They had no time to stick to their original plans and concept arts
First they have been working so hard so they could make for you guys the monthly stuff packs
Plus it will be TOO EXPENSIVE if they keep everything.
Get Together is packed with features more than anything EA has released in the past. They are afraid it will be too much overwhelming so they had to remove some of the many core features to make it more fun and more suitable to you.
Everything I post is an opinion here and I think every post of others is as well.
The only good thing I can say about Windenburg so far is that it seems they've tied the neighborhoods together. Meaning you can "see" part of one neighborhood from another. That's a major plus in world design, but the 5 lot maximum is definitely a major downside.
Welcome to The Sims 4. It's a major downer indeed and makes you wonder if we will ever be able to have the large life filled worlds we once had in The Sims 3 back ever again.
Are we talking about the same game? I think Sims 4 worlds have more life than Sims 3. The lots actually have people. There is people on streets. There is public spaces. I prefer loading screens than having no one everywhere I go.
But there are Sims on my sidewalks in TS2 and TS3 and they are in cars in TS3 driving by my Sim's house. I don't know why some of you guys don't see any Sims. I can zoom in to any place in the TS3 (depending on time of day just like TS4 does) and see Sims hanging out doing stuff even if my Sim is at work. And I sent my Sims to the gym in the SN EP Town last time I played and there were twenty Sims in there and it was too crowded, my Sim couldn't get a machine. And I see my Sim's neighbors every time they come home and leave again. And they stand out on their sidewalk and talk to other townies. I just don't understand why some people don't really see Sims in TS3. I go to the park and it's full unless it's midnight. I go to the festivals and may have to wait a few minutes but they are full eventually. And I can go way off to some obscure section of town and see Sims fishing, just like the lone wolf Sims in TS4 standing out by themselves fishing. I'm sorry but that hasn't been my experience with TS3 since I changed the config files to reflect my processor and video care could handle more Sims. It's true this is set too low for many video cards and setting that correctly is a world of difference for some players who do have better video cards the game rated too low to see more Sims.

Why were TS3 worlds empty? Just do the math. In TS4 up to 20 Sims are on a lot at one time. A typical TS3 world easily has at least 20 community lots and then 30 residential lots (and that's very low really, a lot of TS3 worlds have 100+ lots). In order to maintain, say, 15 Sims on each community lot, an average of 2 Sims on each residential lot, and then another 50 Sims driving/on the sidewalk. That's a total of 410 living Sims required to make the world feel as alive as a TS4 world, and that figure doesn't even include pets.
The game would crash so hard if it were to handle 400+ Sims at one time. And don't tell me you have a good computer so that's totally feasible. TS3 is a 32-bit program; it cannot use the RAM required to handle that many Sims.
@Cinebar I don't see sims in my Sims 3 town after a few generations of play (unless I use mods). In a mod free game, my town is a ghost town without direct intervention from me. It's one of the reasons I prefer TS4 to TS3. What you see in your sims 3 game is completely different from what I see. I'm glad TS3 works for you, but that was not my playing experience by any means. TS4 is far more lively for me with multiple opportunities to engage townies and neighbors in conversation throughout the day. I definitely didn't have that option in TS3. I didn't see sims often in TS2 either, which is why I lived in an apartment. It fixed that issue as apartments were brilliantly done in TS2. I hope TS4 sees the addition of apartments done in a Sims 2 style (with improvements of course lol).
On topic, I can't wait for more information on Windenburg! This is a town modeled after my own heart, and I am already dreaming about little tudors with voodoo doll rooms and an herbalist's kitchen. I'm so happy to finally have a town that isn't super modern!
I saw that too, and it's a cute addition for immersion since I would rather see fx sheep than that blasted steamboat, but it's still just fx. We won't be able to interact with the fluffy sheep. ::moment of silence for the sweet sheep::

I know, but if it's rolling countryside with fx sheep it will help with the immersion of a farm type of lot. I may then move my couple that are living off the land over there if the lots look right!
I would love for there to be no other background houses in rows, but rather rolling hills with sheep! It would really help with their story!

I definitely agree! I remodel a lot of my neighborhoods to host old Victorians, Tudors, and spooky haunts. It's all very immersive until I get to the edges of the neighborhoods. >.< The immersion is broken then by the modern architecture in the backdrops. Windenburg is going to be glorious for this! I would definitely prefer rolling hills with sheep to all those houses in the backdrop! I'm excited for it, but it kind of really makes me want pets now. LOL

I hope you get to see the real pictures soon. I love Victorian houses and that type of scenery. I just can't break out of it since TS2. I rarely build and or play modern houses. They are nice and pretty but I usually tear everyone of them down in Willow Creek. lol

But what I wrote was true in my game. My gym in TS3 is fuller than they are in TS4. And the only time my clubs are empty is when I go there at a particular time of day or a particular club. TS4 is the same. I built one little bar no Sims visit anymore in TS4 and down to 77 Sims due to culling and counting the dead etc. So, it's not like TS4 is all that full in my game. And actually TS3 is fuller for me in some worlds.

I will have to count on many of the talented simmers to make me some old farmhouses. I am not good with that style.
@fullspiral That's a good contest idea too! Maybe I could bribe some talent into crafting me some amazing farm houses with a few prizes. LOL Time to start looking for farmhouses. I have a month and a half to prepare.
That's a great idea! @Ceres_Meiriona Start a thread with the pic and ask for builds that would fit with the scenery. I am going to have to look for my dream farm home too. My little house on the Prairie.
I'm quite curious about that monster that's in the loch. I would like to know more about that, like how often will it appear and if it will come near shore.

There are some great English farm lots on the gallery. They are just perfect for this world. I have some of them in my game and replaced the big park with one of them. If I can think of the creator I will link it. It would be perfect for this world. They've been on there since last year.

I hope you get to see the real pictures soon. I love Victorian houses and that type of scenery. I just can't break out of it since TS2. I rarely build and or play modern houses. They are nice and pretty but I usually tear everyone of them down in Willow Creek. lol
You and me both! I know a lot of peeps love the modern themes, and more power to them, but I mourn the loss of the rolling countryside and that "old world" experience.
I will have to count on many of the talented simmers to make me some old farmhouses. I am not good with that style.
There are some great English farm lots on the gallery. They are just perfect for this world. I have some of them in my game and replaced the big park with one of them. If I can think of the creator I will link it. It would be perfect for this world. They've been on there since last year.
Actually Windeburg would be more of a Scottish town because of the monster in the loch.
Then you better tell Maxis, lol, they said they were influenced by Germany, recently.
Don't know what to tell them except that there are no monsters of that type that's ever been reported being spotted in any lake in Germany. But there has been of one of that type that has been reported of being spotted in a lake in Scotland though.
LOL. I have a friend that just screams the renders and houses don't even look like the Europe they live in and is totally wrong, so I guess it's a Sim thing.
I don't know where your friend lives in Europe, but I can assure you that there are places that still have Tudor style buildings in Europe today. In fact I am European, by blood and birth. And I'm pretty certain that I still have family over there.
I know there are tudor houses and raves and all that. I watch a lot of the Travel Channel. lol Or Discovery or whatever. I'm just sayin' they make suggestions of what is wrong here and there with some of the scenery. I don't know, it's them saying it, not me. But I liked the picture with the sheep in it. That looked pretty realistic and true to me. The whole scene. I have a friend in Wales and it reminded me of those pictures.

Yes, that would be really nice. We will see pretty soon I guess
On topic, I can't wait for more information on Windenburg! This is a town modeled after my own heart, and I am already dreaming about little tudors with voodoo doll rooms and an herbalist's kitchen. I'm so happy to finally have a town that isn't super modern!

@Cinderellimouse there are some environmental fx ducks and sheep.
