First Try At the story telling I have never written a story in my life so please be kind...





Starlit had no memory of her life before the streets she didn't remember how she came to be at the park that dreadful day. She woke up one day at the hospital with slowly healing bruises and cuts all over her body and a large painful bump on her head, The doctors told her she had been found at an abandoned park on the outskirts of town by a traveler passing by and had been in a comma for 6 weeks. The traveler had found her passed out in a pool of blood apparently left for dead and rushed her to the nearest hospital. The doctor told her she had been pregnant but had sadly lost the baby due to server complications of the beating she had incurred. She had a locket with her name on it but the hospital could not find any information on her. It was as if she just appeared in thin air. Dr. Valcorealo had hoped if she pulled through she would be able to fill in the blanks but sadly she had no memory before waking up. Dr. Valcorealo felt sorry for her and tried to get the hospital to allow her to stay on hopes of her memory returning but with no insurance the hospital board declined and made her leave as soon as she was well enough to be discharged. The kind doctor gave her $200 to help her on her journey and wished her luck.
Starlit had no where to go and no one to help her she was thankful for the kind doctors generosity but $200 wouldn't get her far she had to figure out what to do now. The Dr told her where the park was in hopes that it would help her retain her memory but warned her to be careful as the threat may still be lurking out there. Starlit headed back to the park as she had no where else to go hopeful she would remember so she could go home where ever that may be. On her way to the park she spotted a bike shop and figured that was a good use of some of the money the kind Dr had given her and she entered the bike store. Starlit looked around the shop and soon realized that bikes were extremely expensive they actually wanted $250 for one simple bike "That almost enough to buy a used car" she thought silently in her head. Night was beginning to fall and the park was still along way away she would never make it before dawn if she didn't find a faster way to get to the park she was beginning to get tired and she didn't think she would make it if she tried walking the rest of the way her head was hurting from the unhealed bump on it She didn't want to waist the money on a taxi. Starlit decided to try bargaining with the shop owner. The shop owner saw her bruised face and disheveled appearance and felt bad for her he decided to give her a deal of $150 on a "used" bike. Someone had only taken it out for a test drive and put a scratch on the paint, He was losing money on the deal but thought of it as his good deed for the day. Starlit thanked him and quickly started on her way again. As Starlit rode her new bike towards the park she wondered about the baby and the baby's father was he looking for her was he sick with sorrow? She passed the park because it was surrounded by dieing trees but quickly realized it because the doctor told her it was just before a junk yard so she turned around and found the park she arrived at the park just before midnight tired and exhausted she thought of the warning from the kind Dr but was too tired to focus on it she saw the bench by the lake and decided to take a quick nap. As she was drifting off to sleep she wondered how the traveler had found her because even with good directions from the kind doctor she hadn't seen it and missed it. She was so tired she decided not to dote on it and put it off as her lucky day and sent a quick prayer thanking god for the traveler finding her before it was too late. Starlit awoke a few hours later with her head pounding it was completely dark, and she was cold she dug in her pocket for the pill bottle that the Dr given her and took 2 of the pain pills. When her head felt better and her eyes adjusted to the dim light from the moon she looked around and took in her surroundings she saw a makeshift fire pit that someone had apparently left long ago and made a fire she didn’t know how she knew how to light a fire but was happy that she did. When the fire grew she was able to see more of her surroundings and Starlit quickly realized that the park had indeed been abandoned and had not been taken care of in along time. This park had some unknown meaning in her life and she intended to find out what it was no matter what the cost she had to know. Starlit didn’t recognize anything as she had hoped; Starlit looked around and took in her surroundings. The park had a nice lake surely good for fishing an apple tree good for food an outhouse toilet, a sink, 2 bench’s one of witch she had slept on and a tree swing. Starlit soon realized that this park was the perfect place to stay as she had only $50 left and she would surly need that for necessities. This park was not what most would consider a good home and could use a lot of work but for someone with nothing and nowhere to go it seemed like the perfect place to start. This was her new home and new life and she had to make the best of it, With her mind made up she decided that she would work on the park to make it more habitable first thing in the morning and hoped with the park being abandoned and on the outskirts of town she should be able to live here unnoticed. Starlit was hungry so she grabbed an apple from the apple tree and ate it now that she felt sustained she realized she was still very tired and decided to take a nap before she started her new life. The next morning she woke at dawn with the determination to start her new life and make this park livable. She started the day pulling weeds and she decided to visit the junk yard next door maybe she could find something to make her job easier or something she could use to make her life easier one persons junk could be another persons treasure right?



