As it turns out , it seems my comment about my sims still aging with aging off was a little premature ...... kind of . The weird thing is that my sims seem to age a day sometime between midnight and 1 am or so , but then their age will snap back a day sometime later that evening in the same day . My Sims are aging ( they aged a day at midnight ) even though all of my age settings are off . To Darci , if you're willing to risk your sims aging a day look at their age and then check it again at midnight while your aging is set to off . I'm not going anywhere near this patch because even the name of it doesn't tally . Pack 7 ( ie 7.whatever ) is Outdoor Living Stuff whereas TS3SP02 is Fast Lane Stuff . So what the hell is going on there ?

If you're using Vista or Windows 7 then click your Start button and in the search box at the bottom type dxdiag and enter it and it should find the dxdiag program for you . If you really must play your games on a laptop rather than a PC then buy a cooling pad to put your laptop on while you're using it . The fans in laptops are rubbish compared to those in PCs and need all the help they can get .

What type of graphics do you have ? ( you can find out by typing dxdiag in your Start Search box and running that and then clicking the display tab of it ) .

Delete the ScriptCache file in your Sims 3 folder in your Documents folder ( ' your name ' / Documents / Electronic Arts / Sims 3 / Scriptcache.package and then try to reload the saved game again and see if the quick skill gains still happen . If the manual patch is installed what is this mythical Sims 3 app we're supposed to point to ? Is it the base game executable or what ?

:) After a short test game things seem to be running fine so far anyway .

I've chanced my arm and risked updating those 2 packs manually and now the updates are showing correct for all 4 packs that I have . I'm still puzzled as to why the launcher only half updated my game though and just hope my game works ok after updating it in an odd manner .
