The only time I've even remotely heard of a use of mayonnaise as a perjorative is when someone obese is referred to as either having bloodtype = mayonnaise, or making mayonnaise noises. It's ridiculous. It's also a well documented phenomenon in this connected society we live in. This is a link to the Wikipedia article on…
I'll often leave plants at neighbour's properties. Stuff like a line of onions or roses just sitting ready to plant. A sim with the Always Welcome and extra friendly traits can start planting and quite often the property owner will come along and help out. It's actually rather sweet to see. As far as leaving harvestables,…
That's completely loopy as far as a disallowed word. I can understand some but that seems straight out of left field, as the Americans would say. I don't know if you know, but mayonnaise is one of the French cusine mother sauces so it's unlikely to be considered a slur in French, as someone suggested above.
I periodically throw mine into a separate Sims SShots folder. I convert them to JPGs to save a bit of space too. I don't really take many screenshots to be honest.
I just wanted to add a note to my observation regarding Rene player hair the other day. Hopefully someone on the dev team has seen the character creator for the game "Lost Ark". It solves the hair colour / weight combination in a really elegant way. A quick search on youtube can bring up a number of videos which…
The way the packs are structured is really good, imho. I don't really have much of an interest in say, Strangerville, and the game runs fine without it. I just miss out on a few build items and a neighbourhood, no big deal. No one pack is mandatory (although you could argue that Seasons should be in the base game because…
I just hope that the Sims 5 or whatever Rene ends up being called doesn't rely on a subscription model. Free game but locked down so hard that if you want to go to another lot you have to have a valid subscription or that sort of nonsense. I'm probably being overly cynical though. Happens when you get older : ) I…
The reference in the part of the video showing the hair was a bit concerning. Multi-coloured hair with physics qualities like weight and flow have been available in other games for quite a while. The artist said "we're trying to figure out how to model a wide variety of styles across the broad range of humanity, and unlock…
I have set the EA app to only run when I want (not on Windows start), and set the EA Background service to Manual start. I haven't had it lose my library as yet. Perhaps if you tried that switch that'll make a difference?
I was always a little bit leery of Origin, so I'd actually installed the Sims 4 on it's own separate drive partition ( the O drive, of course). I could keep all the installers and mods in one place, and it made it really easy for keeping things up to date. I also use the partition for DA Inquisition and Mass Effect. The…
I would probably use cas.fulleditmode and then the Free real estate cheats the most (in that order). If I'm really in a building mood, then bb.moveobjects is such a handy thing. Funnily enough, I rarely, if ever use the bb.showhiddenobjects cheat. I guess I should look at it for a bit more variety of rocks and plants and…
I'll be honest, I'm not a horsey person. All power to those who've been hanging out for some equine chums since day 1 though. However, if this pack shows some kind of horse care / breeder / jockey career, along with the actual horses themselves, then that's a good thing. Good because it might serve as proof of concept for…
I like the chess set or shower for Focused. Then I get the sim to eat both an excellent and a perfect fruits, to cheese a couple of extra points. It makes the difference between writing a novel in one sitting versus two.
If I have specific plans for a particular Sim and that doesn't entail a rug-rat right away, then MCCC is really handy. I'll often let Sims I'm not actively playing and Townies to have a baby. I think it's good, and it adds a bit of variety. As long as the townie sims don't leave the baby on a bench or something and play…
I play a few families, so no really high numbers to report. Lots of ones and twos, but I was lucky enough to get twin sons to go with an older sister on one family. I named them after polish foods (Fitka and Kielbasa).
I'd recently stopped for about 6 months due to it being busy at work over summer and autumn. Now that it's winter here I can muck around in the Sims 4 some more. I have also just upgraded to a beast of a computer so the Sims runs really well. I generally bounce from family to family, and tinker with the individual Sims in…
I haven't experienced the toddler stage yet. They sound like a handful. I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks, getting a non-trivial hardware upgrade that'll make the Sims run like greased lightning.
I'm quietly confident that non-orthagonal walls* will be in. I don't know about true curved walls, but I mean Quake 3 had bezier based curved surfaces back in 1999, and we've come a long way in tech since then. I think long hair and cloth animations should be possible too. Now picture this - a living room with curtains…
CAS: It would be nice to be able to load mugshot-style images and use them to trace out the facial contours of a sim you are making. I don't mean mugshot as in a picture of a criminal, just front and profile pictures to help you get the proportions of a face right.
As I type this it's just gone 9pm here in Australia AEST. 7 hours (? I think) to go. I don't think I'll wait until 4am, so I'll come back tomorrow and read all the dissections as well as watch a replay.
Build that hype! : ) I kind of like it when they release a little picture a week before, which gets pulled apart pixel-by-pixel as people speculate about it.
