Hello I thought a Forum Thread of your Hints/ Tips/ Tutorial Links would be very usefull to all of us creators. Feel Free to Post anything you think will be useful that you have learned along the way, add a few Screenshots too if needed to explain.
This I learned only Yesterday, that you can colour the edge of tiles that are on a Balcony or even under a Bay window. Here is a Picture of my window and the colour under it. Just use the Palette tool to click on the edge, it will colour all the tile edges on that level.

HOW I MAKE CAP PATTERNS
To start with I have folders on my desktop for any pictures I find online that I right click on and choose 'Save as' into a suitable folder such as 'Kids' etc.
1. Open up the Tool on desktop then I click on 'Add a New Sticker' this opens a Screen to import from my folders on desktop. This I click 3 times until I see 'Desktop'.
2. Double click on the word 'Desktop' and you will see all your desktop folders. Double click on the 1 you have your pictures in for patterns.
3. Choose 1 and click and you will see it in 'File Name' them click the Tick accept, this will now be in the 'Stickers'.
4. Now what I always do in the bottom layer called 'Background Colour', I click on it and use the colour wheel to put any colour in it, I will explain the reason soon.
5. Then I click on the next layer up and then drag the 'Sticker' into the central section.
6. The 'Sticker' can now be pulled to fit the central square.
7. When I think the edges of the 'Sticker' meet up, I go into 'Preview Mode' and I always use the 'Wall' then click apply.
8. So now you will see the pattern on the rear 'Wall' and you will be able to 'Zoom' in on the wall and see if any of the 'Background colour' ls showing.
9. To go back click on the 'Exit Mode', it looks like a pen.
Note.
I will show a picture that you can see the 'Background colour' as this is what you do Not want to be showing.
10. When you are satisfied that all 4 sides are close together or slightly overlapping, you click on the 'Options Menue' and on 'Export pattern' you click to get a screen appear where you Type in the pattern name then the drop down menue where you pick what type of pattern it is. If you want you can write a short description, I use this to say if my pattern appears seamless.
11. Then click the 'Tick' and it will put up another screen for you to click OK.
12. That 1 is all done so then you can use the 'Hammer' eraser tool to remove that sticker or press Undo until its gone, then start with the next sticker.
13. When you have mastered how to make the pattern then you can start using the other sections of the create a pattern tool, such as making the pattern 'Lighter' or 'Darker' or even use the 'Colour Wheel' to change the colours.
BTW all the written instructions are on page 13 in case you want to copy/paste for a notepad.
Special Hint/Tip
The bottom layer that I made pink in the picture, I have often seen people using it when its white to put 'Stickers' on that have white backgrounds. Well as the layer is not pure white it shows up behind the 'Stickers', so if you want a white background always pull the slider to the brightest white it will go before adding white backed stickers.

I discovered that trick quite by accident when I was working on my Topsy Turvy Antique Shop build. So glad I did, it can make all the difference in the world. ^_^
And great idea for a thread Heather.
One of the things that took me awhile to figure out that other knew (kept missing the threads where it was talked about) is that in order toget your Sims paintings to stay with an uploaded lot you have to leave them unframed. Otherwise they disappear when uploaded.
PICTURES FRAMED
Just so you know for the future you can have any painting in the house you like normal, still-life or whatever but DO NOT frame canvas. I had this problem too with my contest entry for Brainybee's build Bridgeport contest, I spent ages doing custom paintings for that one and as soon as I uploaded it I lost all the artwork apart from the three that were not framed. So I had to get my sim painting again and I did not frame any the second time and they all uploaded ok with the lot.
How Do I Place Sim-Painted Art on a Community Lot?
LoveEvil
helped me solve the problem where art painted by a sim and placed on a
community lot would disappear when exported from the game. To solve this
problem, place the painted artwork in your sim's personal inventory.
Save your game with a new save name so you don't mess up your current
game. Go to Edit Town mode, click on the community lots, and click on
the first button in the pop-up window to change the lot type. Change it
to Residential. (WARNING: This will remove certain Community-only items
from the lot. You can replace them later.) Move your sim into the lot.
Go back into live mode and move the paintings from your sim's inventory
(using the drag hand) to the wall where you would like it to hang. If
you would like to name the painting, do so now using the sim that
painted it. DO NOT FRAME THE PAINTING. (Framed paintings will be removed
from a lot when it is exported.) If needed, go to Buy Mode and move the
painting around, drag it up and down the wall, etc. Once all artwork
has been arranged as you would like, save the game and switch back to
Edit Town mode. Click on the lot and EVICT your sim without the house so
that you now have an empty residential lot. Click the Return to Game
button so that your sim will be removed from temporary storage and
artwork can no longer be returned to their inventory. Switch back to
Edit Town mode and change the lot type to Community - Visitors Allowed.
Edit the lot to add any community items that might have disappeared.
Save and export!

I also had this Tip
TAKING PICTURES
have you used the Tab trick? When you are in game if you are in live mode and hit the "Tab" key it will take you to picture-taking mode. You can get many different angles this way, including what might look like a wide-angle. You can use "X" to zoom out and "Z" to zoom in and "C" to take a picture.

I also never remember how to do Half Tiles (Triangle)
Control + F
Now I have a reminder

NICHE - using MOO, in case some simmers don't already know this.
EDIT - if you have a problem placing objects in the area behind the niche, just use MOO to place them. Sometimes, even if an object doesn't "break through" the wall to the other side, it interferes with normal object placing, so just use MOO.
1. place one wall panel.
2. place another wall panel at 90 degree angle.
3. put 3rd wall at diagonal, from the 1st to 2nd panels
4. enter MOO.
5. place arch on diagonal wall.
6. put wall or hanging light or lights.
7. place object or pedestal with object, use alt keep to move into desired position.
8. adjust object position and raise/lower wall lights until the desired effect is reached.
