I play rotationally but not to a strict schedule (aside from my BACC save).
I'm working with a variety of different households (most created by me. A couple were NPCs generated as coworkers in the game who've turned out to be quite important and the occasional premade) in a variety of different ways. It's the best way for me to explore everything the game has to offer.

I love the family play but in Sims 4, I'm particularly enjoying having the babies in game and watching them grow up, allowing the parents to shape them as people. I always used to just create families and populate the town that way but I've found I don't do that now. It's been an interesting shift for me but I'm having a lot more fun allowing the families to develop a bit more naturally.

I also enjoy the different 'ways to live' the Sims can explore and I'm having fun with that too. I've got a group of celebrity actors who tend to socialise mostly amongst themselves and the one singer I currently have! :D On the other end of the scale, I have my non-celeb sims exploring the various hobbies available.

In a nutshell, I'm playing the whole town in different ways and it's been the most fun I've had with any Sims game <3

@MissyHissy I totally agree! The best part about TS4 is the possibilities are endless. When I get bored with a particular type of gameplay, I hope onto another style, and on and on in a adventure of exploration :)
For example, I used to focus only on the sims I created in CAS, but now I've developed an interest in developing the stories of townies like Travis Scott in Willow Creek and Yuki Behr in Windenburg. I also used to control every single household I created, going back to make sure they received the traits I wanted, but I now enjoy moving on and watching them grow in their own ways from afar. Now, I'm particularly invested in the life of my Celebrity actress and her daughter (who has recently aged up into a teen). The mother has a club of premade celebrities she has met at parties, like Octavia Moon and Izzy Fabulous, while the daughter is using her gaming skills to channel her fame somewhere else. It's exciting how the game is only as limited as you make it.

I've made & played my many themes for my sims & their unusual homes. Now I decided to start my game like the dawn of time.
I made an Adam & Eve household & I'm still struggling with how to get them to live in a cave.
I don't bother with mods because my game can't handle it, I just use my Sims 4 games.

I love doing this sort of thing! With mine I'm gradually moving out premades who haven't struck up friendships with my active sims. At the moment, the main contenders for sticking around have ended up being Vlad and the Vatore siblings because both Vatores are invested in relationships and/or friendships with my resident vampires.

I used to be the same, checking back to make sure everything's as I want it to be. However there's a lot more fun to be had by letting them do their own thing sometimes. Even the relationship culling has been realistic; a lot of my sims aren't in touch with old University acquaintances any more but some have kept lasting friendships (my game is now about two years after they left Uni). It's been so realistic!

I do love the variety though and each household feels completely different because they're aiming for different things. It's particularly lovely when I feel like playing a certain style; I've always got a household that will suit whatever mood I'm in. I do love the rotational play <3

I play it as if it were life but in a different world. The main Sims in there are based off of the people of my life including those of now and who have passed on. My Sim story has been going on since the release of the TS4, and I'm still using the same save file. I play very slowly because I capture everything. I'm at over 1000 story posts now. I still have so much to do. With all of the current expansions and packs, I have like 70% or more of the content yet to explore.

If I was to play Sims 4; I’d probably treat them the same way as “Gray still plays” YouTube channel.

Find ways to creatively KILL the Sims.
