@Gamerlil Sims 3 and 4 are very different; it's difficult to summarise from your questions because, although very valid, most of the answers are 'No' - however that doesn't really take into account the vast content of Sims 4 which, as I said, is quite different from Sims 3. A lot of players actually play both!

1) this is really up to you. If you search and read some threads regarding this, you'll notice that there are the more diverse opinions on the sims 4. For me personally it is worth while. Go now to Origin, download it (it is FREE untill the 28th May) and take your own conclusions. Of course, the base game will always be lacking, but there are a lot of expansions to be acquired already.
There aren't cars or newspapers. The retail shops come with Get To Work Expansion pack.
2)True true true. With the Get to Work EP you can create all kind of retails. You can sell basically anything: books, furniture, collectibles, food, clothes, harvestables,... and so on...
3) I think there's no picnic basket.
You can get married: plan a beautifull wedding or just marry on the moment. Whatever you desire.
4) I believe no. I wish it would be possible though.
5) Yes, you can take laptops in your inventory and use it in any surface.
6) Oh yes there are. Like i said in point 1, give it a try with the base game. It's free this week. I would take it anyway. Keep in mind though, that the game is much more complete with he EP's, and also the GP's that are great. Taking advantage of the game being free this week, i would try it and if like it, i would buy one EP or 2 GP's (both options are the price of the base game alone).
