Does anyone have any ideas for the ship wreck lot? I want to change it to some sort of community lot, as it’s awkward to have to load into a residence every time my sim wants to visit that island. I was thinking a science type facility imagined as the conservation headquarters, probably set as a library, or possibly a jungle adventure type temple as a museum. I’m not sure how much gameplay I’d get from either of those though. I’m also not the greatest builder so they might be too difficult for me, lol. What do you all think?

I think that would be a great idea. I myself am trying to decide what kind of a community lots to put into the islands and where and using the shipwreck lot as a science facility or even a library or a museum would be great. A onservation headquarters would also be a great if you have someone in that career. Then they have a place to be at while working on their career objectives.
When I get this EP I know where to come find beautiful builds. Only problem is choosing which ones to download!

I'm still thinking about this, but one idea I have is to convert it into a National Park. I wouldn't change it too much, just add a public loo and a couple of tents so that visitors can sleep over on the island if they want. I'm not sure what I would put in the underground area, though.
Ocean Breeze Spa

Since Sulani has a fancy side/island, I felt it needed a luxury spa for the rich tourists and residents. I tried to strike a balance between tropical and modern, as well as tranquil. And all those things are kind of opposite to each other, but I hope it works.
This spa comes with two massage rooms, a sauna, mud baths, mediation room, indoor pool, sun deck, yoga patio and two hot tubs. Obviously, your Sims can also swim/lounge in the ocean. I also added a few towels on the beach, for those who don’t mind a bit of sand. All activities are indoors, or at least covered, except the sun deck. There is a small outdoor mediation area. In addition to the spa activities there’s a semi-outdoor kitchen and a hotel room in case your Sims want to go on a weekend getaway.
I've bulldozed all the lots in Sulani (and evicted all the residents) so I have a lot of work to do. Downloading that is.
The conservation center/museum/library sounds like a great idea. Maybe also with a cafe. Or food stall on the lot. Hope someone takes it on. I have a similar one in Selvadorada and with a few alterations it might work.
i've spent the past few days working on a marine research lab (started out marine biology lab but expanded a bit) for the 40x30 island on mua pel'am. still not totally happy with it, but doubt i ever will be...
it's currently a residence in my game but will be a museum when it's uploaded (and will be uploaded as 'marine research lab', though in my game it's named nautilus laboratories after the science center in isla paradisio). it's a residence because i have a tester sim living in it while he stocks all the aquariums throughout the place. in my game, it's going to have a club of conservationists hanging out at it, making it their workplace
main entrance view (the landscaping is my least favorite part of it, always something i've been terrible at. and i feel like i need a bit more on the outer walls)
i had originally wanted to do a little fence with those lava boulders but got frustrated with trying to make it look right. the idea will probably migrate over to the national park i'm making on the st taz isle 50x50
side view showing one of the two large aquariums. and the wall decor on this side (i'd wanted to spread that around the whole build but it wound up not looking right)
just inside the main (left) entrance is a little cultural display area. the ground floor is mostly a visitor-friendly area (and to suit many of the requirements for the museum lot) while much of the work goes on up on the second floor. i've included a display case with the unused albino bat from the vampire pack and a few plaques that are meant to talk about it being an extinct species that was once native to the islands
just past the rest of the cultural display in the second pic you can see part of one of the research areas. we'll visit this later, for now, completing the main entry area
