Here's how you can find out (because I need to buy a card too  )
-Click "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of the screen
    -Click "Run"
    -Type DXDIAG
-Click the tab at the top that says "Display"
-Under the blue title "Device" you should see the Card's Name.
-Plz post the name  8)

Wow. I just leave mine on default settings because I'm afraid if I go up it'll crash my game. :(

I felt just the same before I change the graphic options in game! The game was so slowww before with crappy graphics and I was so discouraged to even continue playing. Changing just a few options totally have me addicted to TS3. (building houses all day long)~

I played around with the options too, adjusting them until I got it to the point where it looks pretty decent. Then I see pics like these and think Ohhhh I need that new graphics card installed!

My worry is just that I had so many problems in the beginning getting game to work right that I hate to take a chance on screwing it up again. I have a new card sitting in the box waiting to be installed, but think- OMG what if it doesn't work? What if it screws everything up again????

I say GO FOR IT! What's the worst that could happen? If it's on the list of supported video cards found here: http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq It'll work. If not, you can always go back and put in the old card :D(Even if it doesn't work, that's what the forums are for :P)

I know EXACTLY how you feel Scarlett...the first time I played w/ my new card, I kept forgetting to actually play my sims because I was too busy gawking at the scenery! LOL

It's easy enough to install yourself, but I am glad I had Best Buy put mine in when I bought the machine. Since the card was overclocked by the manufacturer (nVidia), it has a built in fan right on the video card to keep it from overheating. My graphics died on the second day, so I took it back and they found that it was because the fan was tight against the TV/Tuner card that came with the machine. The fan couldn't turn, thus burning out the card. They replaced the card for free, and I had them remove the TV/Tuner card so it wouldn't happen again. They offered to replace it with a different model card, but this was the best card available at the time and was on sale - $100 cheaper than the next best. Sometimes the Geek Squad techs don't know what they are doing, but if they learn from it and it doesn't cost me anything extra, I'm happy.

I haven't had so much as a wheeze from my machine since then.

I'm updating to the Nvidia 9600gt Overclocked soon from BFG. And that's from a Nvidia 6150 XD. And don't worry I have already updated my PSU. On the phone with Bestbuy right now trying to figure out my whole the monitor won't plug into the graphic card problem :D.

I have blue wire, they have a white plugin ;].
