I initially had a problem using cheats on my fiance's laptop. It's an HP something or other...
The problem was that the ctrl+shift+c shortcut was already being used in HP Health Check or something, so my fiance changed the command for it and the problem was solved.

Game runs quite well on my laptop.

I have an old lenovo. I wouldn't recommend it. The game is very slow.
If you're going to get a laptop, get one that is built for gaming, good graphics and speed, eg, alienware laptops are gamers laptops, however can be extremely expensive (around 1000 for a good one).

I use a Gateway Ultimate Gaming laptop with Vista and use ctrl+shift+c to get the cheat bar.

We bought the Gateway Ultimate Gaming laptop (one for hubby and one for me) at Bestbuy when they first came out last year and they have been great. Really afforcable after buying Dell XPS laptops 3 years before, twice the computer for half the price. They have come down in price from what we paid too. I highly reccommend checking them out.

I play EQII on mine several times a week and hubby plays WoW on his plus several other games both MMO and regular PC games.

I have a vista on a Dell laptop and the Ctrl+Shift+C works for me everytime.

Basically the only Windows you can get is Vista. There are a few XPs floating around, but just about all computers/laptops are Vista.

And it doesn't matter which Brand name you get, whether Dell, HP, Toshiba. They ARE ALL manufactured the same, they just have different names, etc.

When buying the laptop just make sure that it can be a gaming computer. But talking to a sales associate in the store is a great option because they are trained to answer any questions and concerns and help you find a laptop that will best meet your needs.

Also, any laptop can be a lemon, it just happens, with all brand names. It's impossible to make all computers the exact same way.

EDIT: That's what I did anyway. Found one that meets my needs and was on sale-price. The associate and I spent over an hour going through my options and what would be the best laptop. She broke everything down for me, gave me all the specs, and now I have a fully loaded gaming laptop that can play the most intense game, (which I can't remember the name of, it's a shooters game, Cy-something???) (That's gonna drive me nuts) But it was for sale so iz happy.

Do you have the Toshiba Satellite L305-S5924? Does the game runs well? I'm going to have one soon and I want to know if the graphics are good so I can play on it.

Is it the FX series laptop? Those are boss <3 (I work for Best Buy; in fact I sell computers xD) We clearanced out the last model and didn't get a new one in this time :/ The last one had a gig of dedicated memory on the nvidia card. The XPS laptops definitely get expensive, but one of the newest ones is 1099 right now and runs blu-ray as well, so it's not as bad as it has been.

I'm running Sims 3 beautifully on the 13" aluminum MacBook I bought back in Feb/Mar or so, model MB466LL/A. It's a 2gb ddr3 system with a ded. graphics card (nvidia 120, or something....Can't remember...) but I'm getting ready to get another 2gb added in. It doesn't seem to get too hot, but I'll probably invest in a cooling pad eventually.

Asus usually has some sweet computers too; those would definitely be worth looking into.

A HP Vista is pretty good. It's an okay price and does everything. Actually any PC laptop is good, just get the chepest available and you'll be fine. :D

I play on a Toshiba Satellite, couple years old and obviously not built for TS3 at all as it just passed all minimum requirements apart from the CPU, which needed more RAM and still isn't in itself in the right range of card (it's something Intel xD). But oh well, it runs.

I use Vista; I've heard complaints about it sometimes but I've never had a bad word to say about it.

Don't buy laptops/desktops based on brands really! For the simple reason you can get exactly the same hardware in every brand and you are just paying more just because of the brand.
In case of laptops there isn't a perfect one for games simply because it's quite hard to upgrade one. Laptops get outdated almost after a year they come out (unless you are filthy rich and can buy the latest laptop machine every year :D)
For example I was drooling on the new Qosmio of Toshiba when it came out like a year ago and was suggested at the time as the best laptop for gamers. When I was shopping for a new laptop (last Christmas) I found out a laptop that fulfilled my needs and is as good as that one and was way more cheaper(less than half of the Qosmio price).
For "real gamers" (and obvious for people that work in computing area) I suggest to make your own desktop, its cheaper and you can build a good machine that will be easy to upgrade.

Well about Vista... I blame the stores/brands that sell computers with Vista that are not prepared for it and most of the store clerks don't know 🐸🐸🐸🐸 about it. Like a computer with only 512 MB of ram with a really piece of crap of a processor and with a all in one motherboard you can't expect that vista will run smoothly with it (so imagine what would happen if you play more "hardcore" games in it). My father made the mistake of buying one like that and my solution was to kick out vista and put linux to run without problems (and my only use for it (now) is as a storage and downloading center).

Sure, Vista has tons of bugs that makes you pull your hair although a good manual configuration of the system helps a lot (and better ask expert to do it) and a constant "taking care" (I treat my computers as if they are my babies).

I'm using a HP laptop and the only thing I still complain about it (although they have improved a bit) is the cooling system.. It still warms a lot even with a cooler under. Besides that all my recent games (including sims3) run fast, smooth and with all graphic definitions very high.

About CTRL+SHIFT+C in HP usually doesn't work because it's default short key for HP Health Check. A problem easy to solve, you just have to change it for another key.

Another reason sometimes games don't run is because people forget to update drivers or they have to do some shady tricks (Like this Y game (that I think I cannot say the name here) isn't able to recognise the NVIdia PhysX that comes with the graphic drivers (for the ones who have NVidia graphic cards), so to make the game work you have to download the stand alone version).

I think I wrote enough for a week xD

Have fun with the Sims :D

Might as well say I have an Acer Aspire that I bought new for about $450. It isn't the greatest machine but my sims game can handle a lot. :)

Don't buy a Sony, I've had my Sony laptop for less than two years now and I've had two issues with it. First it was the fan and now it's some flickering/flashing upon start up.

I recommend you get an HP laptop. In my experience they last a good while and I've only had problems with them after I've gotten my money's worth out of them.
