Is Batuu Build Buy Worth it?

So, I'm really not interested in the gameplay of Journey to Batuu. I like Star Wars but not for my sims. Still, I find myself wondering is the CAS and Build Buy options it gives are worth the (sale) price.

I'd appreciate people's thoughts.

From my experience, I am not sure. From the Build Buy options, the most significant seems to be new game tables and new furniture.
Besides, the pack comes with new dishes to be added to the menus at restaurants and for the sims to learn by eating them. The expansion pack Dine Out is needed for using those options.

Yes, but coming from me must not be a surprise.
I skip babling about the gameplay as you're not interested about that, but I do it occasionally for funsies ...

    Loving the CAS/BB. <3

I bought the pack because I like some more goal oriented gameplay every now and then. I do get use out of some items when I am not playing on batuu (which is most of the time) . I think the picnic bench is the prettiest one in the game. The stone floors, the curved bar and some of the clutter objects are also very useful. There are some old vases that can be used in a very versatile way . the miniature spaceships make nice accents in kids rooms or for more nerdy sims.
For CAS I really like some of the hairs.
Not exactly a build/buy item but I also like the food options which my sims unlock by eating them in a restaurant in oasis springs.

If you like the items, it could be worth getting it on sale but I wouldn't recommend it at full price.

It depends on what kind of style/ theme interests you!

For me, buying this game pack for Build/Buy & CAS alone is 100% worth it. Since JtB is pretty much an advertisement for the Disney themepark Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, you can expect high quality items (mesh/texture) that are above standard TS4 level. Attention to detail is excellent, in my opinion.

JtB's BB items live predominantly in my medieval / fantasy/ / steampunk, abandoned lots and (non Star Wars related) spaceships, which is pretty much all of my builds! There are some fantastic items in the DEBUG catalogue as well, such as overhead electrical wires (great for abandoned buildings) , sockets and a rag tree + fantasy tree that you won't find anywhere else. The Sabacc game is a must!

    JtB-Build/Buy quick overview:
    JtB-BB01.jpg
    JtB-BB02.jpg
    JtB-BB03.jpg

CAS is excellent as well, especially if you play medieval-ish, post-apocalypse or sci fi. There are plenty of different colour swatches to choose from too.

    JtB-CAS quick overview:
    Jt-B-CAS01.jpg
    Jt-B-CAS02.jpg
    Jt-B-CAS03.jpg

The great thing about build mode and CAS is that- with the exception of 2 or 3 items- none of it screams Star Wars. It's a very versatile pack and right up there with my favourite packs.

I also think it's completely worth it, especially on sale. The collections of build/buy and CAS are some of the most unique and interesting out of all the packs.

The build/buy has some really cool pieces and I've seen some amazingly creative builds ranging from Apocalyptic/desert survival to shabby futuristic/Alien builds, to Steampunk and retro-futurist. The art design on all the items totally nailed it.

The CAS is one of my absolute favorites and I use it all the time. They are not only good for adding more Aliens and for Sim Alien wardrobes, but also for a variety of styles. I'll share some of my looks if you want to get an idea...
The head wrap piece that Alina is wearing in this picture is one of my absolute favorites and the outfits are awesome too. That hair is also in the pack
    GZHw4FO.jpg
There are many great male styles in this pack that I use all the time (the female looks are mixed with other CAS)

    pNgK7We.jpg
The pants on the right in this pic are from Batuu, I love them, they are great for Goth looks
    rFCKeib.png
Before the Werewolves pack, I made a crew of wolf pirates using Vampires and the Batuu CAS came in handy here as well
    G5bl0TR.jpg
This strange head piece is pretty cool, I used it both for my Naga and my Nuns (the facial lines also come in the pack)

The outfit on the right and the head thorns I used for the demon form of my Hades overlord

There's even outfits for children and toddlers!

    s2JlGHU.png
This "skirt" piece is so cool, I used it as a wrap for my Fae king
    WhjyjkP.jpg
I love the layered look of some of the clothing. This is my Alien and a Spellcaster (my android Jedi) in Batuu
    wEMRP3j.png
    BoareFy.png
Some pieces really came in handy for my four horsemen of the Simpocalypse; War's helmet, Famine's outfit, and Pestilence's top and head piece are all from Batuu

If you have the EA app and you click on the Batuu pack and scroll down, you'll be able to see everything that comes in the build/buy and CAS. :)

Also, if you want to look at some screenshots and sharing of what other people have done, these threads are great sources:

The Batuu Positive Thoughts thread is huge, and some of the pics might not be active in the early pages, so I'd suggest going to the last page and working backwards to find some great pics.

the cas from JTB is among my favorite and I really enjoy the build items They are very unique. The bar stuff I used always in clubs and makes it look incredibly better. the overhead light fixtures are something like antique meet futuristic. I love to used them when I can because there is nothing like it in game.
I have yet to play the storyline, as I tried once and it was totally boring, but I will someday. I haven't played many of the story lines but will as I paid for them. Strangerville will be next on my to do list.

