So it turned out to be the eyelashes I had downloaded. Mega annoying because they were so so amazing. They're the kijiko 3D curly lashes. Everything else from that site is fine though, so thats a massive massive shame. I've posted a comment on her post about them saying the issue I had, hopefully she'll be able to fix them…

I had this problem and was just ignoring it until the swimming pools came along and instead of the interaction names, now known to be 'swim here' and 'swim lengths', there were the weird codes. I saved a copy of my sims 4 folder on my desktop, uninstalled on origin, reinstalled (which is seemed to do through origin too)…

Sorry I took so long to reply, The reason I needed to edit the lot was because it was on a slope and my sim couldn't get to it and then all hell broke loose.
