Environmental manager career bug?

My sim is an Environmental manager (8), just started working after Uni.
Whenever she goes to work, and I choose the "mingle with conservationists"-option (aka. chat with coworkers) she never gets to know any of them (and I know there are other sims in that career). When I hover over the icon with the two people on my sims picture, after I've chosen "mingle with conservationists" it just says "go to work". When I change it, and choose "normal", it says "work normally" when I hover over it. I have the same issue with the option "teach conservation class", it says "go to work" when I hover over it, BUT, it seems like my sim still gets the cash bonus (I don't know if my sim builds charisma as well because she's level 10).
She just got promoted now, to 9, and it's still the same. I checked the game without mods too.
Is this a known bug? I couldn't find anything on it. Any solution?
