Can't Follow Sim to Work! HELP

I pulled my Mods folder and patched. I decided after much deliberation, to go ahead and try MCCC, and Road to Fame, so that my Sim wouldn't lose his progress. However, despite the acting gig still being in his work panel, he's not getting notified, as usual, that work starts in an hour. Neither am I getting an option to Join when the time for said gig rolls around. I pulled the Mods folder, again. Still have the problem. I did a Game Repair (as I've had this problem in the past) and no notification. I can send him to work, but I can't Join him. Acting career is more fun when you get to put your Sim through his paces, as it were. I'm vexed, but did the Game Folder Refresh to establish a brand new folder. Mods are still out of the game. I put my saves and Tray back in to have the game I was playing. Still no notification he has work in an hour, nor a chance to Join. I failed to make a copy of my saves and Tray prior to patching. I was so blown away there was a Patch that I flat out forgot. A heads' up is nice. I copied both the saves and the Tray after the fact. So, if this game ends up borked, I at least have the post-patch copy. I really, really, really don't want to take my Sims forward from Uni. I just did that twice, recently. This Erik Cantrell just won THREE Best Actor Awards in a row. I was hoping to see what happens after this gig.
And while I do appreciate EA trying to improve this game via patches and all, I get so very anxious anymore when they come up. It's rarely turned out well for me.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I don't know what else I can do. Unless, I really wish to go back in time to the saves and Tray I copied before the September 7th patch. Oi!
