One cheat I can't live without is the "cas.fulleditmode" cheat. I only use it to see how my child sims will look like as adults. Just in case they look bad and I need to make another baby
Im shocked at myself i used to use the money cheat all the time in the sims 1 2 and 3 but in 4 i dont think ive ever used it. Making money is really easy in 4 you just need to paint or use one of the other crafting skills.
I don't usually use money cheats. I find it fun to have my sims work their way up. I will use the freerealestate cheat to get sims into a bigger house they can't afford, but I only use that for sims that I just want in the neighborhood but don't actually plan to play.
I do not play with the motherlode or kaching cheats as I like to have my Sims start with nothing & see what journey I can take them on to increase their wealth.
But I do use the freerealestate cheat, so I can move other townie Sims into homes. I have the box checked in Options to fill empty lots, but townie Sims NEVER move into homes on their own.
I also use the bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement cheat code from time to time to unlock all the buy mode career rewards.
I do use FreeRealEstate for some sims, just because their backstory doesn't have them starting from nothing while other sims I don't cheat at all with. I like to see their legacy progress through the generations on to wealth, rather than have that wealth to start with.
When I was playig Sims 3 my sims got so wealthy (by gen 4) that I wish there was a way to take that wealth away from them (without cheating). . . perhaps with a risky investment or something! Hopefully if lottery or casinos come back, the stakes are much much higher.
I've never used any cheats or mods in any Sims game (and I've played them all, with most of the expansions), with the exception of moveObjects if a Sim gets stuck. I enjoy a challenge, and in Sims 3 especially I found it ridiculously easy to make money without even needing a conventional job.
I have some big families in big houses and they can't always pay the bills at first so I motherlode and consider it a loan. Also freerealestate is essential to add new families at times.
oh i would love an option for big loans! used nraas option in 3 and it would be fun if we could take out a mortgage
you can get as much money as you want at one time without typing "motherlode" over and over.
type in "testingcheats on" then "money 300000" or whatever number you want.
Cheaters never win and winners never cheat!
But I use kaching, rosebud, motherlode, edit in CAS, freerealestate, showhiddenobjects and autopay.bills. Also, I type random phrases into the cheat box hoping it will allow some new unexplored cheat to come up. And I pilfer from the community lots and families in the gallery.
Whew! that feels better.
Those of you who don't use money cheats or freerealestate, do you start off with big households or mostly single or couple sims?
I usually start out with a household of 1-2 Sims. Although I had one Sims 1 household with a single mother and five children (which I envisioned as an orphanage). That was quite a challenge, especially as I didn't let her get a conventional job; her sole income was from canning. But eventually she earned enough to get a second bathroom which made everyone much happier
I've used the money cheats since the beginning of the series. My sims get everything their little hearts desire. No waiting to afford a better bed, or a better stove. I'll use free realestate to get them into a home and then motherlode to furnish it with everything they need. Then I focus on goal achievement, getting to the top of careers, skilling up, etc, just for the fun of it, not to earn money. I have tried once or twice to start household with just the basics and make them earn everything but it just wasn't fun for me. And that's what its all about right? Having fun.
all through the years, I only cheat when populating a neighborhood. Once they're in the house they depend on their own earnings. That was why I loved the apartments from TS3, they gave you the opportunity to live small and work your way up like in real life.
I don't cheat unless I'm trying to make up for something silly (like accidently aging up the wrong person - it's like "I'm sorry you didn't get to be an adult for more that 2 days... here have a new fridge") or building for fun (it's good to have a sim on the lot when you build)
Customers don’t expect you to be perfect. They do expect you to fix things when they go wrong. ~ Donald Porter
I use the cheats for motives, I hate that we can't slide the specific motive we want to cheat now it's all or none because trying to make them eat takes too long to then do all the other stuff in the game. Or sometimes I make them stay up to level up a skill, I rarely use the money cheat but the high bills in 4 make it unavoidable sometimes. I save up to buy nice things but then bills come and you can't afford the nice things and the bills. I liked it before when it seemed that bills were based on utility use.
I don't kaching. I motherlode. That's the only way I can get my Sim to start out in a home I spent a couple of hours designing and decorating.
"That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero." - Stan Lee
It really depends on the game I'm playing. I tend to set up rules for my different families and the stories I'm playing at the time. Some games I'll cheat for everything, some games I won't cheat at all.
I play stories as well, I play the devoted family, the town tramp, now I am seeing how long will it take for family members to stop being related I am on the second generation. I name the first born sons the same and put a number behind it so I can tell how far down the line will cousins stop counting
I only use motherlode when I need to test a build with my Test Dummy. That's not to say I haven't used rosebud or kaching in the past. I'm trying very hard not to use any of them and so far I've done well.
I don't use money cheats unless I'm testing something out or have a set goal in that save. freerealestate is my friend when I need to place down sims that I do not plan to play.