At the junk yard she found 108 units of scrap some old gardening tools a lamp and a prim and proper couch. Starlit decided she didn’t need all the items and decided to fix them up and go into town and to sell them; she went back to town and sold all the items she found at the local consignment shop and got $1,210. Dazed by how much money she got from junk from the junk yard she almost didn’t notice the Mayor approaching as she was passing the towns City hall the Mayor stopped her and begged for her help, They had clogged pipes at the city hall and the Plummer hadn’t shown and asked Starlit to unclog it she told him She would try What could it hurt right?, Starlit was able to unclog the pipe, there was a crocodile stuck in the pipes she was paid 500 dollars and was allowed to keep crocodile for her trouble. Starlit was on cloud nine she now had $1,760 from one day. She knew she had to save the money but decided to treat herself to dinner and a show. She stopped at the local diner only to discover they had an eating contest she was pretty confident she could win as she hadn’t eaten all day and she could eat a whole llama and to beat it was free to eat with the possibility of a cash prize so even if she didn’t win the meal was free. She decided to enter and won another $138 in her pocket this day seemed to be perfect minus the whole memory thing. Another contestant started talking to her and she found out he was a scientist and he was upset because the labs mascot crocodile had run away and they couldn’t get another one for another month and they had to have one for their lab work Starlit told the scientist about the crocodile she found in the pipes it turned out to be the one the science facility had lost he was so happy that he paid Starlit $150 finder fee. She had a full belly and money burning in her pocket so she went on to the concert at the stadium it cost $60 she thought that was kind of steep but decided she deserved it. The concert was awesome and after-wards the band came around to meet the fans and that’s when Starlit met DeAndre Wolf a lead guitarist in the band they hit it off right away and he invited her home with him.



Starlit was thrilled to have made a new friend and gladly accepted the offer not thinking of his intent. He tried kissing her as soon as they made it in the door of his mansion. She stopped him and told him she didn’t know him well enough for that he apologized and said he had the wrong impression. He invited her for a drink of juice at his bar; she accepted little did she know he slipped some vodka in the juice. Before she knew it she had 7 drinks and wasn’t feeling well, he soothed her and asked her to spend the night she accepted. He fixed her a few more drinks promising it would make her feel better she accepted them not wanting to be rude and drank till she lost control the next thing she knew she was waking up the next morning in his bed. She sat up quickly trying to remember the night and got images of them woohooing. Embarrassed she got up and took a shower trying to wash away the night, DeAndre came in and declared that she was acting inappropriate and if she continued he would ask her to leave she didn’t understand how she was acting inappropriate but hurried her shower and quickly got dressed. Starlit’s stomach was quizzy and her head hurt so she decided to get some bread and jam to sooth her hopeing to feel better, DeAndre came in again and declared she was being rude and kicked her out. Starlit was hurt and not understanding she rode her bike back to the park and tried to forget about DeAndre determined to continue he search of her identity. She continued fixing up the park for the next few weeks careful not to touch the dieing trees surrounding the park blocking her little place in the world from outside eyes. She couldn’t forget about DeAndre though no matter how mach she thought she could because she soon found out she was pregnant. Starlit rode her bike to DeAndre's house as much as she didn’t want to tell him she was pregnant with his baby.



DeAndre was irate called her a tramp and accused her of trying to trap him into fatherhood for his money he declared he wasn’t the baby's father and told her to go find the baby’s real father. Starlit tried to tell him she hadn’t been with anyone else but he called her a liar and kicked her out of his house. Starlit disbelieving that anyone could be that cruel rode her bike back to her little park in tears. Starlit knew she couldn’t go to the hospital because she was homeless and didn’t even know who she was they would surely take the baby from her, she would also have to stop going to town before she started showing so no one knew. Starlit made a plan right there to go get everything she needed to make stuff for the baby she couldn’t get pre-made stuff as that would give it away she went to the local market in town and spent most of her savings on lumber, and nails for a crib, fabric, needles, and thread for clothes and blankets, seeds to plant to get her through the next nine months. Starlit was about to leave the market when she saw a teddy bear She didn’t figure anyone would notice if she got the teddy bear as adults liked teddy bears too right?



