Resolution and Scaling Issues

I have a HP x360 Spectre with a 4K display. Before today everything always looked beautiful, with all the menus, and option setting, and stats perfectly scaled in fullscreen, with the resolution all the way up and with everything on high settings, until today where when I clicked on the Sims 4, it opened in windowed mode, NOT fullscreen as it was before, PLUS when I did set it on fullscreen, EVERYTHING, from the menus, to the chat option, to the stats became absolutely shrunk and were not up to scale as they were before. And no, I never had laptop mode enabled.

How it currently looks

What is up? Why in the first place did the game open in windows mode when it was set to fullscreen? Why did everything shrink and become useless on full settings with everything maxed, when before, everything looked beautifully and perfectly? And no, downgrading to an inferior resolution is a no no.

Hello.
Check to see that your graphics drivers are up to date.
Make sure that the game is using your graphics card

Try turning off origin in-game and see if that helps. To do that, go to Game Library in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture. Click on “Game Properties”. Then untick the box that enables origin in-game

This game has issues in 4k on desktop, Laptop would be worse. I see your laptop comes with a few different specs. Do you know what your video card is? The higher the resolution the better the video card you need for gaming. This game was not designed to run in 4k and you may have to play in windowed mode if you want 4k . Playing in windowed mode takes the stress off your video card.

This wouldn't be the first time I've seen a game's UI scale poorly with increased resolution, and 4k in general has a habit of scaling them down teeny tiny. I's be really curious to look at your computer's settings before all this happened.

Half a minute googling "sims 4 ui scale 4k" found me this post, though.

The higher the resolution, the smaller the Ui will be. If you try to change the UI in the game, you may have issues. Ask @rosemow about that.

I suggest trying to play in windowed mode in 1080p. You might have issues in full screen

If you alter the ui scale, it can cause issues with the photos taken using the GTW cameras. Simmers have been having issues after changing the ui scale.

@rosemow I think the problems with changing the ui scale have been fixed. I changed it in my game a few months ago, and I haven't had any issues with photos that my sims take.

Guys Can i run the game in 960x540 . i tried options.ini didn't run . iwant to run the game with a custom resolution
