How do I fix a freezing/crashing issue? :? No one seems to want to tell me except about a DEP? Which I am so clueless about.

    1. Are you using any CC or mods? No
    2. If you are using mods, are you using any of the 'big ones' like Awesome Mod or Twallan’s mods. Removed Twallan's for now.
    3. If you're not using mod, did you never use them or did you take them out for the EP (as you are supposed to do). Removed them.
    4. What EPs do you own. All.
    5. What patch level (game version) are you currently at. 1.26.89.013017
    6. Some basic Info about your Computer Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53 GHz, 4 GB ram, ATI Mobility Radeon HD3670, Windows 7 Home
    7. Did you start a new game for Pets or are you playing an existing ones N/A
    8. What town are you playing ? EA or Custom ? N/A

Yesterday I installed the patch and was able to play sims. I had all mods and CC removed. Today after installing Pets, I try to launch the game and get a black loading screen. When I move the cursor, the game freezes and the game window becomes unresponsive.

I was able to open CAW (Create-a-World) and use the new Pets build items, so it seems the game installed okay.

    Things I have already tried:

    1. DEP for the new EP.
    2. LAA for the new EP.
    3. FPS Limiter but that failed to even launch.
    4. Uninstalling Pets. Tried to play Generations (which was fine yesterday after the patch), but got the same black screen.
    5. Reinstalling Pets.

    Anything else I should try?

Data Execution Prevention. I think there was some info about that in the first post? It's actually quite easy to do and not a lot of work :D

After Installing the EP, my downloaded worlds dissapeared. Barnacle Bay, Riverview, and Hidden springs. I downloaded them from purchase history again, installed. They show up in installed worlds tab, but when I launch the game they arent in the game menu. They aren't in installed worlds folder. So, I restarted the game and they are no longer in installed content tab. I try and install again from downloads tab and it says already installed? What am I doing wrong? Also I only have game and store content. no custom content, or Mods.

Anyone else having this problem? I clean installed Pets, have no problems with the pet portion of the game... however- my CAS is completely off for human sims. I can't adjust weight/muscle and I can't change age or gender.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Did not fix the problem. If anyone has a solution, I would love you forever.

Hello! I just bought The Sims 3 Pets today and had finished installing it awhile ago. I went ahead and downloaded the pet store, the registration bonus, and the IAMS items.

I start the game, it will get pass the beginning screen. Then I went ahead and chose Appaloosa Plains (since it's new) to try it out, and while it's loading it will crash out of nowhere! I've contacted technical support, but they are no help. They told me to reinstall and turn off my firewall, which I did and it did not work. I figured maybe it was the town, but when I tried to load a previous family it would not work either, same for starting in a new neighborhood. Please help.

Additional info: I am running Windows 7 and have every single expansion pack which was working fine until now

I'm just going to point out because we are all learning how to play new ep that the pet has to select the toy and practice hunting, not just play with it.
Yea, that's the option i selected. I let it go for a while and focused on my human sims wishes and when I came back to the cat that's when I first noticed it. I thought that maybe b/c it was the 1st time the cat was "training to hunt" that why it wasn't raising. so I cancelled it, had the cat do something else, and then clicked on the mouse again, choosing " learn to hunt" and still, no raising of the skill :( Hopefully someone will know what to do b/c i'm clueless with figuring this stuff out!!!

Ok, I'm going to go try it out with a dog. I've only worked with cats so far.

I'm having the same issue. When I send my cat to practice hunting on a toy the skill bar never goes up. Also when she is practicing none of her needs go down.

    Hi everyone!
I just bought the Sims 3 Pets from Origin (the PC download one)and when I got to install it, it claims I have a game update. I agree and let it patch/update, and it gets to the two bars in the gray box. It gets to the very end and I get hit with: "Update Error: Invalid File Found". This stops at the file bin/TS3W.exe if that helps any. I know this must be a common problem, but I just bought the game and I really want to play. Also, I had bought generations but uninstalled it because I am in college and my mom wanted to play. So I uninstalled it but installed a hacked version but uninstalled it after a while before pets. To make sure my game played well without it, I tested it and it played out fine, no issues. But now I want to play pets and it won't patch/update! What should I do? Pets is the only game I am using on the EADM and I don't have any of my disks with me (due to being in college). Plllleeeease help! Thank you!

    Hello :o)
I found one thing ... My Sim can't recycle now.
Also the cheat to gain life time rewards isn't working <-- nothing game breaking.
    I'll keep looking.
    Thanks
    just me
    Darrq

edit: I started a fresh game and use CAS this time ... Not a pre-made. The CAS did not have any issues.

Well I should have done this earlier, but I updated my display drivers and flashed my bios to the latest version

I recommend for people having issues to do the same! I'm playing my game now, will update if more issues are found.

    Happy simming!