Little did she know Dr. Valcorealo had walked in the market and seen her purchases the teddy bear, He took a quick inventory of her other purchases and put two and two together, and guessed she was pregnant you see she made one subconscious mistake that she didn’t realize, the fabrics she chose were kiddy print. Even though Starlit didn’t realize it Dr. Valcorealo had been keeping a close eye on her because she touched a spot in his heart that even he didn’t realize was there. He had easily discovered her plan to live at the park because the night that she had left the hospital he went to the park to make sure she was ok guessing she would want to go straight there instead of spending the money on a hotel in town for the night before visiting the park and he found her sleeping on the park bench like an angel. He quietly left and went home a plan forming in his mind he went and grabbed a bunch of items he didn’t really need not like she would and took them to the junk yard next to the park before she woke up figuring that she would try to salvage stuff to earn extra money. The Junk yard was rarely visited by the town locals because it was so far away from town and there were new junk yards closer to town so he knew she would be the one to get it. He also knew she wouldn’t accept charity because it was like pulling teeth to get her to take the $200 he gave her the day she left the hospital, She wouldn't take it till he insisted it was policy in circumstances like these. He didn’t want anything to happen to her or her unborn baby especially since she lost her last baby to a monster. Dr. Valcorealo knew he was bound by ethics to go to the authorities because she was homeless and unable to take care of a newborn like the state thought she should. Shouldn’t she have a chance though? Sims were able to take care of babies in the old days so shouldn’t she at least be able to try? Dr. Valcorealo decided to give her a chance and hope she didn’t let him down he made a point to keep a closer eye on her for now and that’s just what he did.



For the next nine moths he visited her park hiding behind the old dieing trees so she wouldn't see him as much as possible and while she was sleeping he snuck up and put vitamins in her water supply and as quietly and gently as possible he did check ups on her making sure the baby was ok hoping the whole time that she didn’t wake up for fear of frightening her but at the same time worrying because she didn’t wake up because it could just as easily be the monster that hurt her sneaking up on her to hurt her again and possibly finish the job this time. The closer it came to her due date he found himself having other doctors cover his shifts more and more until he was almost never at the hospital anymore. He continued stocking the junkyard with stuff she could use buying new stuff and making it look old so she would never know He also threw in some books on pregnancy and labor and delivery so she would know what to expect. He was there the day she gave birth to her beautiful baby girl, it took everything he had in him not to run and help her with the delivery but he knew that if he did she would freak and that could put her and the baby in jeopardy and if she and the baby did manage to get through it with the extra stress she would likely run and he wouldn't be able to help her anymore. So he stood there and watched determined not to jump in unless she needed him. Luckily she was prepared the books he had left at the junk yard were useful to her and she delivered Dawn with no complications.








Starlit was surprised and glad that she was able to deliver Dawn with no complications and she silently thanked whoever had thrown away those books on pregnancy and delivery because without them she may not have made it through the delivery and most importantly Dawn may not have made it through the delivery. Starlit thought long and hard about what she would name her precious Dawn and the only name that stuck was Dawn. Dawn is a new beginning to each day and that’s what she was, a new beginning. Before she became use to the idea of being pregnant all Starlit could think about was learning the truth to her past but after Dawn started moving and growing inside her all she could think about was her future and the future of her unborn baby. She still wanted to know what happened to her who she was and where she came from but all that really mattered now was the future of her baby. Its amazing at how motherhood could change you even before you really become a mother. During Starlit’s pregnancy she managed not to have to go back into town she planted a little garden that was thriving well and continued to visit the junk yard but only took things she could use not items she could sell. She was disappointed that the only shelter she had a small pavilion above her bench collapsed and she had to use the lumber she had bought to make Dawn's crib to rebuild the pavilion or her baby and she would have no shelter from the rain.



Dr. Valcorealo watched Starlit and Dawn from behind the trees.



Starlit seemed to be a natural mother and despite her circumstances she was taking excellent care of Dawn much better than most moms he had seen in all his years of being a dr. He watched Starlit put Dawn down on the bench that had become her temporary crib and tried to think of how to get a crib to the baby without Starlit suspecting or finding out what he had been doing. He had a feeling that Starlit wouldnt just use a crib if he took it to the junk yard because she would be worried about how safe it would be. . Dr. Valcorealo had already seen how handy Starlit was with a hammer and nails when she rebuilt the pavilion and wondered if the reason she bought the lumber was to build a crib, he decided that he would take wood and nails to the junk yard as soon as she went to sleep that night.



That night Starlit couldn't sleep she sat and watched her little miracle Dawn sleeping. Starlit began worrying about how Dawn could possibly have a good life with Starlit as her mother, Starlit had no idea as to who she was or where she came from and the way it was looking she had no chance of a future better than the present without having money, she couldn't go into town with Dawn and she didn't think DeAndre would help her... Starlit had to figure out how to make a life for her daughter and herself... Dawn woke up hungry, Starlit breast fed her and decided to walk over to the junk yard and see if there was anything she could use.



