The plumbob. It's classic. Even people who haven't played The Sims in years recognize it.
Classic

Ah, the original plumbob. Windows 98 shading. Classic.

You can no longer see every pixel! 2004 was a good year.

A real gemstone.

I find the Sims 4 plumbob to very closely resemble the Sims 2 plumbob, but what can I say? If something works, why get rid of it? Classic.

The Sims 3 one is the only one that looks edible to me - it's like a boiled sweet.

It is lime and crunchy - the others are stupid.

While Sims 3 is my favourite out of the series game-wise, I do prefer the look of the Sims 2 plumbobs. Maybe it's nostalgia

Each one reflects the aesthetics of their time. Gel and emboss were in around the mid to late 2000's, which explains the TS3 plumbob. Personally, that one's my favorite. :) It looks so...lime-flavored. Flat colors and simple shapes started to go in fashion around the early 2010's, but now I think subtle color gradients are in, which is why the TS4 plumbob looks the way it does.

I had graphic designer and web developer friends in college, so I started to become slightly aware of these trends then. :)

3 is my favorite. It's so pretty. 4's looks too much like 2's.

Honestly, it's the most beautiful, just like Sims 3. Sims 3 is and always has been my favorite, except that it's nearly unplayable now on my computer because I messed up a graphics card fix, and now I have some bad cc I can't remove and my game keeps crashing and my options won't save O.O

Yeah, I always did find that one weird whenever I watched the intro movie.

Regardless of how nice graphics are in the Sims 4, the Sims 3 will always be my favorite, as will it's plumbob.

Oh wow, TS1's plumbbob is so vintage-looking now that I see it in comparison to the others. Such good memories!

TS3's is very pretty, I agree. Like a marquis-cut peridot. But I must say the TS2's is my favorite because it was such a Step Up from the previous game. I mean, look at it! It was so pretty and different and REALISTIC in comparison! That was when The Sims started becoming more realistic and less of a dollhouse. Nostalgia.
