How do I get Arezzo's bathroom counter out of my game...its not on launcher

«1
I have "Arezzo's Bathroom counter" in my game, and I heard that's bad CC, I don't even know how it got in my game, I want it gone, but its not on my launcher. Is there any way I can be rid of it, I looked on Crincit's list of bad CC and its not there.

I also used Delphy's Dashboard; but it doesn't tell me what the package files are; I have a few Corrupted in there; but I don't want to delete anything but the counter.

I'm not sure what package file is the counter because It must have came with a lot I downloaded as I haven't installed any CC furniture.

I would say it's attached itself to one or more of your (.sims3pack) files in the Donwloads folder.
IMHO it acts just like that doll.

I have no idea what the (.package) files number is or where it's in DCBackup.

    Sorry. :(

Yes the dynamicchallenge.sims3pack files need to stay in the Downloads folder. It could be attached to something on a sim in either the Export folder or the SavedSims folder. In either case, I would blow away the file. This content infects both downloads and uploads. And I do scan absolutely everything from here to next week.

I found it; don't know why I didn't think of doing this before; I went into build mode, added the counter to a lot, exported to the launcher, then scanned with Custard and got the package file number; and found the package in dccache backup.Stupid CC.I downloaded from someone I know well, but perhaps they got it attached to them which passed it to me.

That's how it happens. I saw a lot of it custard scanning for Ruby's build contests. People need to start scanning their uploads and downloads. If they don't that stuff just gets passed around from one simmer to another. Glad you found it.

Yet it doesn't show up on a lot that I purposely placed it on to scan. Its like its there; but not there.

Its odd, I just reuploaded with the counter placed on the lot and scanned with CC and it did not show up; so its like its there but not there.

    (if on Windows)
Go into the Documents folder and go into the electric Arts folder, [b/] DELETE the Sims 3 subfolder completely, restart the computer and open the game via the launcher.

I did that when My game got funky, works like a charm.

The reason deleting it from DCBackup didn't help is because the game doesn't load any files from that folder. The files there are only there so any CC you have can be attached to lots and sims that you export. Anything in that folder is loaded into your game from the DCCache directory.

If you cannot find it in the installed content of your launcher it is because you have a whole lot of store content and cc installed via sims3packs. The launcher doesn't do a good job of showing everything when you have a lot of stuff. The fact that you found the package in DCBackup means that it IS in one of the files in DCCache.

It's easy enough though to widdle it down so that the launcher should show it. What you want to do is:

    1. Make a copy of everything in the DCCache folder to a backup directory.
    2. Then delete every file ending in .ebc from the DCCache folder. That is all of your store content. Don't freak out, you made a backup in step #1.
    3. At this point the files in DCCache will be the ones ending in .dbc, this is your CC.
    4. If you only have one or two files ending in .dbc go to step 6.
    5. If you have many .dbc files delete all of them except dcdb0.dbc
    6. Start the launcher and look for the bad CC.
    7. If you find it, uninstall it. And go to step 10 below
    8. If you don't find it, delete Dcdb0.dbc from the DCCache folder and copy dcdb1.dbc from your backup folder and rename it to dcdb0 (once it is copied into DCCache). If you have already done dcdb1.dbc, do it with dcdb2, etc. etc. until you find the bad content. Always copying (keeping the original in the backup, unchanged).
    9. Return to step 6 above.
    10. If you had to rename any file in step 8, change it's name BACK to what it was originally. Then copy it back into your backup folder, overwriting the original. You are doing this because you want the backup folder have the file with the bad cc removed.
    11. Now copy everything from backup folder to the DCCache folder.
    12. Congratulate yourself on removing the bad CC.

That's all there is to it. Looks more complicated than it is.

Alternatively, seeing as you have the package information, you could try looking for it and removing it in the .dbc files with s3pe. S3PE can open that type of file.

Glad it worked for you. And that you figured out which step you forgot and got your town back.

I have had to do the process a few times to get rid of CC, my launcher long ago stopped showing all of my installed CC unless I went through this process because I have 11 files of store content and 3 of CC in DCCache. That is just more than the launcher can handle showing at once I guess.

