From Popular to Unpopular?

Just sharing my experience.
I am playing a Teen Sim with the friend of the world aspiration. I admit I cheated and gave him the incredibly friendly reward trait. He made many friends in high school and became extremely popular. His social bunny network went wild. Well all of a sudden everyone wants to be his BFF and when he turns them down they get very upset with him. He got asked to prom by a few sims. He had to turn all but one down of course and that caused more negative relationships. After prom many of his friends were just being tense around him. When I looked at their profiles they were holding grudges about not being asked to prom. Now it seems he is on his way to being very unpopular. I'm actually enjoying the unpredictability of these teens now.

I just answer all the asks of being BFF's and invites to proms YES. It's interesting to see what happens. Nothing bad has happened yet, no one's been upset about anything (I'm sure there will be few of those at some point later), but it seems odd that there is no neutral ways to answer those asks, you either say yes or be rude and answer "no way".

I wish there was a neutral option for prom at least. Something like "I already have a date" because I have so many teens that I end up having to say yes over and over to avoid grudges because.... well they all live together. I have 4 communal teen homes so it can be extremely tense if I were to say no and get the creeped out and dejected sentiment between them all

This sounds like one of the instances of the devs trying to make the game feel more alive, but inadvertantly made the sims appear incredibly stupid for having no situational awareness. In real life when you ask the popular kid out, you know that your chances are slim. You wouldn't develop a festering grudge against them, but just move on. No idea how to remedy this, though. We're told that having too relationships can cause lag, so how much more lag would happen if in addition remembering their friends the sims would have to remember who is friends with their friends.

Sounds as if they've done it again. For every two things they add, they break three. :open_mouth:
