Lady Ravendancer Goth's Book o' Spells

I didnt know where else to write this. I have this item 'Lady Ravendancer Goth's Book o' Spells'; but I dont think it works properly. It doesnt matter where I have plaved it. My sims will read it (showing the little green reading bar above them) and then when the bar is full they are magically moved to another point in the room. And thats it. They cant do any spells. No matter what 'spell' they learn.