When Starlit got to the junk yard she placed Dawn on her blanket and perceived to go through the junk piles. Starlit heard a noise from behind her and jumped up. She turned around and was shocked to find Dr Valcorealo putting wood in a pile. She gasped aloud before she realized it that caught his attention he turned around and looked directly at Starlit. Starlit stood frozen with fear "What is he doing here especially at this hour? Is this it? Am I about to loose my precious daughter? What kind of mother would bring her child to a junk yard and lay her on a blanket on the ground? He wont understand, he will call the cops and a social worker and they will take my Dawn away from me and may even through me in jail for child neglect. " she thought all this to herself and couldn't take it she burst into uncontrollable tears. Dr Valcorealo was shocked to see her she should be asleep, she had just caught him trying to help her. "Why is she crying? Had the person that hurt her returned? Did she remember what happened to her?" he silently thought. Dr Valcorealo never was one to be able to handle a woman's tears and he quickly rushed over to Starlit to comfort her. "Please tell me whats wrong and maybe we can fix it" Dr Valcorealo said to Starlit. "There is no fixing it I am going to lose my baby and go to jail for child neglect" Starlit said " Now tell me why you think that " he said. What kind of mother would bring her child to a junk yard and lay her on a blanket on the ground?" Starlit said. "The kind of mother that would do anything to try to protect her daughter and make a life for her" he said "Your a doctor you have to tell the state and they wont see it that way" Starlit replied. Dr Valcorealo decided it was time to be honest with Starlit. " Starlit Don't worry grab Dawn and come inside and sit with me I need to talk to you" " How do you know Dawns name?" Starlit was beginning to panic who was this guy how did he know my baby's name Whats going on? Starlit decided that the only way she would know these answers was to do as he asked and she knew she had no other choice, She had no where to go She just had to hope that Dr Valcorealo was true to his word and that she really didn't have to worry. Starlit went and joined Dr Valcorealo on the couch.



"First I want you to call me Travis, Second I want you to know that the day you left the hospital you may have forgotten me but I didn't forget you. I have been watching you and bringing stuff that you could use to the junk yard. While you were sleeping I checked on Dawn and I was there the day you gave birth to Dawn. If I was going to turn you into the social worker I would have done it already. I want to help you not hurt you. I think you are a better mother with almost nothing than most mothers who have everything. I dont know what it is but something about you touched my heart that day at the hospital and I refuse to ignore it. I am here for you and Dawn and I will continue to be even if you dont want me to be. I will give a choice you have made that park into a home it needs work but its a good start and I bought it from city hall so that there are no complications to you staying there. You cant get arrested for being there if the owner doesn't press charges, Or you can come to live at my house with me. I will help you with Dawn get her what she needs and watch her or hire a baby sitter to watch her." Starlit slumped down in the couch letting this all sink in. How had she not known he was there? She had thought she felt like she was being watched at times but had put it off as she was just being paranoid. She had a choice she had to make. She had become rather fond of the park and the thought of leaving it tore at her heart but she knew it would take alot to make it habitable for her daughter so that the social workers didn't take her daughter away from her if they ever discovered her there. She could go to live with Dr Valcorealo or rather Dr Travis Valcorealo, but she wasn't sure that would be her best bet how would she remember who she was if she had no reminders to help her remember? " I want to stay at my park sorry your park but I want to make it on my own. I know I cant do it all by myself I know I need help so that they dont take Dawn away from me. I need someone to watch her so that I can get the money I need to make our life work and then maybe I will be able to buy the park from you one day." " I will help you in any way I can, you can bring Dawn to my house when I cant watch her myself with the hours I work at the hospital and I will hire a baby sitter for you. I know you don't monetary help but I am going to get you the lumber to build a small shelter to sleep in and a crib for Dawn, I brought an old stroller for her to sleep in until then. I am also going to get you a cell phone so you can call me anytime you need me. None of this is negotiable. This way if someone else finds you at the park they cant take Dawn away from you because you have a shelter and the items you need for Dawn. "












