  • No spoilers, but I finally finished the Strangerville mystery!
  • I've been running my Sims story blog off and on since 2009. :D https://thesplinesfamily.com/
  • Did you ever find a solution? Because suddenly I am having the same problem! I have a Sim who's married, and can suddenly no longer woohoo with her husband. Nor with any of the fellows I had her cheat on him with, either in Barnacle Bay or on a solo vacation in France. The option never comes up if I click on the bed. And…
  • This just happened to me. I have NO mods or custom content installed. My PC is at or beyond all specs required to play the game. The game is fully patched to the latest version. My clock stopped at 8:59AM. Perhaps coincidentally, I had scheduled a birthday party to start at 10AM - meaning that the first guest would be…
  • I had the same problem, but I noticed that it only affected Riverview and not Sunset Valley. I restored the Riverview neighborhood from backup following the instructions in this thread, and it worked!
  • Fixed this, KINDA. I noticed that the problem only affected my Riverside family, and not my Sunset Valley family. I found this forum thread which explained how to restore just one neighborhood from backup. And everything is good now! Luckily I am a fanatic about making backups. I did not want to restore my entire Sims 3…
  • Interesting tidbit! Not long before my lag/pausing problem started, I did have one of my Sims change her outfit using a dresser. I wonder if that's related? Hard to say, because the next thing I did was install the latest patch. Seems more likely that the last patch caused this problem - don't they always?!
  • "Online interaction not rated by ESRB" also includes these official Sims 3 forums right here. They're just saying that they can't apply a rating (like "T for Teen" or "M for Mature") to the Wild West of the internet. No telling what happens out there! It's not an error - just a bit of legalese.
  • I should have added, the only non-EA content I have is the Dr. Pepper promo items.
  • I'm having the pausing problem, too. At each :07 or :09 by the Sims' clock (9:07, 9:17, 9:29, 9:37...) gameplay pauses for a moment. This is true regardless which speed you're playing at. Audio keeps going, and any animation "sprites" keep moving (the plumbob keeps twirling, etc) but everything else stops for a count of 2…
  • I definitely believe there's a mood component, at least for the transition from toddler to child. I never manage to get around to potty training my toddlers, but I always teach them to walk and talk. And I have the xylophone and the blocks toy, so that they learn skills. About half the time I get to choose their traits,…
  • I really hope they're going to be returned in a future expansion pack, I miss aliens a lot! I also miss being able to get boys pregnant, so that my gay legacy couples didn't have to adopt.
  • What I haven't figured out is whether there's a benefit to buying food at the store, versus buying it on the fly as you cook. Except when there's a 20% off sale at the store, obviously! But for example, since you can click on the fridge and choose "Hamburger ($35)," why would you bother to go to the store to buy ground…
  • I LOLd when I clicked to see your picture. I've seen that error a lot... not here, but at work. It's not you; it's them. You can try logging out, closing your browser, and logging back in again, it might help.
  • Hey, good point! I hadn't thought of that! Now I am annoyed that the clothes are all gender-specific. I get irritated with the hair choices. I can understand why clothing would be gender-specific, because you have to map the "topography" correctly. But hair? It just goes on a head!
  • I haven't seen Grim eat a sandwich, but it wouldn't surprise me! Half the time when Death shows up to take one of my Sims, he ends up puttering around a bit after. Playing with the game goggles. Putting away the dishes. Making the bed. Picking a fight!
  • I haven't booted it up since I bought TS3, but I'm keeping it installed for now. I'd like to go back and have a final farewell to all my little Sims. The day I bought TS3 I rushed home and installed it, thinking I would go back and wrap up all the loose threads in TS2, but I never did! So it still feels a little unfinished…
  • Having searched for gems both with and without the Collection Helper - I don't even think it's worth attempting without it. It's a pain to earn 50,000 happiness points in order to buy it, but once you do, it can be passed to other Sims and down through the generations. Definitely worth it! I wish the Collection Helper…
  • I vote for funeral. There will always be school days, but this is literally a once-in-a-lifetime thing. You can't go to a make-up funeral, you know? The older I get (37 and counting...) the more I realize how important these rituals are, not just for ourselves but for everyone around us. Everyone at the funeral will…
  • Weddings are the one time I miss the old cut scenes! And it's just not the same without the wedding arch, although I appreciate that Sims can basically get married for free now. Marriage is a lot harder to get to in Sims 3, but you'll get the hang of it!
  • Can you go to Edit Town, evict them all, and just leave them in the family bin?
  • I LOVE this idea! And I think those of us who have never used wheelchairs would find it a real eye-opener. I'm thinking about one of the houses I recently built - lots of tight turns, small bathrooms, stairs up and down various levels, etc.
