    Computer keeps shutting down when playing Sims 4. It is like one second I am playing and next second I am staring at a black screen.

      That's often a sign that your graphics card is overloaded or your computer is overheating. If you post your DxDiag info, one of the more well-versed technical users could give you some sense of which it is. In the meantime, you could try seriously reducing the graphics in your game options; that might help.

      I have the same problem.
      Sims 3 runs fine with all EP's and SP's (highest quality). I really thought S4 wouldn't be a problem...
      The problem started with the demo by the way so I already suspected I wouldn't be able to play.

      DxDiag is a poor choice because of high data content... There is a good site for this...

      Go there and select game from list it will tell you if you need to upgrade anything...

      However, to me it seems like your running a stocked i7 with most likely stock cooling and it appears you have no real graphics card besides the one built in... if this is correct the i7 is performing all the work and is being overheated. Simple suggestion would be to give your system specs once you have run that site..

      also... get this - cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.25-setup.exe - it is direct link to download.. run it and expand it so you can see all data in it. Then take screen shot of it while sims 4 is fully running and upload so we can see it. This program shows temps in the computer..and will help us diagnose.

      MissBadWolf - The part about your video system is missing and that is very important. I see ATI HD 4850 video drivers but the information about the drivers is missing. The ATI 4XXX series dates back to 2008. A first guess is the video card fan is dirty or failing or the card is over heating. As I suspect this computer is more then 4 years old it needs to be checked that the fans are turning correctly and there is plenty of air flow through the case.

      I have the same problem. My computer is shutting down whenever I play the Sims 4. I never had this problem with Sims 3. I already updated my graphics card and RAM to GTX 650 and 4GB RAM. Can you please guys help?

      Check your power supply, fans, and heat sinks. The power supply might no longer be able to put out the power it could before, or you might be overheating for other reasons. Also, give it good dust-out. (It certainly sounds like you're still overheating.) Does your computer try to restart itself?

      ok... so i had this problem with the sims 3... after A LOT of searching i discovered that somewhere in the sim world a sim has glitched/got stuck. and the old fix for this was to use 'resetSim *' which would reset ALL the sims...BUT in sims 4 this is not an option!

      SO how can i fix it u ask? well... i found that you can move your family to the other world. this way you are not trying to run with a glitch! (i have done this and it worked!)
      BUT it will happen again eventually, so my idea is to save my household and lot and reset the world then simply put it back! good luck. i hope u get this and it helps :)

      Hey, I'm having this problem too. Only when playing the sims 4 mind you. I can play Rift, Wildstar, Wow, Sims 3.. whatever. its fine. I have a nice graphics card and plenty of ram ( self built ) but for whatever reason 2 nights in a row when i played the sims.. just ever so suddenly the game froze. I couldnt move the mouse... 3 seconds later the pc shut down.

      When i restarted there was no error message tobe found. I went ot my event viewer and found Event ID 6008 which on the microsoft website reads:

      When you restart the computer after a program that uses the InitiateSystemShutdownEx function shuts it down automatically, the following event may be logged to the System event log:

      I honestly am surprized to see such an error. I do not have a screen saver :/ and its only when playing the sims 4. This has kinda turned me away from playing it lately... Since anything i do unless im saving every few sims days i might lose it.

      Make sure that your graphics drivers are uptodate.

      Try playing in windowed mode and see if that helps.

      If you have cc/mods in your game, move your mods folder to the desktop. Then start the game and see if the issues are still there.

      Sometimes having a large amount of items in the sims inventories and household inventory can cause issues. Try removing some of the items from the inventories and see if that helps.

      Repairing the game may help. To do that, go to games library in Origin, right click on the sims 4 picture and click repair

      Try turning off origin in-game and see if that helps. To do that, go to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture. Click on “Game Properties”. Then untick the box that enables origin in-game


      If the issues remain, could you please post your DxDiag info here.
      To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, do this :
      Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
      You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
      Type dxdiag in the text field
      Click OK
      Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report
      After you have saved your dxdiag info on your computer, go to the pastebin site https://pastebin.com
      and copy/paste the dxdiag info into the white box there. Press the button to create the new paste/pastebin text file.
      Then post here in this thread the web address of your dxdiag info that is on the pastebin site. You will need to replace the http in the address with h.t.t.p as you are a new member and can’t post links.

      Thanks for the reply, I have cc and I've taken it out and played, and it then turned off, checked everything in the Sims files to make sure there is no error and even repaired the game in origin. I then uninstall it and when I go and play another game it happens and shutdowns but when on google or anything not an application like sims or a game that uses a lot of heat it doesn't no matter how hot my computer is. Maybe its a warning or something idk , I've come to the conclusion its, in fact, the heating and i will be going to get it repaired when I am free but for the time being, I'm going to use a cooling pad and see if that works. Thanks for your help :), I'm just bummed i wont be able to play sims this month as the cooling pad I've ordered will take quite a while

      Like @rosemow posted, you need to search your make and model laptop on the lenovo web and update all your drivers.

      Your laptop also does not meet requirements to run the game. it could be part of the problem of your game shutting down or overheating. your laptop is not designed to run this game and is designed for light computer tasks

      Put your laptop on the lowest setting, check off laptop mode and play in windowed mode. This may help a little

      I have similar problems, where my PC sims 4 game shuts-down every time it's in play mode and when I add a new sim; also, recently when I go to the marketplace in the jungle. all I can do is customize sims and play build mode without the shutting down. this problem all started when I got the vampire extension half a year ago. My friend also has this problem. I have contacted EA tech support, but their solution didn't work.

      I already disable/remove my mods and the problem still happen. My PC is brand new and up to date.

      Repairing the game may help. To do that, go to games library in Origin, right click on the sims 4 picture and click repair

      Try turning off origin in-game and see if that helps. To do that, go to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture. Click on “Game Properties”. Then untick the box that enables origin in-game.

      Try playing in windowed mode and see if that helps

      Make sure that your graphics drivers are uptodate.

      If the issues remain, could you please post your DxDiag info here.
      To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, do this :
      Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
      You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
      Type dxdiag in the text field
      Click OK
      Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report

      After you have saved your dxdiag info on your computer, go to the pastebin site https://pastebin.com
      and copy/paste the dxdiag info into the white box there. Press the button to create the new paste/pastebin text file.
      Then post here in this thread the web address of your dxdiag info that is on the pastebin site. You will need to replace the http in the address with h.t.t.p as you are a new member and can’t post links

      Your computer should handle the game well.
      I am wondering if the issue is caused by you having dual graphics cards or using dual screens . Are you using dual screens? One resolution is different to the other resolution. Try just using one screen, and see if the issues remain. If the issues are not occurring, then add the second screen, using the same resolution.
