Hey guys.
I find myself getting frustrated with builds lately. I can't seem to find a house/building that's well decorated, uses NO CC, or uses cheats to combine items to make something look "pretty" but unusable. It would be nice to find play tested homes so we know that the sims can get to everything in the home. I don't know why, but it seems like combining items together to make a furniture piece is popular. For an example, when builders combine tables to bathroom sinks to make them look "better". My personal opinion is that I don't care for those things. Or when builders combine 3-4 tables together to make a bigger table. I just want simple builds that look really nice that are ready to play in without furniture combining. Can anyone recommend a builder to check out?
Thanks!

I agree with you that functionality should be the priority over aesthetics!! As a builder, I agree with Taoron that the MoveObjects cheat is pretty much unavoidable but my priority is always for the play-ability part of the game because I love playing as well. Love a good rags to riches challenge!! :) I play test my builds as much as I can. I love creating great atmospheres because that's what I love playing in and hope others will too. My origin ID is duncanJK3 if you're interested. Sorry if there is a floating object or two!! I'll keep my eye out for other builders as well!!

But this thread is a great place to compile users who create play-tested builds so I will definitely check some of you guys out! Feel free to swing by at my place too (EA ID: andhanwib) but again, still a learner here
I'm SpoonieSarah on the gallery. I can't promise elaborate, modern pieces of art but I have some great family style homes and community lots.
My own builds are really the only rec I have since I've given up on trying to find others that would suit my needs .

There are lots of builders I have run into that use the hashtag #playtested - which means they have tested their games for functionality. Maybe something to try? Wish you good luck house hunting.
I've downloaded several great lots but I ran into one very pretty house where I had this issue with builds that clearly weren't playtested. The stove wasn't working and I had to delete a bunch of decor to make it work. There was no functional counter space in the kitchen when I started playing so you couldn't cook at all. The fridge would sometimes have issues with working. The hallways were also way too narrow (meaning only one square in width upstairs. I have it on the recommended lot size and I don't have room to stretch it out there without taking out all of the front yard/garden. It is a beautiful house so I've kept it for now but the family may outgrow it simply due to the way that it was built.
When I've looked recently, I've been unsure about lots I can use other than the ones highlighted by Maxis since those are playtested. Those are great but sometimes you are wanting something different. I'll also say that I don't mind decor but I don't want so much decor that functionality is broken. Anyway, I think it's great to have a thread highlighting these types of builders since that's what I look for as well.
I've added several gorgeous lots - a colonial library, a beautiful floral cafe, an ice-skating rink with a bar that looks like it is from some northern rustic area, a toddler park that I edited to suit my taste, several other specialist builds and several Victorian houses. I've not yet figured out how to build a Victorian and I'd rather download someone's careful handiwork. These all settled in nicely in my game and I appreciate the talent of the people who took the time to build them as well as other lots that might not have been a fit for my game.
I really like that one pretty house I described but if I continue to have issues when I play it again, it may ultimately need to be deleted and replaced. It's an example of the problematic lots that you've described and it made me nervous to download more without knowing if a lot will be functional.
I also do have some builds (cherpar) - apart from the first two they are all play tested (before i knew about playtesting lol). I do use move objects cheat for the same reason builders have set out above, and occasionally put items together, but only if they work. I agree with you, there is nothing more annoying than something beautiful which you cant use to play your game.
there is one cavity i have to say - if you are constantly getting errors in a build, then don't use it - but please don't give up after one and assume its the builder. From time to time EA errors do happen and its not necessarily something the builder did.
hope you find what you are looking for.

I do use a bit of Move Objects, but I’m very careful about it because routing issues drive me nuts, mostly in the landscaping.
You’re welcome to see if anything I’ve made suits your fancy. It’s a mixed bag of modern and Victorian/period stuff. (I go through phases)
Here's an example of what you (or I) can do with a bit (OK, a lot) of time and some creativity: https://tinyurl.com/sztsgcb
I also try to make some designs that only use base game stuff because some people don't want or need to buy a lot of extensions (it makes sense if you only play the game occasionally).
Awesome builds!
