Currently I have 4 fur people in my house. Sadie, Lulu, Lilly, and Smokey. Sadie and Smokey are brother and sister just as Lulu and Lilly are sisters. They're all about 12 now. Wow! It's hard to believe they're that old now. At one time we had close to 15 cats varying in age from 6-weeks to 23 years. The elders all died off from old age, and others died from disease such as cancer. So now we have the remaining youngest fur people left.
Sadie and Smokey are rescues. Originally they came from the woods near a nearby beach and swimming area. This was back in April 2003 when my sister and her fiancé were out for a walk when they heard some meowing. They traced down the faint little voices to find a mother cat, who we later called Mum and her three kittens, which were treed. Mom cat was guarding her kids from dogs while these tiny fur balls were up just at arms reach overhead. Sister and boyfriend came back and got someone, me in this case, to help them rescue the cats. I reached up and picked the kittens out of the tree, and picked up Mum without a scratch. She didn't fight and let me pick her and the litter up.
We brought them home and put them all in a back spare room. I had my digital piano in there and my computer, but other than that, no one else touched anything. The four really tiny kittens were still nursing and we kept everyone together. We had a local vet take a look at them and she said they were about 4-weeks old. Mom, or Mum, was a grey Maltese with a white bib while her kittens were different. Smokey is all grey, like Mum, but has long hair and gold eyes. Sadie is also long-haired and has Siamese markings and white feet, and Mollie was a black and white American shorthair, and the runt of the already small siblings.
We had all four of these cats until recently, or until Mum developed a brain tumor or large cyst. She sadly died last year along with Mollie a few months later with a similar condition. Smokey and Sadie are left, however, Smokey has issues which were sadly caused by one of my nephews. I will never forgive the kid for this, and sadly the cat is now injured. It hurts too much to say here in the forums. Sadie, seems fine and is quite the brat.
In addition to these cats, we have the two fluffy sisters. They too came from a single litter and were a gift from my other sister's sister-in-law. We got them shortly after the cat family arrived, and were two of the tiniest fluff balls. They are both ragdoll cats and are extremely laid back. Lulu is a thief and will steal socks, shoes, and dog toys (we also have a spoiled dog). Her sister Lilly, a more serious cat steals some things, mostly socks, but beats up the dog! It's quite amusing seeing them walk with these things in their mouths while meowing. What's not so amusing is the clumping and dropping shoes at night as Lulu steals a sneaker or slipper from one of the bedrooms! They both tease and beat up Grommet the dog. They actually corner and gang up on him which is quite funny. No one is hurt, and we think it's a game with him too because he'll take one of his squeaky toys and squeak right in Lilly's face!
All and all, cats are truly special critters. They make good company and good friends.
@CoffeeFreak4Life -- OMG, 10 hours! An online friend said that he used to play the short version when he'd babysit a couple of kids before he went off to college (he's now a grad student); wonder what he'd do with 10 hours of it!

@John_Citron I really love your story Your fur people are awesome and you are a great person with a very kind heart
I feel sorry for those your kitties who died I know - it's really unbearable when your beloved ones suffer and you can't do anything about that. I hope that people visiting this thread won't be greedy for giving you likes so that you become a Member asap and can post here the pictures of your beloved furry people (*)
@x_MG_x the video is lovely, Jake
But I don't think the girl needs crying If she wants a cat, she can adopt a stray one - there are a lot of them, unfortunately. If she isn't allowed to have a cat, she can just help in a rescue centre - pets there really need our love (*)
