I recently made this REALLY nifty outdoor closed-in porch area. People probably already know how to do it, but I was so proud of it I made a video on how I did it.
Great thread, it is bookmarked, but I want to see a tutorial for How to Place a Spiral Staircase in a Basement With No Foundation.
I'm designing a Spa in a basement and I can't get a spiral staircase to place under a lot that was built on no foundation.
The only way to get underground at the moment is to use the Elevator, but that isn't realistic if the Elevator breaks down as there is no other means of escape in a fire.
I just don't want to use the normal long staircase, it takes up a lot of room.
I don't know if you would want to add these or not. They are not tutorials per se, they are more like online classes for building with step-by-step instructions and a lot of pictures.
I am teaching a class in how to build a farm in three lessons.
Hi Smoky. I have a new tutorial entitled "Building Victorian Homes: a Tutorial by Socalkdl" located here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/500281.page
It is not complete yet, but it basically follows the construction of two Victorian homes, well one is an Edwardian, technically post-Victorian, the other is a Second Empire. It is 2 pages so far, covering foundation and basement creation and stopping at the creation of a Mansard roofed attic. I will be adding more to it this week as I finish the houses. Feel free to plug me in somewhere
Thanks,
Kirk
I'm trying to make a sub-basement using the basement tool that has hallways with closed rooms off of the hallways. In two of the rooms I want to use the dive well. I am not looking to have any of the other 'bells and whistles' for making a tomb. There will just be a bunch of decorative stuff laying around on the floor to try give the area some ambiance.
The one problem that I have come across is that I find that I do not know how to make a room with 4 walls and a door. Right now I have a couple of rooms with 3 walls and no door.
Have any suggestions for me?
Edit: I have a suggestion for myself. Stop using the basement tool when creating the front wall of a room. You should change over to the wall tool. The basement tool is used only for creating the outside walls.
bunbunny I have a fair few of your tomb tuts in the section are there more? Would you like to let me know the links to the ones I have not listed? Tomb tuts are not just CAW!
I can't find the more than 5 floors thing... it is cfe though, raising the ground in the middle and building and raising and building. Helpful huh? If anyone can remember it please give us a link.
I am new to the forums and just stumbled upon this while I was looking around. I want to say thank you so much for taking the time to do all this! Also, to those that contributed to this help thread. I appreciate you!
Yay for gambrel roof! I really miss those from the sims 2.

Loved this! Found that you don't need to add a wall to add a door. Works just fine with moveobjects on.

Smoky, can you go to the Create-a-World Forums, and check out auntielynds' CAW tutorials?
I have A LOT of new tomb-building tutorials!
If you're still around, please check into it!
There are ways to add more than 5 floors and I am sure it is under cfe? I'll check.
And yes I am still around, not uploading much to the exchange as it makes me cross when stuff gets lost in the ether.... or you could blame Skyrim.
