    How big is too big?

    Ok, I know I'm not going to be popular bringing this up but so be it.

    This relates to signatures. I don't have a problem with them in general (I have one myself) except for a few. So, how big is too big?

    I'm not out to single anyone out. Quite a few of the animated ones are ranging from about 1 MB to over 3 MB. Why does this annoy me?

    1) ISP's are starting to enforce caps on DL/UL (and yes the forum is reflected in that count). I really don't feel like adding those totals to my monthly cap.

    2) They mess up the scrolling of the messages in a Java based board.

    Also, huge (as in width/height) just annoy me, especially if it is just white space.

    It may be just me but I don't think so.

    So, is there a limit?

      What bothers me are the signatures that are really tall. And I'm talking about the ones that take up twice as much room than mine. They just annoy me really.

      I use firefox so they get cut off if they're over 100px in height.

      And I'd say even my signature is a little too big, but why should anybody care as long as it looks good?

      I would think that mine is the right size. Not too big and not too small.

      I wondered why so many seemed to be seriously cut off. I use firefox and always have. I laugh at the ones that are like the previous poster's and just the forehead. lol

      When some siggies are 5 3/4 inches TALL, then yeah, I'd say they are too big.

      There are already rules on siggies, but they obviously aren't enforced:

      Confine your signature to three lines or less.
      Keep the content of your post easy on the eyes and focused.
      Having a lengthy signature distracts and clutters the board.


      I could see a siggie being an inch tall or so, but anything more is plain distracting IMHO

      Hehe thanks. I've been getting a lot of that lately...I should just make the sig link to InnocentSorrow's thread (though I'm pretty sure she only takes requests when she's really bored).

      I've used that dragon before, too! I thought that was lost forever. It was on this computer's umm...grandmother lol.


      I use firefox, normally. For a while I was using IE tab with it to see the sigs, but they got way too annoying, so I get to see a lot of foreheads now too. :P

      I use bigger siggies when they're in different places, like certain forums for my other fandoms. Here, I just stick with small siggies, 'cause of the firefox problem.

      I use FF, so I have to deal with the cut-off siggies, too.

      dl/ul cap ... Gambinozz548 big sig is only 39k. i seriously doubt thats going to put that much of a dent in your cap.
