Man, what gives?

«1
Is it me? I don't know, but my game runs SO slow. Well, the start up is fine and all but it takes my Sims too long to do ANY action. Changing clothes? Yeah they'll stand there for an hour before they finally change. Going downtown? Forget it, I can't even get a dance & a drink in before closing time.

This really sucks, it's making it hard for me to enjoy my game. I got this computer TO play the sims 3, I even switched my computer settings to High Performance. I've got down all the effects to either Medium or Low, except for Sim detail. But even when I lowered that setting my Sims still take too long to do an action.

Anyone else experiencing this? How can I fix it..ugh I wanna play my gaaame. I'm getting bored with waiting for my Sims to interact, even when I put it in full speed!!

So you're saying World Adventures is doing this? I have all the Expansion packs plus stuff packs.

The sims 3 games are the only games I have installed onto my computer as well.

Oh i doubt it's your pc. Alot of people including myself have been posting about the sims standing around doing nothing. Like my sim will stand in front of the shower for a good 3-4 sims hours. and it doesn't matter if i cancell the action, or they will stand in front of the sofa, like if they forgot how to sit down. I think it a bug , and i notied that it has gotten worst since i installed the lastest patch update.

How many tasks do you have running in the background?

There are a high number of programs that load by default when Windows starts and background tasks like antivirus scanners, firewall and network monitoring, CD utilities, fingerprint scanners, and live feed desktop apps put a tremendous task load on the CPUs even before you start the Game Launcher.

I'd look at how many background tasks you have running in the toolbar and task bar, and how many are unnecessary when you want to run the Sims.

You can use Control + Alt + Delete to access the Task Manager to also show what's running for Applications and Processes. The number of unnecessary background tasks affecting CPU performance will probably be mind boggling.
There but for the Grace of God go I.

when was the last time you deleted the following:
    versions.tag
    CASPartCache
    compositorCache
    scriptCache
    simCompositorCache?

these can be safely deleted w/o messing with your game. I cant say if it helps with the slowness or not but you can try it. Hope it helps, even just a bit. Also, I find that doing a disk defrag on my system helps.

Do you have any CC because this can cause a lot of lag as well - the CC that I have I have merged so that I only have a couple of packages and so it loads quicker than if I had 100+ packages.

You don't need to mess with the version tag or presets but you can delete the 4 other cache files listed. I do this every time I finish playing as the game will recreated these files the next time you go into your game.

Also, update your video drivers. They are over a year out-of-date. Set your video to low settings, you only have 285 Mb video RAM.

That's what I'm saying, the game isn't slow..the sims just stand there forever until they do something..the game runs just fine, the graphics are great.

My sims take a while to do most things...it normally doesn't bother me TOO much, because it isn't too bad of a pause, but when I try to get a sim to start a conversation with another sim it takes forevvveeeeer. They just stand there and stare at each other for about 10 minutes. 8)

Well, it's not my computer. I took of all the CC to try that out..still the same. It's not my computer, it's only a year old and I bought it specifically to play this game.

    EA please fix our sims!!

It may not be easy for EA to fix this being every player is not having that problem. I am starting to believe it may be the Cache, it may be be expanding everytime you play and it may be bloated.

I wrote down the caches that someone else mentioned are okay to delete. I'm not a huge computer savvy person, so wanted to ask...Its really okay to delete these? I'm not going to have any weird glitches or file errors after doing so? If there's even a chance of that, I'll just put up with my "little bit slow" sims. :P

How exactly do I do this? the cache thing? I have NO mods installed in my game as I have no clue how to manually install content.

& A LOT of people are having this problem, so there should be a patch made to fix it. it's so bad for me I can't even enjoy the game, honestly. I feel really 🐸🐸🐸🐸.

Deleting may/may not help. I too delete

    CASPartCache
    compositorCache
    scriptCache
    simCompositorCache

and I have noticed weird 'stoppages', my sim kid stuck at school, and the staring before chatting.

My sims always get stuck in doorways and pause there for a good while. EVERY time.
I'm telling you, this is beyond frustrating. I don't recall it being this bad before the new EP. I was able to get stuff done without getting bored! What fun is it to sit and watch your Sim frozen like a Popsicle?