I am really really annoyed that I have come across this counter

some people should double check their creations b4 sharing them and it wouldn't happen, I am not talking about those who have ended up finding it in their game and accidently sharing it but those who have create these Bad CC in the first place

I don't normally download of the exchange but decided to download a friends Sim and have got stuck with it :(

what I did to fix it was renamed my Sims folder and started a fresh game installed the Sims that I thought was infected, and then I deleted that save and went back to my original Sims folder re named it back
delete my DCBackup & DCCache and The Sims that the files attached to and re installed my store stuff no more Bad CC in my game :(

Hello the arezzo bathroom counter (see image below) is a corrupt hidden file attaching itself to sims!! you didn't download it via a lot. or as a furniture item. It is there because it is attached to a sim you downloaded. You need to check all sims you downloaded and uninstall the sims and the counter from the launcher. If you have so much cc and cannot see the bathroom you can download CC Magic from Modthesims.com which allows you to see everything you ever installed and to remove whatever cc you want to ,without actually doing it from your launcher. I can't stress how important it is to you all to get this counter out of your game. Its causing major malfunctions. Check all your sim uploads in your studio also for the counter, so you don't pass it on to others. I myself had to delete 30 sims affected with it :S it was unknown to me that i had it until someone told me. It's upsetting to delete your work, but in some cases on my favourite ones, i fixed the sim with delphy's custard tool and reinstalled it, and re-exported it and re-uploaded the clean version in to my studio. It is a pretty counter, but bad for your game and should not be attached to your sim! Also check households and lots. There is a fixed version of this counter but you will not know which version you have so it is better to get rid of it altogether.

    Custard tool free http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=390235
    CC Magic : http://nene.modthesims.info/download.php?t=461888

And the horrible corrupted counter as it is. If its in your launcher. NUKE IT!

You dont have to reinstall all your games...just the store content and 3rd party content you might use...

simply MOVE your dccache folder and the DCbackup folder to a safe place on your computer(just incase).....

now reinstall your downloads....start game..of all goes well....those other folders that you moved you can now delete...

Those "dreaded boots" were in my game too. I discovered that they were attached to a Sim that I had saved to my Sim Bin. Once I cleaned out my Sim Bin, they were gone. Something to consider doing. Good luck!

According to Custard, this counter attached itself to an empty, barren lots, unpopulated CAW world that I made only for myself. I very rarely download user-created content, so I don't know how it got in my game. I cleared my sim and library (lots) folder, and then I let the game generate a new DCCache folder...reinstalled all my store stuff, and then it was gone.

So glad I found this thread. I have the dreaded bath cabinets from hell and didn't have a clue as to how to get rid of them. Thanks.

ETA: I went through the list of what to do to get rid of the counter -- luckily (?) I only had one .dbc file to deal with. But when I went to the launcher to uninstall the counter, the dreaded "debug" message popped up every time I went into my Installed Content. So I risked it and just deleted the .dbc file directly from the folder.

    So far, so good.

    Thanks!

I followed the same steps Stormkeep posted along with suepea's .dbc file deletion (I only had one dbc file inside the folder).

I checked the Launcher to see if that globawful counter was not of the list and it was so I copied the original backup of Dcdb0 (which was also the same original name as the fresh one which was sorta odd so I didn't rename it) and the counter wasn't there yet again. So I took supea's advice and risked it all and nixed the Dcdb0 file.

Before I followed the removal process I managed to nix the package file of the counter found on DCBackup. For future reference, the full name can be found from NiniBeMe69's blog post.

For any Simmer(s) who is or are having laggy Internet, I'm posting the package file here for your convenience so that you won't have to wait a long time for the page to load. Super thanks again to NiniBeMe69: 0xee20737c7dc80e00dec6ef0b2c262a36.package

I also deleted the package file of the lot through sorting the files to Date Modified in Descending order. Before I nicked the package files I nixed the Sims3Pack of a CC-free lot that I DLd that stucked the counter onto. Plus the package files on the Library folder after nixing the said files on DCCache. I tried checking if the lot and/or the counter still appear in the list after I took out the Sims3Pack file and they weren't there anymore but I decided to take an extra measure and nicked the files on DCBackup before going through the DCCache.

Right now I'm re-installing my Store Sims3Packs and a few third-party CC hair retextures and makeup which were supposed to be installed first (they're clean by the way). I'll update this post for any news. Fingers crossed hope everything goes back to normal.

Good thing I haven't started any of the Saves me and my sister have and found the counter right after installation otherwise I'm seriously not gonna get some good night's sleep due to a llama-ton of worries concerning that bad CC whirl-pooling in my head.
I'm in your Top 5s and Wishlists. Gifting you pretty stuff ;)