just inside and to the right of the other (right) front entrance is a series of display tanks for local marine life. since i know fish in aquariums don't transfer when a lot is loaded, i've put mounted versions of all the fish in each tank above the tank. some only have one type of fish in them (like the butterfly fish display, with a camera pointed at it since they're an endangered species and the center is trying to captive breed them to help repopulate the islands. plus free nature documentaries for the conservationists out there!) while others hold two, three or even four species in them
there's also a bit of a display in front of the tanks, various seashells and even a fishing trap. more shells on display behind those half-walls that i'm considering shortening
between the two entrances are the restrooms, with a few other display items, including a mockup of the local volcano on a volcano-themed table:
opposite that we've got the first of two large-scale aquariums:
this one even has a video recording setup in front of it for the employees to post updates about whatever they've been working on while making sure they've got a nice background for it
it's not the easiest to see, but there are actual fish in this tank (which is, of course, a pool). i've set a fishing sign just below the second floor so the fish can be seen swimming at the surface and jumping (there is an annoying tendency for some to swim way out of the pool borders, though... bah). and even have some hidden, shrunk down mfps fish coffee tables and aquariums full of fish in a few spots
close-up of a rock concealing one of the tables, fish swimming just above it:
from here, we'll go back down the hallway past the cultural area. you can see a cooler for quick snacks just behind the stairs up to the research level proper, as well as a few research stations downstairs on the way to the secondary marine tank
this is the freshwater research station, the aquariums here are full of locally-caught freshwater fish (i even researched every fish species caught to ensure they went to the proper freshwater or marine tanks) and the stations opposite them are to keep records of said fish and other things pulled from the local waterways
the marine tank itself is an octogonal pool within an octogonal room:
the brightness here makes it easier to see the both the fish near the surface (another fishing sign just below the second floor) and those in the hidden, shrunk aquariums). ...and oh, how that coral seen outside teases me. i wish that were in buydebug so i could put it in the tank itself...
outside we've got the pier with chess table for relaxing and a few scattered odds and ends, including a balloon from the last turtle hatching
a few semi-wild plants growing out back, again, i'm not super fond of my landscaping and this is part of why... the important reason to show it off, though, is it's where the easel (museum requirement) is hidden, shrunk down, if anyone decides to dig it up and place it elsewhere
this door here leads back into the main room, the marine display aquariums on the left. and, we can see that the staff manage to enjoy themselves even while working, since someone built a 'sandman' out back
that concludes the downstairs, all-access area. upstairs is supposed to be a bit more restricted, but doesn't always meet those expectations.
first thing seen when going upstairs is another small, open research area and the top level of the large marine tank
i had originally intended the build to just be for marine biology but realized with the conservationists using it as a headquarters, it wouldn't stay so focused. so now these research stations focus on geology and local fossilized life, aquatic or not
the wall opposite the geology station has a few more freshwater aquariums, one full of invasive species found locally, the other full of guppies (i found out that they're a frequently-used and studied species in most marine biology and research labs for various reasons... so, a full tank of the little guys!) as well as the 'sprint into action' mannequin that's meant to inspire the staff but instead just scares them half to death late at night because they forget its there until they turn around...
marine tank entrance:
some of the research stations around the tank, particularly the dissection table
more fish waiting on dissection, as well as a station where somebody has obviously been studying the endangered butterfly fish
no, i have no clue what this contraption is, either. or why it has a piranha in it. i just thought it looked too good to get rid of, so here it is... opposite the entrance to the room
looking down at the tank from above, nice variety of species in here. too bad that seaweed just floats at the top...
