How to Optimize Storage on my Mac with TS4?

So, a lot of people tell me I'm killing my Mac because I don't have very much storage and I play TS4. My Macbook Air has 250 GB. They could only offer about 100 more for a ton more money. I have an external hard drive, but I haven't used it for much. Anyway, TS4 takes up about 25GB on my Mac, possibly more. There are a ton of files that I don't recognize in my Sims 4 folders. I also want to go through my CC and delete a lot. But what else do I need to do to optimize my storage? I can uninstall some packs, I guess. There are a few I don't ever use, so I can delete them. But what else? I'm just a kid, and I want to have a good experience playing the game, not have everything fried by my poor choices. Is there anything else I can do?
