@GalacticGal maybe run a BE scan as it has an option “locate outfit cc” that talks about glitched cc. The conflicts scan has picked up an issue for me before that saved me doing the “remove then slowly add back in” testing. I hope this is able to help you. Otherwise maybe ask the question on AnswersHQ??? Sorry I can’t be of more help. Hope you get this sorted as I know how special this savefile story is not only for you but for many other simmers as well.

I forgot to do this once after removing broken mods and still had problems with them
Hopefully this is the reason and not that your saves are corrupted or that piece of cc corrupted others or somehow multiplied itself
Do you think this would work, or should I just see if removing that latest cc will remove that evil icon? I am so close to throwing up my hands and just letting this save go. Please, help.

Do a 50-50 at your hair-files, and delete the bad CC hair. If you do not find the bugger hair, just select another hair for her.
To be certain, I wasn't using that hair, I was looking for a nice do for Harmony's wedding which is how I discovered it. I have done more than a 50-50 on the hair. I removed whole folders (I have organized my mods/cc into individual folders.) I pulled the hair, first. Magically, it was gone. But I went ahead and replaced said folders one at a time, then went into game to take Harmony back into CAS just to be certain, the weird hair icon did not return. Then, since I had an additional Sims 4 game folder marked experimental, I chose that one to place my saves file in, hoping for a fresher start. All was okay, at first, then since I had to repeat the Engagement Dinner, I was dismayed to realize I no longer had the full dropdown menu. Had it before I moved the saves folder, just so you'll know. I too Harmony back into CAS and there it was. The icon that haunts my playing ability.
I have since, to my dismay, learned the culprit wasn't hair at all. When I removed the Royal Dinning Set, gone was the corrupted icon thingy (under hair!)
Yesterday, a thought occurred to me. Rather that start and entire new save, wherein I'd have to reconnect too many relationships (not to mention all of Erik's) I saw I still had the pre-patch back up save on my desktop. I also discovered Travis' Advisor was curiously missing. I had to go back and add him to the household in Windenburg. I cheated up their relationship, but now I think I understand why the Best Man never showed up. I blame Graven for this outrage. LOL
I now have the full saves folder and I'm back to a day before the wedding. Today, will be the test. Should the Rehearsal Dinner come off fairly decently, then I'll continue with this save. Should things go more than wonky, this time. I will likely start them over again. Using the family from a slightly earlier save, even if Kayleigh has to give birth again, one last time. Not how I wish to proceed, but I'm not finished with Erik's story just yet.

I always delete the localthumbcache.package, always. But never the onlinethumbnailcache. I was uncertain what it does, you see. but you can bet on it, I'll start giving it the heave-ho, regularly. Thanks!

I downloaded the BE by twistedMexi. Seems to be working well. It instantly caught a couple of items in my game that weren't up to date. Which surprised me, since I thought I found the updated mods on their Discord. No matter, I removed the 'offending' mods and replaced them with ones from Discord for SimRealist. Strangely enough, I found a few duplicates when I was going through everything in my mods folder. One thing I learned was to not just dump a duplicate, (which is what I did) but to dump the same mod and start fresh.
Know what I love? How I spent an hour building a new house for my Opposites attract couple in an attempt to start focusing on building more in this game, just to see that game just deleted it from my gallery. I know I saved it to the gallery and the game just decided to poof it out of existence. Yes, the build I spent an hour on just disappearing definitely is going to encourage me to want to continue building in this game. Yeah it's not demotivating at all or anything.

If it helps, sometimes when I save stuff to my gallery, it takes several hours to a day for it to actually appear.
You could always check tomorrow and see if it is there after all?

Hi, I'm sticking my nose in, because I've had several trials just in playing this game, too. 1) Do you use mods? 2) When was the last time you updated said mods? 3) When was the last time you did a game-repair? 4) Do you ever delete the localthumbcache.package? This is necessary. Give these things a try and see if your game behaves. Best of luck.
I use mods, yes. They stay updated with the game. I haven't done a game repair in a while. And no I've never deleted that .package. I'll try all of those and see. My game has been working fine just the house disappearing. I'll do the game repair and delete that .package file.

Now for a gameplay update. I decided I didn't like my opposites attract couple. The gameplay with them was getting a little annoying. House disappearing nonwithstanding. So i decided to revamp them a bit.
I changed Keyvon's Cheerful trait to the gloomy trait. So he's now Geeky, Gloomy and Socially Awkward. with the Computer Whiz aspiration which will be switched to Super Parent once the aspiration is complete. So he's good.
Alexis on the other hand was getting annoying to play.
Her traits before were: Outgoing, High Maintenence and Music Lover. Her aspiration was Friend of the World but I had changed it to Inner Peace. While High Maintenence trait is a fun challenge especially with the Inner Peace and something I will definitely try in the future. I feel for myself, that challenge will be a lot more fun if it's just a single Sim I'm focusing on for that challenge instead of a whole family of Sims.
So for Alexis I changed her traits to Outgoing, Foodie, and Cheerful with the Master Chef aspiration.
I build them a house using a floorplan I found online because I want to try to build more and so while their house is still pretty barren, I am having more fun with these Sims now. I also gave them each 2 extra everyday outfits just because I can. XD
I had Alexis have the Lactose Intolerant trait but I decided that Cheerful and Gloomy were perfect for the Opposite Attract couple.
And now if feels like poor gloomy awkward Keyvon got the short end of the stick. XD
I'm going to turn SP and aging off when Alexis goes to college. I have a mod that shortens the Uni time but I feel like it's killing the experiance of the pack for me. I want Alexis to join some clubs and do uni stuff. The aging off will keep her and all the townies from aging while I have her at uni. And turning off SP will keep Keyvon and the townies from doing things while I'm not there. Alexis is going to live on campus so I want the main town to be 'frozen' you would say do I can focus on Alexis at university. Keyvon isn't coming with her because his career path (e-gamer) doesn't require a degree.
I am sharing this because I never realized or thought of turning off aging and SP while my Sims attend college. And here I was strugging and using shorter uni mods when all I had to do was turn aging off. I personally don't mind how long uni takes because all good things take time but I was not a fan of the fact that they age while attending uni and it taking up a huge chunk of their YA life stage. I remember Sim 2 and or Sim 3 forgot which maybe it was both, aging was automatically turned off during uni. No idea why it was removed in Sims 4 but at least we still get the option.
I also posted their children Eli and Arisa in the Born in Game Sims thread. Unfortunately Eli and Arisa do not exist anymore because that save was restarted but hopefully the children they have this time will be here to stay.
After ten years of playing I finally created a new game. Thanks to my two advisors who held my hand and assured me that I wouldn't lose my one and only existing save.
I just wanted to start a new game in order to grab some of the original lots and townies but I had quite a bit of fun with the Create A Sim Story feature.

@Fairy_Happy Turning off aging while in university is a nice solution to how much of the YA stage it takes up!
If I remember correctly, university students in TS2 had their own life stage (Young Adult) -- if you didn't go to university, you just aged up from teen to adult directly. (And of course in TS2, if you don't play a household, they don't age at all, so unplayed townies never aged, not while played sims were at university and not at any other time.)
I never played TS3 so can't comment on that!