back outside, in the hallway, looking behind the stairs to this floor, we've got another flight leading up to the third floor (mostly roof, with some living quarters) and a small area dedicated to both flora and displaying invasive avian species
some of these birds really are invasive species on various pacific islands, others, like the spotted sixam and the puffin, i just couldn't not use
the 'vegetation corner', that could obviously use some work. some of the plants are meant to be local species, others imported and/or invasive:
through the door past the vegetation corner is meant to be the real research area... off-limits to non-employees. it's got stations studying the plant life, the insect life, amphibians and more. studying both the local and invasive species. there are also a few volcanic boulders here waiting for the geology department to get to them, as well as some tanks full of fish not seen outside. mostly invasive species (like the celestial grouper in the first picture and the perch in the second), though the final marine tank has a quartet of local fish i just didn't have room for downstairs
there are two doors off this research corridor, the first leads to the top of the second (actually first) large tank, just inside the main room downstairs. the second is an actual lab area
this is intended to be a research/diving platform but is unusable because i had to shrink it down (when full-sized it works fine if not put over the water. but just takes up too much room). i'm considering putting some equipment of some kind on it, as well as what to add to the all too bare walls
near the door to the room:
the listening station is intended to be for studying sonar. i had originally had it in the place of the weird contraption in the marine lab area but moved it into here. the scuba outfit reminded me of the one in subnautica, so i had to put it on a mannequin on display in here. also some giant presumably underwater tools on both scuba shelves, as well as the hard to get dive tank decor item
the lab area itself is pretty tiny, just has one microscope, one chemistry lab and two chemical analyzers (though one is the one from strangerville and, thus, unusable here)
i'd have loved to add more, but was running out of space and the microscopes are so gigantic... (i had wanted both to keep the build to only two stories (which didn't quite happen) and have a mostly open floorplan, so ran out of space fast)
and...speaking of the floors, this wraps up floor two. time to head upstairs and see the living quarters... most of the third floor is open roof, but is perfect for relaxing and taking in the view of the local volcano. i also put a weather machine up here, just in case
the stairs themselves drop you off right next to the doors to the living quarters
the quarters are a bit cramped, intended more for shorter visits, possibly a week or two before rotating out to work elsewhere. just a place to sleep and eat, mostly. the place doesn't even offer a stove, since there's only quick meals in the work fridge. (normally i try to avoid that money-making trash can but it just seemed perfect for this build)
i promise there's a toilet behind that half-wall, the camera just didn't want to cooperate with a good first-person shot of the bathroom catching everything
and then the sleeping quarters... more or less barracks, not even worth calling a bedroom. has four beds and a wardrobe, just in case. and some electronics and storage for the kitchen and elsewhere, too (lets just pretend that gas mask is a scuba mask or rebreather...)
and, that wraps up the tour of my lab that i feel is still only 3/4 complete... sorry for what i know was a gargantuan and super image-heavy post
If anyone is taking requests, I would love some help with Chieftain's Villa. I really love the premade build, but need more room, as I decided I want a larger family there. I added a sister for Keala Hoapili*; she has a husband, daughter (already moved to her own household), and a son and daughter-in-law with kids. So... they definitely need more than two bedrooms and a single bath. I added an upstairs that conforms to the lines of the existing house, but... I find the roof tools for TS4 very challenging, and my roof looks pretty bad. So if anyone wants to play with that, or has seen a revamp on the gallery (I haven't been able to find one yet), please let me know!
(*I've been doing this with all of the premades this time; instead of deleting them, I just add extended family-- cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.-- that I do intend to actively play, and then move out the premades into their own non-housed household. This way I get to play the households I've envisioned, but I like that they have these extended families still wandering around the islands.)
Edited to add: I actually like the premade lots for the most part, but the problem I'm having with both the premades and the ones I'm finding on the gallery is that there's a big gap in what I need. Almost everything is *either* a tiny home suitable for 1-2 sims, OR an enormous and very fancy home. What I'm looking for is homes that are still very rustic/simple, but suitable for at least a small family.
@kalaksed honestly that's pretty darn impressive nice work!! I don't think I'd have the patient to build something that large and that detailed.
FYI, for those that may be interested, Lilsimsie's got a new save you can download via her Tumblr that has some pretty nice lots in it! Restaurants, a remade café (took that one out of it), a beautiful Spa Resort, etc.
Not done yet, but I am working on this fancy resort with modern, but cultural huts on stilts. It is for couples who want a little privacy and have their own area to swim and lounge in floats near their hut.
I have two sims that will go on a honeymoon so, so this is perfect for them. It also has a yoga class on stilts on the water. LOVE that!
Behind I am building a hotel with luxery rooms with a seaview. This lot is for fancy and wealthy sims who do not care about the Sulani culture and just wanna lay in the sun and sip on drinks.
I am also building a pool over the water, so it has that pool-beach edge effect
I built a huge house above water. I love big houses cause I usually play with big families, this house has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. I just showed the parents bedroom cause the other ones are empty, nobody is living there for the moment.
Thank you everyone for your pictures. They have given me so many ideas for building. I was thinking, myself of building a Spa @MDianaSanders but yours is so nice I'm downloading it instead and I love the StrangerVille door in your house @PapayaPancake it's ideal for a water hideaway from "Mother."
I've been mostly playing an off-the-grid family, started from scratch, so their lot is far from ready since I update it as they earn more money. Here's a WiP picture:
The corner shack is bathroom, the shacks next to it separate bedroom areas for parents and children, and the extra shack is sheltered garden.
Living off-the-grid and having children (and having jobs) means there had to be a good community center, so I built this in the small 20x20 lot:
Stove and fridge needed for baking birthday cakes, among other things.
Some kava and arts:
Room for school projects, and also fishie mural.
Nap section for toddlers:
The lot is officially a Library, which is mostly upstairs:
I originally tried to make the building an Arts Center, but since one of its main purposes was to be after-school activities and family gathering spot, the bar that is required to be in the Arts Center was just off. You can fulfill the requirement with the coffee bar, buuut no barista spawns for it, just a very confused mixologist standing around. So Library it is!
I've uploaded it with the name Sulani Community Center, and my name in the gallery is Lumiasta, just like here.
Woah, that looks great! Everyone! I adore the big family homes but can't play them above three Sims, it gets too stressful for me.
Here's my current lot. Fine tuning and playtesting left and then I'll take better pics and share on the gallery.
Edit: Instead of sleeping I played some more and it is ready to share. I'll copy my post from the creative corner section.
Welcome on The Nereus, let me show you around!
I love Sulani's beaches and the clear water. I wanted one big build that left nature as pristine as possible.
This build was created for my billionaire Sim. Tony Stark *cough* I couldn't resist ^^. This yacht is over the top and very modern. And environment conscious, he put in a Arc-reactor, no fumes and fuel spills, nope.
If you want to try it out, please note that I did not include collectibles apart from the IL harvestables. I tend to decorate with my collectibles and thus I've chosen wall racks and shelfs with them in mind, they are for now bare.
Edit: *stares* Oops. Typo, there's an additional a in one pic caption. Ah, well...

I think that would be a great idea. I myself am trying to decide what kind of a community lots to put into the islands and where and using the shipwreck lot as a science facility or even a library or a museum would be great. A onservation headquarters would also be a great if you have someone in that career. Then they have a place to be at while working on their career objectives.

there are two doors off this research corridor, the first leads to the top of the second (actually first) large tank, just inside the main room downstairs. the second is an actual lab area
this is intended to be a research/diving platform but is unusable because i had to shrink it down (when full-sized it works fine if not put over the water. but just takes up too much room). i'm considering putting some equipment of some kind on it, as well as what to add to the all too bare walls
near the door to the room:
the listening station is intended to be for studying sonar. i had originally had it in the place of the weird contraption in the marine lab area but moved it into here. the scuba outfit reminded me of the one in subnautica, so i had to put it on a mannequin on display in here. also some giant presumably underwater tools on both scuba shelves, as well as the hard to get dive tank decor item
the lab area itself is pretty tiny, just has one microscope, one chemistry lab and two chemical analyzers (though one is the one from strangerville and, thus, unusable here)
i'd have loved to add more, but was running out of space and the microscopes are so gigantic...

Nothing fancy, just a little shack and a jetty. This is my off grid lot. I have play tested it and all is good
Outside
The interior
The Nereus
This yacht has three decks:
Lower Deck:
Not pictured: Laundry Room, Bathroom & Sauna
Middle Deck:
Middle Deck: Pool, Upper Deck: Relaxation Area
Not pictured: Music Room & Coat Room
Upper Deck:
If you want to try it out, please note that I did not include collectibles apart from the IL harvestables. I tend to decorate with my collectibles and thus I've chosen wall racks and shelfs with them in mind, they are for now bare.
Edit: *stares* Oops. Typo, there's an additional a in one pic caption. Ah, well...
