Looking For New Stories to Read!

«1
Hey guys, I'm super new to the forums, and pretty new to the Sims as I have only played The Sims 3 and not 1 and 2. Anyways, I LOVE reading Sims stories as I love reading in general, and the added drama and depth people's creativity can bring to the Sims inspire me to play the game.

So, I was wondering. Is anyone into making "real" sorta-scripted stories with their Sims legacies? An example of Sims Drama Legacies I loved reading is Kaleekalo's DesperateSims (www.desperatesims.blogspot.com).

I honestly didn't think I'd like any Sims story at all but hers WAS AMAZING. I loved how it was fit into seasons, and an overall storyline was focused in each season. She doesn't post a lot on her series anymore, so I'm hoping if anyone else will be interested in doing this sorta thing for Sims 4?

I have a Mac, so I'll feel kinda left out in The Sims 4 for awhile since we aren't system-compatible yet, so I'll have PLENTY of time to read your stories! Any, honestly, are welcome!

Different Rainis my Difference in the Family Tree. Currently on hiatus until I fix my Sims 3 game. It's plotty, especially once you get to the third generation and you meet Parker (my avatar). It has an adult content warning as well. So keep that in mind.

Oh and if you really want to read a really good legacy that is completely finished, try A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss by StyxLady. Greatest read ever!

@SimMadMeg, thanks for recommending "The Madness of Mr. Goth." I've already been a fan of MrsOogieBoogie's "The Insane Dubois Legacy" for quite some time, so I figured if you like that blog, then the other story you recommended was worth a shot. "The Madness..." is quite unique, and while the subject matter may not appeal to everyone, it's written brilliantly.
Currently blogging about The Island Challenge on Lily Parker's Sims Challenges (WordPress).
    Abandoned Kids Challenge
and Toddler Mania Challenge stories are complete.

I started to read "The Madness of Mr. Goth" and I was like "OMG YESSSS" but I had to go to sleep so I didn't finish. I might go to bed super early tonight just to finish reading it!

@JMarkA Hi, reader! I read several good sims story blogs of the past, one I recall is Tales from Touperdu.

I wrote many stories myself, some are completed, some ongoing. They are all found on my blog Simmerville's Sims. I recommend Seagull Cottage that is currently my main focus. Also check the blog roll for links to others.

Here I am totally turning to complete mush... I'm so glad you love Desperate Sims that much, hon. ♥ What a thing to stumble upon! x///x

I know I still plan on updating (and eventually, finishing) DS in the future when my heart is in it again, but a lot of my storytelling has moved to "shorts" on tumblr to keep myself going but not get too overwhelmed. There's a listing of all of them here, but as you can see on the right column Fall into the Future and Ripples in Paradise are the ones getting the most active updates lately. I AM hoping to get DS and YTM some love soon, though.

As for The Sims 4 specifically though:

    tumblr_mqcm2cvBXT1qk5ux8o1_500.jpg

#1. Ripples in Paradise - Right now this is TS3, but I'm going to be switching it over to TS4 once the game is released. It's a comic format and tends to be very light hearted so in that regard it's nothing like Desperate Sims, but it may interest you as something "fresh" to read, when TS4 comes out. Or now, if you're bored.

    tumblr_naj1ayOTk01qk5ux8o2_500.png

#2. Home for the Holidays - Once I have my bearings in TS4, Home for the Holidays is going to essentially be my "next" Desperate Sims. Although DS has about a season and a half left until completion, it's still close enough to being done that I'm turning my gaze towards who will be my 'Kanes' in TS4, and that's going to be the Holidays. The focus will start on Walter Holiday, who has to cobble together a strange, broken little family after his parents divorce and leave him on his grandfather's doorstep. I'm not sure if this will come together as organically as DS managed to--the expansions always came out at perfect timing to help inspire me to write--but I have high hopes. :) When I start posting that, it'll show up here. :)

Kaleeko is indeed a master of story telling.

I'll be starting up Noir Nights once again in Sims 4 and I cannot wait to get back into the story. It started off with an action generation and each one since has been filled with drama. Some physical, some emotional.

