This Game Is So Surprising!

Most of the time when I have to deal with the dreaded holiday Gnomes, if my Sim offers the wrong thing, pleading has gotten him nothing but an electric charge running through his body. I failed to look at what the goals were on my Thanksgiving Day holiday, but there are Gnomes, to my chagrin. Kayleigh guessed wrong on the first one, but pleased the second one. I decided to have her plea with the first Gnome. To my fascination and surprise, it worked. This is a first for me!

How many times has your Sim pleaded with a Gnome only to have it fail?

How many times has a Sim of yours pleaded and had it work?

Please share your stories with the Gnomes.

Morgyn gave the wrong offering one time and got zapped. He returned the favor by casting inferniate on the offending gnome
and turned it to ashes. The others dropped all of their seeds on the floor and beat it. I laughed. Freezer Bunny had it coming.

@GalacticGal I dislike the gnomes myself; so I just edit the holiday & uninvite them.

I've had some Sims that used to get zapped all the time. My more recent Sims seem to have better luck and can just please the gnomes on the first try.

If a Sim's already angered the gnomes, though, I typically just give up for the holiday with that particular Sim and try to have a different member of the household try to appease the gnome.

I would do as @Starfree does, except I have oddly fond memories of Sims 3 with the firefighter career, trying to chase those gnomes all around the houses...

That is one tradition I never use. I avoid it like the plague but I may just have to add it to my current save. I'm already doing things differently in it, why not have my alien get zapped by some holiday gnomes while I'm at it. :D

@mightysprite Do you know if that works by percentages or something, where those are 100% but others have a chance of working? Because I'm pretty sure I've given toys to other gnomes and they have succeeded.

@Larrikateven I have no idea. I can tell you that I haven't had any failures from giving the things on the chart. Maybe each gnome has more than one gift that they like?

I usually put the gnomes tradition in a holiday I made up called "Fool's Day" since I think they tend to cause more chaos then I'd like for my Harvestfest holiday. I used to get so anxious about them until I played with them enough times to figure out what appeases each one. That cheat sheet that @mightysprite shared is accurate, but each gnome will accept other gifts too. Plus, that cheat sheet doesn't include all gnomes in the game that can show up - all I know is coffee, pies, and toys are my sim's best friends on Fool's Day.

Erik gave a gnome, once, a piece of pie, which was on said chart. The Gnome was furious. Then he tried to plead with him and got zapped. Twice. The next time I forgot to remove the gnomes from the goals for the holiday. I had him give coffee. It was morning, and the Gnome was delighted. Phew!

One was the dog gnome. Kayleigh gave that one a toy and was successful. I have no idea if there is a percentage. That would make sense, though. Most of the time Erik fails — as charming a guy as he is. LOL but, the coffee worked that one time for him. He's now a little less leery.

I normally remove it from the holiday, which surprises me, because I had renamed Harvest Fest to Thanksgiving. I somehow forgot to remove the Gnomes. :open_mouth: I get what I deserve, I guess. LOL

I don't know why, but I seem to have had pretty good luck giving the Reaper Gnome a Future Cube, which I figure is because Grim knows the future - of that sim, anyway. :s

I seldom have holidays with gnomes but it was fun to read about them. Haven’t figured out the right holiday for them yet.

I haven't played with the gnomes in some time. I didn't like the chaos. I tend to completely wipe and then create my own holidays anyhow. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines. I do vaguely remember being able to beg for forgiveness or some such with an angry gnome and it working.

I normally do, too, or I edit what's there.

I used to have them show up during Harvestfest, but now it's during The Masquerade (Halloween) instead.

After realising how broken they were in terms of those neverending seed packet spirals, I decided to make it a holiday tradition to kick them.

6 ceramic figures full of money and collectibles. Fulfills the tradition. Helps build handiness. Gives upgrade parts. Trash becomes recycling/fertilizer/bug food. My sims seem to have fun doing it. What's not to like?

I’m not hugely bothered by gnomes. I use this blog post: http://sims4-makeithappen.blogspot.com/2018/12/its-gnome-business-like-appeasing.html?m=1 to appease them, then wait until Harvestfest is over to sell the gnomes and the seed packets. The seed packets are worth 100 Simoleons each which can add up to a fairly decent amount of cash if they’ve left loads.

Me too, I gave the business one (with briefcase) a toy and he was happy. And others.

@Lucy_Henley That is true. In fact, sometimes I even like to purposely start in Fall knowing that they'll get a nice ~2k gnome bonus at Harvestfest!

@Behappy1st I wonder if there is more than one item for each gnome?

I just don't do holidays much at all, gnome came up in fall, I do wait till end of day to stop them spawn then just sold gnome then move on, this was nice early game to help with fund, but long term when you getting rich, it's kind of annoying, since I don't do holiday, I just forced on Sim to grow many skill, and aspirations stuff.