Just bought my copy of the pets expansion just a few hours ago, got home as soon as I can to install. It installed smoothly as usual, no problems there. But when I got to the start up window to click on the play button the screen goes black and that's all.
I waited it out for a good 10 mins but nothing. My curser is a shown as a loading symbol but nothing is going on.
My hp laptop doesnt even sound like its running the disk. It doesn't let me exit the black screen, I can't even ctrl-alt-delete my way out.
I tried a second time and still got the same results. My sims 3 is up to date with the latest upgrade too.
    Please help
    It'll be highly appreciated :)

I had the same problem, did you update your graphics driver and the bios? (Google these for help). What about removing mods and CC?

I have a MacPro desktop running The Sims 3 Ambitions and now Pets with today's purchase. My game actually plays fine for a bit, and then suddenly freezes. The rest of my computer is fine, and I can force quit it. STILL ANNOYING THOUGH!!! I'm only playing with a cat too, right now. I don't have a ton of CC in my game, but I'm going to try to remove it tomorrow and see how my game goes.

But I posted my issue already, just in case if someone else has the same computer/Pets problems. :( I haven't tried with the other animals yet either.

hey, don't know if this is an issue that will persist or just a freak thing. I played with a foal and one sim on the lot. Then decided to check out other pets. I had him get a python and a puppy. When everyone (the horse man and pup)went to sleep, the program quit responding. the zzzz from the puppy were moving and his plumbob kept moving, but other than that everything froze. I have a good graphics card I think nividia geforce 8800. My computer is built for gaming. I have no mods or custom content. Hopefully it was just a spasm! :D

    1. Are you using any CC or mods ?: Nope.
    3. If you're not using mod, did you never use them or did you take them out for the EP (as you are supposed to do): Never used them.
    4. What EPs do you own: Base, Nightlife, Generations, Pets
    5. What patch level: 10.0.96.013001
    6. Some basic Info about your Computer: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200, 2 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5670, Win Vista
    7. Did you start a new game for Pets or are you playing an existing ones: New game.
    8. What town are you playing ? EA or Custom ? EA, the new town. I forget the name.

The biggest problem is that my pets stand around and do NOTHING. They are set to behave on their own, as are my sims. The pets do not interact with each other, or their humans (who were all located at the home at the time) and as such their social plummeted and by the time I noticed the social worker took them away. I started up a prior save and watched carefully and would witness multiple pets stand in a room doing nothing for in-game hours at a time, until a need popped up (food, litter box, etc). It's game-breaking for me.

The upper option on the radial menu when selecting a pet as a human is blank.

When picking up a cat, if you successfully pick up the cat and then try to perform an action like "pet", the human sim is teleported a short distance away, as is the cat without the action taking place. Praising/scolding for their actions also has a similar problem, though it does work occasionally.

I think there's a messed up animation for the cats, or something. My video card is not on the list of messed up cards, and everything looks fine except in two instances where I saw a cat suddenly become massively stretched out and distorted looking, like their skeleton was trying to perform an action that was built for a larger skeleton.

Please read previous posts. There is a fix for this. Overwatch fixes the hunting bug.

@EndlessSims3: Please post in technical with your DxDiag Info.

@Farfox: Pets is very demanding on the card. MTS has that card listed as not even working for the base game. Sorry, you probably need a new card.

    @BrandN817: What's your card ?

@SuperBlondasse: How did you uninstall. Remove the mod folder ? Cache files need to be deleted as well.

@Druscylla: Does it only happen in the new hood or everywhere ?

@dedoom123: Did you try the same dog or a different one ?

    @SuperBlondasse: To everyone in general.

    @xOEDragonx: Any mods ?

@RuthC: This is some sneaky bug. I don't see any patterns. I tried in my game (just patched) and it worked fine.

@Acchan0: delete your cache files and try again or do that before reinstalling: http://crinrict-help.blogspot.com/2011/06/tutorial-resetting-game-to-factory.html

Hey guess what? I installed overwatch, and I'm able to use bait again. O.o

Im not certain if this has been addressed yet but Im having problems with items Ive bought from the Sims store. For instance, the beds dont cover the sims so they look all creepy with folded down feet and hands. My sim hovers a bit back from the bought chairs and eats through the chair. I have screenies and it only seems to be happening to items that Ive bought from the store. I have yet to really test all the chairs though.

Another bug Im noticing is when I send my sim and her horse to practice racing at the horse training place they will do a lap and then teleport back home and begin running to the training grounds again. This happens every time unless I make them go to the grounds and then select to train for racing.

My sims are also not completing tasks. For example, repairing their squatter's sink. The bar will fill but then it goes on infinitely. If I wait a moment and then cancel the action it counts as being completed but I could repair the sink all day if I dont remember to cancel it. Infinite action also seems to apply to the chess set matches with an opponent.

These bugs are nothing compared to how much enjoyment I am getting out of this expansion. Now back to unicorn hunting! <3