Would love to have you pop over and when I start posting again it will show up here

Once the game comes out I'm planning on checking out which legacy sims/families (ie. from Sims 1, 2 and 3) we have and writing something like Going For Broke, which was basically a series of pictures with commentary (that I sadly never finished, although Brandi and Skip are ready to move into their trailer so maybe I should rush to finish in the next 2 weeks just so it's done). I'm not that good with dialogue but I do tell a reasonable story through commentary and gentle ribbing of my victims characters.

If you don't mind The Sims 2, my Veronaville Asylum tends to get pretty good reviews from people. And it's short :)
    All aboard the hype train!

Here is my Story I will be telling

It blared on every TV and Radio on the Island. A tsunami was heading toward the Island. 2nlv1bt.jpg
"evacuate, evacuate, this is a emergency" the announcer shouted through the air waves.
Dewey looked at Tracy, "Quick! gather what you can carry."
"But where will we go Dewey?" Tracey stammered.
"I don't know, but we have to go somewhere."
The announcer kept shouting his message, along with "Go to the City Hall Evacuation Center, everyone must leave the Island."
Tracy was frighten." It will be ok" Dewey said trying not to show how scared he was. He didn't want to upset Tracey any more then she was.
With everything they could carry, Dewey and Tracy ran to the Evacuation Center in City Hall. The place was crowded, people were pushing and shoving each other. Screaming and crying could be heard throughout the Center. Dewey looked at Tracy as tears filled her eyes, "It's ok, honey." he said pulling her close. "We'll get through this." He had to believe this as their life depended on it.
The National Guards were directing people to a long line, to helicopter them off the Island. Dewey and Tracy fell into line, "Dewey the line is too long, we won't make."
Dewey looked around, on the other side of the Center another line was forming, it was short. Dewey grabbed Tracy's arm, "come on quick."
When they reach the table, a man with a white coat addressed them "Are you here to sign up for the Time Machine, it is the quickest way off the Island. Although we cannot guarantee where it will take you, but it is safe enough, although it has not yet been tested.
Dewey looked at Tracy. "What do you think?"
"yes, yes anything, let's just get off this Island."
After signing the papers they were escorted to the Time Machine. People were entering and disappearing instantly.
Dewey took one look at Tracy, "I love you." he said and kissed her. I love you too and they both vanished in the Time Machine
Welcome to The Dexter's Wild and Wacky Word.

Now you know how I feel running into a thread where someone mentioned me, @JMarkA! A really weird coincidence, because I've tended to shy away from the forums in the past but my friends were excited about the update so I thought I'd jump in the bandwagon. I'm really super duper flattered <333

I really so hope you enjoy Home for the Holidays. The format is going to be a bit different because it'll focus mostly on dialogue rather than narration, because sadly part if DS is suffering is because how time consuming each episode is to put together, but it's going to have the same focus in relationships and drama and intrigue and plot building. The spirit of that level of story will continue, even if it won't include my dusky monologues of what's going in inside someone's head. (Well, it still might, occasionally. We will see ;) )

I cannot image how stressful and time consuming a DS post is. I start stressing over Sam posts when they are a mere 1/3 the length of a DS post.

Not to mention how much time you've spent building sets for things like the hospital and posing the Sims for the specific shots.

Too much like work for me! All hail @kaleeko, creator extraordinaire.

Oh @nicarra60! x///x I wouldn't quite say that! But the dedication pays off. It's kinda a good thing that TS4 will be lacking any kind of 'machinima tools' right off the hop though, like animator and moveobjects on cheats, because then I won't feel bothered for everything to be 100% perfect. ;)

Everything on this blog sounds it has a lot of potential to be fantastic, though!! That plot sounds really intense, @evalen--I'll be interested to see how it plays out!

I have just started a legacy if you would like to read :) (www.wishuponastardisneylegacy.wordpress.com) It's a legacy that follows the Disney Princesses! (I am a Disney fanatic)
Also, if you like fantasy and sci-fi I recommend The Hartfields. It's a legacy, but based on a storyline instead of gameplay, and it's super well written! (www.notjustabooksims.wordpress.com)
