Can't "Show Off [Baby] To..."

For some reason, every time I try to use this interaction the other Sim, that I want to show the baby to, gives a thought bubble that says he can't move there. The bassinet isn't obstructed and I even tried to place it in the middle of the room but she still couldn't show him the baby. I tried it on a few different Sims too but they can't see the baby either. I'm assuming it's a bug? Can't think of any way around it so hopefully it gets fixed at some point.

Try giving a lot of room /space and see if that helps.

Yes, make sure that the crib is standing freely with lots of room especially in front of it.

It was. I placed it in the middle of the room and the only thing in front of it was the Sim who was trying to show the other Sim the baby. I'll try moving it outside or something haha

Try testing doing it in another home and see if the same issue occurs.

Thanks I will. The room was spacious enough but I guess it needs even more room!

One problem with babies (and some other objects) is that other sims can "block" your active sim if they have an action queued up for it. For example, if a sim two floors down has decided that the really want to "cuddle" at that particular moment, your active sim will be blocked even though they are standing right next to the baby. It's really annoying, but the same thing will happen with easels and other objects. I hope they fix it at some point, but to be honest I'm not sure if it's even possible.


The only real workarounds are:
1 cycle through the household sims to cancel the interaction.
2 Go into to build/buy mode and reset the object by physically moving it
3 lock the door to the room, thereby denying access to other sims. When they can't reach they'll cancel the queued action.

This may or may not be your issue, but it it annoyingly common, and child sims seem to have a particular fetish for the "talk to baby" interaction. They constantly get in the way of feeding and diaper changes.

I think this was already addressed, but also make sure the bassinet is not placed against a wall. The active sim needs room to stand BEHIND the bassinet, and the recipient sim IN FRONT, so it needs to be clear in both directions. It may only need 1/2 space, but I haven't really tested it, so I'd leave a full space just to be sure.

You need at least 1.5-2 tiles distance free at the head end of the bassinet, and the normal tile free at the foot end. You also need access to both.
