Maybe your game does not have the graphics turned up. Go to options and turn texture and object detail and other graphic options to medium/high and then restart your game and see how that works. :D

It's likely your resolution settings or a bad graphic card/drivers issue.

On mine it's like Sims 3=HD and Sims 2=Early VHS, Sims=LOL

    I agree.
    Changing the resolution makes it
    look a little better though.

I thought that too until I turned up my graphicd to medium. Then it looked sooo great! I would turn it up to high but I don't think my computer could handle it.

I thought the exact same thing when I downloaded it on my old computer [i know i'm bad.. but i bought the 70$ one to make up for it!]

but then i got a new computer, with a WAY better graphics card, and now my game is perfect.

Everyone doesn't have the same PC
    with the same graphic cards.
So it is possible that she see's an SIMS 1
and SIMS 3 resemblance and you see something
    totally different.

Turn the settings up (it's automatically set to low) and increase the resolution to 1200X800 or higher. That worked for me, now the graphics are absolutely amazing.

I got the game a few hours ago. I tried it on my desktop computer. The graphics were so horrible that I could not even see all of the opening Video. I tried making different adjustments but not much change.

I tried the game on my HP Pavilion Entertainment PC (notebook). Reminds me of the song 'Everything is beautiful'. The settings are maxed out for most things! I love this game! :)

I'll keep 2 for a while until pets and weather and we can own and run are own businesses.

I think after a year or so we should have most problems debugged. I still have graphics problems running SPORE on my desktop even with latest NVIDIA driver.

SPORE also runs well on my laptop. Video hardware might be part of it. My desktop uses a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 5900. My laptop is Intel integrated ? I forgot but it's top of the line.

I sure was glad when slow poke UPS finally brought the game. I thought of a new meaning for UPS; United Parcel Slllooooowwwww!

I think the game decides based on your specs where to set it. Mine started out on medium, which is beautiful! I haven't tried high since I'm happy where I am and don't want to tempt fate.

Hahaha, KeigiPlooen! Those pics were pretty funny. I remember having a couple of experiences like that back in my Sims 1 days. Horrible game now compared to The Sims 3, but how great it was back then!

Of course it can't be seen at the first glace, but the resemblance is uncanny! Especially when you pause the game. Onec when I returned from my trip to the kitchen after pausing my game I got a shock! A moment of doubt ! I was not sure which game I was playing! The picture looked soooo much like TS1!

You evidently must posses the observant skill to notice it!

Umm...no. I played Sims 1 today and they look absolutely nothing alike. Nothing wrong with the classics, but Sims 1 graphics are primitive compared to the Sims 3.
