I love Sunlit Tides in the sunshine, but I just discovered I love it even more in the fog - it looks more like a real place, with a wet, lush tropical feeling:
What made me suspect Riverview was the start of the tall mountain on the left edge. That mountain features in many of my Riverview pictures.
@cwaddell , I guess I had not noticed that mountain, although I've seen your pics of Riverview. My sims own a resort up by the fish hatchery and I chose that location mainly based on the views of the lake there. The mountain peak really does stand out though.
Completely unrelated, my sim was in Egypt and I caught this sunrise. I though it might be hot that day, and it was. My poor sim spent the day excavating dig sites and ended up badly burned.

Great picture and your resort looks interesting. I haven't tried running a resort yet. You mentioned in another thread that you like running one. What are the things you like about it?

@cwaddell , At first I found resorts somewhat disappointing. There's nothing really there for an owner sim to do. I gradually realized running a resort is not really a sim activity, it's mostly a player activity. Once I started thinking of resorts as a directed building challenge for players I started to like them more. There's a handful of amenities which need to be on the lot to keep patrons happy and improve the resort rating (which in turn improves profits). Resort reviews point out what amenities guests want, like a fire walking pit, another hot tub, another buffet table, a snack bar, bigger gym, etc. That's the directed part. Then it's up to me to fit the specific amenity on the lot and revamp as necessary. That's the building part.
I like customizing home lots for whatever my sims need, and I prefer to keep the existing character of the lot intact. I realized while playing the Isla Paradiso resorts that running a resort encouraged me to do exactly that. So I ended up enjoying having my sims own a resort much more than I anticipated.
The resort in the picture above is originally from mysimrealty (the Super 8 Motel from this page). I put it on a larger lot and added to it as I needed to. It's functional and looks ok, if a little haphazard. I'm not a builder at all.
I have created a resort from scratch though. I wrote myself a challenge to have a sim build a resort on an empty lot and to furnish it through theft, dumpster diving, and salvaging. I kept it simple and I suppose it turned out ok. It's not polished though, and my landscaping efforts were minimal.
Basically, I find modifying existing lots into resorts to be fun, and getting the resort to 5 stars with glowing reviews to be rewarding. Plus my sims make some nice money (~15k a day from the Riverview one) and they get access a hot tub, pool, free spa, free food, etc. as part of the deal.
Sunset Valley (Sunset Cloud Shots) - with Photoshop Elements (simulated Graduated Neutral Density (GND) Filters - I actually own a set of Lee GND soft filters as well as a 10 stop neutral density filter for my landscape photography in real life.)
10 stop would be hard to simulate in Sims 3 without a lot of work, so here's what it actually looks like in real life.

Riverview? Lovely colors.
Yes! I haven't played Riverview in a long time. I thought the terrain in the screenshot was fairly generic, lol. I loved the colors too.