I only got it cause I was using bundle discount for Horse Ranch and it was only GP I didn't have

wouldn't say its super useful its mostly just " oh this one item goes here nicely, cool" kind of build items to me

like James Turner multiple times said
    "Oh! Batuu!"

but also I am probably most clueless person to ask about Star Wars on this planet so yeah wouldn't know what to use this pack for if I tried πŸ˜‚

Sims 4 JtB is so cool for a futuristic SiFi play thanks to the cool build mode objects & CAS. I do however recommend the worlds:
    Oasis Springs - Base
    Strangerville
    Evergreen Harbor - Eco Living

Also, for additional SiFi fun to use the following packs:
Discover University - Servo Robot & Foxfury Science Tree
Get Famous - SiFi Props objects
Get to Work - Aliens Lifestate, Sixam objects & Science Career objects
    :pB)<3;)

Unfortunately, Sims 4 doesn't have Time Machines or even Lunar Lake. :'(

    BB.ShowHiddenObjects BB.ShowLiveEditObjects

Yes, I find the build/buy to be very useful in all types of builds. I'm working on a steampunk science lab and will be using a lot of the items from Batuu. The light fixtures are awesome! I also like the CAS and mix and match the items (especially some of the tops and jackets) from the pack with other CAS items. It's also fun to take a break from regular sim life and go to Batuu for awhile.

A question for those with the pack, do townies walk around in those masks? I feel mask is the incorrect term but costume doesn't feel any better. Specifically asking about those horns and the ones in the 1st and 3rd row. If I gotta rely on a mod so they don't 😫 QbvxFA6.png

    @BlueSeaWaves , not in my game :)

Once did, but that was because of a mod. I had a mod that nuked townie spawning too well, even gamebreaking "well" , then it did. But that was years ago. :)

@BlueSeaWaves No, townies don't spawn with the alien heads. Devs let us know when the pack was released that those are actual heads that can be selected, as they animate. They do spawn in Batuu, as that location is programmed a little differently than any other "vacation" world. CAS is limited there for our own Sims, unfortunately, as is building, as it's supposed to be an immersive Star Wars experience, which I do understand, but I still wish Occult powers worked there. But I digress.

So no, all the heads and weird accessories do not generate randomly on Sims. They were designed to only do so in Batuu. If they do, it's a bug, but I've never had an issue with it myself.

I rarely use the actual Batuu game play, but I use the CAS and Build Buy stuff a lot.

Build items are good for junky, industrial, military, and alien lot builds. Sabbacc game is nice for creating a casino or a bar where sims gamble. I also LOVE all the hanging and wall lights. I resize them smaller and use them in all sorts of builds.
CAS stuff I actually used most for creating a crew of pirates, but also great for nerdy sims, aliens, spellcasters, imaginary desert based cultures, or other creative stories.

(I also love the weird drinks. And when my sim does go to Batuu, he mostly moonlights as a bartender and earns tips, which he then loses in gambling. Because this is the Sims, so I can play that way. Sometimes I just want to serve weird drinks to weird customers.)

@Ellupelluellu Thank goodness, lmao I read it as you nuked townies then saw spawning πŸ˜†

@LiELF Thank you, thats what I was curious about. I have no problem with sims having those heads in the Batuu, it was just beyond thatπŸ˜ƒ

I play on console with no CC, so I need access to every pack possible. When I download lots off the gallery, I am surprised how many Batuu items are used. First I bought everything for PC, then I rebought everything for console. If I had to rebuy a third time, Batuu would not be at the top of my list, but I would rebuy it.

Not only do townies NOT spawn with alien heads outside of Batuu; if you add a Batuu alien to your household and take them to a residential world with you, they lose their alien CAS features and become a normal human sim. I was a bit disappointed by that.

Awww, I enjoyed looking back through those threads.

@luciusstorm did you decide yet? I really enjoy using the BB stuff from this pack. Some of it gives off a great 'trash' vibe and can be used in those seedy neighbourhoods/poverty builds. The sabaac game is great for that secret gambling room in the back of a bar. The flooring is nice and I use that all the time. A lot of the pieces blend well with Steampunk builds. Some of the clothing can be used with 'normal' items to create a standard kind of look.

I'm not a Star Wars fan in any shape or form but I have thoroughly enjoyed the pack pieces. I even take some sims to Batuu occasionally - I pretend it's a theme park and some of my geeky sims are Star Wars fans and get a kick out of visiting and bringing back their very own light sabre.

@elanorbreton, I think I have... I like to try to give these questions a good run before I say that, because I find I get interesting answers.

In this case, it sounds like the general consensus is that Batuu's CAS and Build Buy options make it worth picking up, on sale at least. So, yeah, I think I will.

I want to thank everyone who has chimed in. @LiELF, thanks for showing some awesome sims that really showed off the potentials. @BlueSeaWaves, thanks for asking an important follow up question. Everyone else, just because I didn't tag you doesn't mean I don't really appreciate your comments! You're all Awesome and Insightful. :)
