  • All of my old games are still registered, so no, I did not have to register my new base game. I downloaded half of my store content into my new game last night with no problems. So I don't know what would happen if you registered a base game now, if it would make you go through Origin or not. But Origin is compeletly gone…
  • @plushtrap_107 I installed my new (old) base game tonight and I have Windows 10. No hiccups. I went in game a little bit but did not play extensively. But everything seemed okay.
  • @plushtrap_107 If you have the extra money to spend, I would definitely invest in the discs so you don't have to deal with Origin/EA and their Big Brother practices ever again. You can find them for pretty cheap on ebay. :)
  • Not gonna lie, I'm excited for the plumbob USB as well :D And that's a good idea for how to use it!
  • I have patch 1.69 right now as well. But if you uninstall and reinstall with all discs and a pre-2012 base game, you can patch up to 1.67 and stay there.
  • A brand new collectors edition is what I ended up buying. I paid around $40 USD for it also. It seemed like a fair price to me. If I could have found just the basic 2009 base game new, I would have got that instead, but all I could find on eBay for that version were used ones.
  • This, exactly this, is what frightens me, and another reason why I am re-purchasing the entire game as discs. @plushtrap_107 It does not matter if the discs you purchase are new or used as long as you don't patch to 1.69. Patch 1.67 does not require you to use origin or be online, therefore EA has no clue if the codes have…
  • Update on my situation: EA/Origin gave me back all of my EPs/SPs that were originally bought as discs/digitally through Origin. So I have half of my collection back now. But once again, I'm waiting for those physical discs to arrive and then I'm uninstalling the whole lot of it and starting over.
  • @MadIris Yes, as @phoebebebe13 said, as long as you have (or buy) a disc base game pre-2012, you can completely bypass Origin and its DRM/Big Brother tendencies. Then, only patch up to 1.67. Patch 1.69 is what locks your game into Origin and forces you to use it, aka EA keeping track of your game. The only catch is, all of…
  • That's the thing, we are all innocent (well at least, I am). At the time, I did not think anything of buying the codes off of eBay. I certainly wasn't trying to violate TOS or scam EA! I find the email they sent a little insulting. I have invested thousands of dollars in the sims franchise alone, and they threaten to close…
  • That's what I was just thinking. They took all my sims 3 EPs away because some were bought on eBay. At least I have the base game still to tide me over until my physical copies get here the end of this week.
  • As I mentioned in my post above, all of my EPs and SPs are gone. I bought base through Showtime as hard copy discs. Seasons was directly through Origin. And the last were codes through eBay. So no, I do not think there is a pattern to it. ETA I just checked my email and I found the same message that @Linamints received.…
  • I just bought all my hard copies off of eBay. But like @Simasaurus09 said, if you go that route, you have to be very careful when purchasing because a lot of people on there sell just the codes for origin, and it can be hard to tell which is which. Almost all of the ones I bought have pictures of the actual cases and discs…
  • Does their job performance go up when they do this?!
  • This is what I just did. Both Seasons and UL disappeared for me. I contacted EA but this has been the last straw for me. After (if) this gets resolved, who's to say something similar won't happen again in the future? I'm not chancing it. I've put way too much money into this game to go through these problems. So I just…
  • 1.69 introduces a new 'feature' to the launcher where you can check and uncheck which expansions you want to play at a time. Fine in theory. My problem with 1.69 is that after the last Origin update a few days ago, the launcher is now saying I do not have University Life installed, when I actually do. So since the launcher…
  • Yeah I already have everything bought and installed through Origin and registered here on my Sims 3 account/My Page. Plus all of my store content is already downloaded and backed up onto an external hard drive, so I think it would be a non-issue. But just in case, I'm going to get a brand new factory sealed base game. The…
  • Haha, yes, that's the one. I just wasn't sure if the Collector's Edition was still being manufactured after 2012, but I'm pretty sure they discontinued it before then. I am looking into buying all the discs because 1.69 has literally ruined my game and I don't want to rely on/wait for EA to fix it. I'm looking on ebay. Do…
  • @igazor The Sims 3 Collector's Edition is pre-2012, correct?
  • Welcome back to the best version The Sims 3!

  • Same exact issue happened to me today. Origin was showing that I didn't own Seasons even though I do and it was still installed on my computer. Tried redeeming my product key but said it had already been used. So I decided to just buy it again, and then it showed up. But, right after I re-purchased Seasons, University Life…
  • This same thing has happened to me, except only University Life is not showing up for me. It started happening after I updated Origin last night. I uninstalled and reinstalled Origin, and uninstalled and reinstalled University Life. No luck. Contacted EA and they have escalated my issue to a 'special team'. I considered…
  • Someday I will have an awesome gaming desktop that I built myself, but right now a laptop is just more convenient for me.
  • I have an Asus ROG (republic of gamers) laptop. It is Intel quad core i7, nvidia GeForce gtx 960m with 8gb dedicated graphics, 16gb ram, 1TB hard drive, 120gb ssd and 2.6ghz processor speed. I have all EPS and SPs for TS3, along with the entire store. I have the game on high/ultra settings for everything. The game…
  • OMG I posted in this thread way back when, haha!! You can also find special gnomes in the catacombs too. ;)
  • I also reinstalled my Sims 3 recently, and Adventureland was there when I ran the game for the first time after reinstalling. It has since disappeared on its own? *shrugs* I can't figure it out. I didn't touch the town when I first saw it because it came off a bit strange to me and felt that if I did run it, it would…
  • Ooooh, interesting topic. My worst simming habits have already been posted by others, but I'll say them again. XD -Constantly starting legacies and never finishing them. My dream would be to have a family go for 20 generations or more, but I get ADD and always want to start something new when I'm in the middle of something…
  • I just finished up purchasing the entirety of the Sims 3 store tonight *pats self on back* and it literally cost me over $1000 to do so. That includes daily deals, complete your sets, and make me an offer. It's not cheap, and I'm not ashamed to say I have spent that much on this game. It will give me entertainment for many…
  • As many others have said, there is nothing wrong with going back and forth. I do all the time. I played TS4 almost exclusively from November until last week. Did not give TS3 or any of the other versions much thought. But having a simblr and being part of a sims community on facebook leads to me seeing others playing TS3,…
  • That's hilarious! Hope the potty business continues to flourish. :D
