at great lengths, and I’m happy to say it’s quite a chunk of cash. He settled on 55,000 simoleons to spend on building an authentic Irish pub, which should be more than enough money to accomplish this task.

Mr. O'Lagáin gave me a list of details outlining what he’s really looking for. He wants a pub that has a friendly, inviting atmosphere. It’s a place that he wants his customers to always feel welcome and at home. He would like the pub to feel warm, familiar, and have decor that is authentic for an Irish pub. Mick pictures dark woods, wooden stool, and wooden tables scattered closely around the interior. He wants the pub full of character for all of the different characters that will come through the door. It must have drinks readily available, as well as food for snacking on. He also doesn’t want his patrons to get bored, so having something like a stereo, a tv, a dart board, or the like would be a bonus. Mick also said that though it isn’t a necessity, he would like a unisex bathroom on the premises.

The exterior of the pub is also important. He believes that the outside should be inviting and well laid out. It shouldn’t have a ton of clutter around the entrance of the pub, but there should be some sort of seating outside for those that want to step away from the buzz of conversation inside.

CHALLENGE DETAILS
Due Date: July 31st by midnight GMT
Budget: 55,000

Requirements:
1. This must be a community lot in the style of an old Irish pub.
2. It must have room for boisterous patrons to drink and socialize, but not be overly spacious.
3. There should be food/drinks available.
4. There should be something fun for the patrons to do whilst at the pub.
5. The outside of the lot should be tidy and pleasing to the eye.

Optional:
1. Have a toilet on the premises.
2. Use dark woods during building.
3. Add hints to the Irish theme.(Greens/whites/golds/etc!)

CHALLENGE THREE - APARTMENTS APART
11tx0f7.jpg

Greetings realtors! I hope that you’re all keen to get to work hard today because I have quite the task for you this time around. This afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting the wealthy Draper sisters, Cecily and Penelope. They’re currently looking for an apartment closer to their university saying something about not wanting to commute from Willow Creek, where their family estate is, to Newcrest. At first, I thought that their request was pretty straight forward. We needed one apartment able to accommodate two young adult females with very different personalities. However, I soon found out that I hadn’t originally understood their request. They were looking for an apartment, but they were looking for an apartment for each of them.

That’s right, my busy little bees. We don’t need one apartment...we need two! Not only that, these apartments have to be close to each other. That means they either need to be in the same building or, if they are separate buildings, nearby each other on the same lot.

Penelope is an outgoing social butterfly. She wants to be friends with everyone she meets and she strives to get to know each individual she comes in contact with. Her requirements for an apartment are very basic: living room, bathroom, kitchen/dining area, and a bedroom. However, she wants a special office area somewhere in the house to focus on her business career, and she also wants to have the perfect apartment for entertain all of the friends that’ll be coming and going. Penelope is a very feminine/girly sim that likes pretty decorations and dusty pinks/purples.

Cecily, on the other hand, is the polar opposite! She just wants a space where she will feel comfortable being on her own. She’s a bit of an antisocial sim with a bad habit of being clumsy, so she spends a lot of time inside her home brushing up on her musical skills, instead of out and about where she could risk embarrassing herself. It’s very important to her that she has instruments throughout the apartment that will let her focus on her musical career. Cecily is definitely a feminine sim, but she’s nothing like her girly sister. She likes well-decorated rooms that are done in neutral colors(black/white/gray) with bright accent colors.

CHALLENGE DETAILS
Due Date: August 21st by midnight GMT
Budget: 100,000

Requirements:
1. There must be two apartments on one lot. They can both be in one building or they can be separate buildings side by side.
2. Both apartments must contain, at the minimum, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen/dining room area, and 1 living room.
3. Penelope’s apartment should have :
- A special office/desk area with a computer for perfecting her business skills.
- Furnishing/Items for entertaining friends/hosting parties.
4. Cecily’s apartment must contain:
- Musical instruments for building her music skills.
- Entertaining items to keep herself occupied in her alone time.

Optional:
1. Use dusty pinks/purples/creams to decorate/furnish Penelope’s home.
2. Use neutral colors such as black/white/gray with bright accent pieces to decorate/furnish Cecily’s home.
3. Make a communal socializing area outside of the apartment for the sisters. This could be a swimming pool, hot tub, sitting area, or whatever else you can think of. Cecily doesn’t like to socialize often, but when she does it’s usually with her sister.

CHALLENGE FOUR - A KNOWLEDGEABLE OPPORTUNITY
2u9sfwl.jpg

Good afternoon, realtors! Today I’ve got quite the task for you. I know it was long in the coming, but I can guarantee that the reason behind the long wait was a good one. As most of you know, I was called away unexpectedly for a client meeting a few weeks ago. What I didn’t mention when I rushed out was that it was a call from Mayor Kinsley, of all people. You see, she has big plans for sprucing up Willow Creek. Over the next few years she would like to start replacing some of the well worn business to rejuvenate the town, turning it into a thing of beauty. The community building that she wants us to work on first is none other than the library. We’ve spent the last few weeks putting our heads together to create an idea of the sort of library the Mayor Kinsley wants in her town.

She has said that the new library must be built on the current bit of land that the old one occupies. It is a historical piece of property that she wants to reuse for this new build. Mayor Kinsley has asked the the new library be spacious, filled to the brim with books. There must be a special section for children to enjoy while at the library. She wants this area to be filled with bookshelves stuffed with kids books, and a reading area for the lucky kiddos. Computers must be readily available for people to use for researching. Libraries are places filled with knowledge, and it must be a perfect place for students to do their studies. Restrooms must be on the premises. Comfort is also very important to the Mayor. She wants everyone to feel at home while in this new building. There should also be a check-out desk for those wanting to rent books. On the exterior of the building Mayor Kinsley has stressed that there should be plenty of landscaping done. She want’s the building to be bright, beautiful, and inviting.

So, what do you think? Are you up for the challenge?

CHALLENGE DETAILS
Due Date: September 11th by midnight GMT
Budget: Unlimited

Requirements:
1. The new library must be built on a 30x20 lot.
2. There must be a kids reading/sitting area

4. There must be a bathroom.
5. There must be a check-out desk.
6. There must be pretty landscaping done to the exterior.

Optional:

CHALLENGE FIVE - A GEEK'S ZION

Good morning my lovely realtors! I hope you're all ready for another challenging task. Your job this time around shouldn't be too difficult, though it is quite sizeable, meaning it'll take you a little longer. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle. They are a nice middle-aged couple who live in a picturesque neighborhood(Google Wisteria Lane to get a feel for the style neighborhood they live in).
