  • @ewright9 I quite like where the Early Civ items are at right now, so you don't need any additional item restrictions :)
  • I have made a note of the house party goal in my update document, and I'll take a look at it once I get back into actively working on the challenge (I am taking a break at the moment to work on other projects, as I was continuously running into walls trying to work on this). For now, you're more than welcome to try out a…
  • I try to avoid making rules that don't really affect gameplay, just so that the rules won't be a massive wall of text, so I probably won't place any restrictions on crossdressing or customizing the gender options like body frame and such (there are naturally masculine women and feminine men after all). So instead, as with…
  • That is a good point. I'll make a note of that in my update document. You may play without the restriction right away (since it might be a while until I get back to actively working on the next update)
  • Hmm, if the crafted violin doesn't cost much less than the regular one, sure :) I might pop in and say hello during your stream if I have time (I have a lot of drawing projects that need to be done), but I can't make any promises :)
  • @ewright9 Thank you for the info and suggestions! At first glance, I'd say both placing and owning a restaurant should be disallowed until the Old West, and your suggestions for the Puppet Theater in the Middle Ages and the Gaming Station (is it any different from the base game Gaming Stations?) in Modern Day are good. As…
  • @Sarahkay Wonderful! I'll add it to the main post, if you'd like me to.
  • It is not disallowed, so it's up to you. However, you won't be able to complete the main goal (blowing out the candles) and multiple other goals, so you will not be able to get gold medals.
  • @Lenei14 Awesome! Would you like me to add it to the main post? And to all others: After months of endlessly bashing my head against the Wall of Unmotivation, trying to force myself to work on that major update I have planned but getting nowhere, I decided to officially take a break. Work on some other projects and focus…
  • @Zoey95 Sims that leave the household completely are considered out of the challenge so no, her children would not cause you to switch Era.
  • @Zoey95 I believe there's some other inspired decor that can be found (other than the ones you get from the Painter career), but I'm not sure. The restrictions on the types of paintings you can paint only apply during the Prehistoric Era, after that it's up to what you feel is appropriate.
  • No rules (yet), so just do what you feel is appropriate for now :)
  • @MeTime85 The woodworking table is there for the handiness skill, for earning simoleons toward goals, and to allow Sims to create and use objects they normally couldn't. As for populating the worlds, that's completely fine. Just maybe don't add a sim with all skills maxed and later move them into your household :)
  • @Zoey95 Well then. That's amusingly odd, but hey, if it works :)
  • @Zoey95 I took a look at the mod page on ModTheSims, and one person found that if you just have a computer somewhere on the lot (you don't have to use it, it just needs to be there), the book progress will be saved. You could try that, just put a computer in an inaccessible basement or something :)
  • @Zoey95 I can't recall experiencing that problem myself, but go ahead and use a computer if the problems are getting too annoying.
  • That depends entirely on the input I receive from you guys, the players. The challenge is technically "complete", in that it is fully playable from start to finish. The reason it is in beta is because I need to fine tune the rules using player input. Things like when different objects should be allowed, how difficult the…
  • @Lydiaa88 Sorry to hear that, computer issues are never fun. You can always just jump straight into Early Civ or Middle Ages (or maybe even Old West) if you are getting a bit tired of the Prehistoric Times by this point :) Just create a family of two parents and one child, and approximate an appropriate amount of money to…
  • Only for the first occurrence.
  • Not an in-game career, no, but you can still sell collectibles, paintings, woodwork and books.
  • No, they can't, so you can just sell it for some extra cash. They are only allowed to use "not-normally-allowed-items" if they craft them themselves (which in the case of instruments is not possible without having some skill with the instrument, sadly).
  • The best thing would be to have a completely empty World, but it's mostly for the sake of not having mansions and villas in a prehistoric world, so as long as you do not use the stuff in any of the houses, I guess it's okay. Of course, you could always use Newcrest for the challenge, since it's already empty :) Absolutely.…
  • @Zoey95 That depends on how strictly you want to follow the rules. According to the rules, you would have to go with only the aspirations allowed for the Prehistoric Era, even though you know you will soon change Era. But, there's no one to stop you if you want to bend the rules a bit. They are more like guidelines, anyway…
  • @historicalsimslife I have sacrificed some historical accuracy at a few places in the challenge for the sake of a smoother progression, and that rule is one of those places. Specifically, if divorce was allowed, it would then have to be disallowed again in the Middle Ages, and then reallowed yet again in the Old West,…
  • Technically, they only need to be on display at the moment the challenge ends. It doesn't matter if they are on display or not during the earlier Eras. That's completely up to you :) Sure, I guess you could have it as two generations, with shared goals. But you should probably try to increase the difficulty of the goals,…
  • Technically, the rules only say Sims can't get married, so it is up to each player to decide whether they feel it is appropriate for Sims to be boyfriend/girlfriend in the Prehistoric Era :) @Zoey95 Very nice! I might post a link to that cheat sheet of yours in the next update, once I get time to actually sit down and work…
  • @Zoey95 You should go with what the randomizer gives you. Since no one has gotten very far into the challenge yet, I do not know if this will be too hard/frustrating, so let me know if you start having trouble with the "complete each aspiration at least once" goal due to the randomizer, and I might soften up the rules a…
  • @Zoey95 To avoid complicating things as much as possible, I would not count any of the time-limited items towards any goals, but you can sell them just for money. I see no problems with you growing growfruit and keeping the planter and fertilizer, just use your common sense for when to use them. The skills absolutely count…
  • @OtterlyRidiculous Awesome, shall I link to it in the main post? That is completely up to yourself, you decide when you think it is appropriate :)
  • @Zoey95 Hmm, okay, so it's a bug that happens sometimes. What I would do myself is to save before moving a Sim out, and reload if the collections reset. Or, as you suggested yourself, keep track manually in some way. Then we'll just have to hope that they fix the bug soon :)
