Re-Install on New Computer?

I'm looking at getting a new computer and am just wanting to confirm how I would re-install my Sims 4 games on the new device. I'm assuming I would download Origin on the new device and then be able to re-install the packs I've purchased through my account there, but just want to make sure it isn't more complicated than that.

If it is a Mac then Origin. If it is a windows pc it will be the Ea app instead. You can save your ea folder from my documents on your old computer and replace it with the new one created on your new computer once you ran the game once. That way you wont lose all your goodies. I had to do that all when my computer got factory reset and will have to do it all again when I get a new laptop too, busy saving for one. Origin was no where as an option for me, so I had to take the scary step to install the ea app. It was all goods though ;)

@BK747 as mcrudd said, you need the EA app for PC now, as far as I know. I'll add that if it's a Windows PC, be sure to disable OneDrive, since OneDrive and Sims 4 don't work well together. Best thing to do is just uncheck everything to do with cloud storage or OneDrive backup when you set it up. If it's a Mac, I don't think there's anything special to do other than follow what mcrudd said, but I'm not sure since I've never played sims on my MacBook. I'll add that I have installed the sims on my laptop after having it installed on my desktop, and didn't have any problems downloading my packs. Note that I do own some packs and the game itself through Steam though.

I had to switch from my now broken gaming rig to my laptop. I copied my entire Sims 4 game folder (from Documents) onto a flash drive. Then made a copy of it to my laptop. Worked like a champ. I am on a PC. I use the EA App. It's fine to use, just takes a moment (at least for me) to get oriented. Figured out how to repair my game, which I just had to do yesterday, after I finally got patched. Things are a bit tough on the road. For the longest time I kept Origin, to fall back on. Now, I'm Origin-free. All is good. :)

Thanks @mcrudd @MrPlumbob and @GalacticGal for your replies.

It ended up being much easier than anticipated. I'm on Mac and I had a Time Machine backup on my external drive that I used when setting up my new computer. It carried over the Origin app, all games were already listed as installed, and my saves, mods, tray, etc. were carried over. Super easy!

@BR247 I'm so glad to hear things went well for you. I've lost saves before due to my bumbling. As in accidentally deleting when I didn't mean to hit that button . . . I blame the unreasonably compact keyboard on rhis laptop. I'm a touch-typist, but this keyboard makes a mockery of it. LOL I also have an ergonomics keyboard put out by Microsoft that really gives room. There's no room for me to hook it up with the laptop, sadly. As a result, I consistently overshoot the keys lately. Oi At any rate congratulations on the new computer and the continuation of your Saves. :)