The next year seemed to pass like a breeze, Starlit and Travis started a routine, Travis moved to the night shift so he could watch Dawn during the day and Starlit went collecting for precious gems, stones, and rocks, Who would have thought there would be so many valuable rocks in Twinbrook? Starlit’s garden was thriving and producing more vegetation than her or Dawn could ever eat so she started selling the extra vegetation and extra fish she caught to the local grocery store. Starlet was true to her word and let Travis help her build a small shelter for Dawn but she drew the line at the size of the building it was for Dawn and Dawn only. It was about the size of a small shed just big enough for Dawns new Crib and the toys that Travis kept bringing Dawn, How does the child of a homeless woman come up with SOO MANY toys? Travis was going to spoil Dawn. Starlit was starting to get a little nest egg put away and she now had a whole $5032 saved up. It wasn’t much to most people but to Starlit it was like gold. That was a $5032 closer to being able to buy the park from Travis and being able to build a house, a real house . Starlit decided she waned to build a house around the lake she had ideas in her head about her beautiful park and what it could become. It would take a lot more money than what she had now but that’s OK she just had to take baby steps to get there, Starlit went to city hall and looked up public records and found out that Travis paid $19,000 for her park and so that was her goal for now $13,968 to go and then she would work on getting the money for the building, Starlit still wanted to know about her past but knew that the chances of her regaining her memory after almost 2 years was slim to none at least that’s what the articles said at the library about amnesia. Starlit wasn’t going to lose all hope but she wasn’t focused on her past anymore she was focused on her future she had a chance that most people would never get a clean start and she was going to continue to look at it that way.

Travis was beginning to get closer to Starlit than he ever though possible. Being a doctor he believed in science not love. Travis’s parents were still together but it was a marriage of convenience not love they were paired when they were children and married when they were teens. It worked for them but Travis didn’t believe they ever loved each other even if they did become friends over time. Now times were different though it wasn’t necessary to marry for power, respect or money. Travis had Power and respect because of his career, and he had more money than he could ever spend in a lifetime both from his salary and his trust that was left to him by his grandfather, he just wished Starlit would let him help her more. Why was that woman so hardheaded and stubborn? The only thing Starlit would accept his help or generosity on was if it was for Dawn. Travis felt like he was Dawns father she had him wrapped around her little finger. He would give his life for that little girl in an instant and he didn’t like the idea of Starlit staying at the park with Dawn or rather THE SAME PARK THAT STARLIT WAS ATTACKED IN. Travis didn’t know why but the last few weeks he had an uneasy feeling creeping inside of him to the very core, he didn’t know why, but he didn’t like it all the same. Travis started thinking about what he would do if Starlit’s attacker came back to finish what he started and realized in that very moment that he couldn’t imagine his life without Starlit he didn’t want to imagine life without Starlit and Dawn they were now his life. Was this love? Was everything he thought about love wrong? Could it be REAL? Stunned Travis sat on the couch, now that he knew he loved Starlit what could he do about it? Dawn woke up from her nap and started crying then and he was happy for the distraction. Travis had to think of how to tell Starlit that he loved her but not right now, Now was all about his little angel Dawn. Travis got up and went to the nursery he had set up for her in one of the spare bedrooms.



He changed and fed her and then laid her back down thinking she would probably fall back asleep as she hadn't slept long he grabbed a book and begun reading to her. After Travis finished the book Dawn was still awake so he figured she was up for awhile.




Travis started playing with Dawn and didn’t realize he lost track of time he heard the doorbell and looked at his watch, it was five o’clock already? Starlit was here to take Dawn back to the park and it was time for him to lay down for a few hours before the night sift at the hospital. How had he let time slip away like that? Travis set Dawn down in the crib and went to meet Starlit at the door he let her in and asked her “Why don’t you use the key I made for you instead of ringing doorbell” “This is you house Travis and I will only use YOUR key if it is an emergency” Starlit replied.


Travis just shook his head knowing it was a hopeless battle he wouldn’t win she was too stubborn. Travis went to the nursery to the crib followed by Starlit and found Dawn fast asleep “ I must have worn her out, we were playing till you rang the door bell he-he” Starlit Smiled and gathered Dawn and her diaper bag and turned to Travis “I just want you to know that I am grateful for everything you do and have done for me, I don’t know how I would have made it this far without you”.









That night at work Travis got an unexpected call “Umm Hi. I don’t know if you remember me or not but about two years ago I brought a lady in to the hospital after I found her at a park she appeared to be beaten pretty bad and you told me she had slim chances of making it… I have been thinking about her lately and I wanted to know if you could tell me if she made it or not?” Travis didn’t know what to think he had thought long and hard about the traveler and was almost certain that there was no way for him to have found Starlit at the park like he said he did unless he knew where to look but on the other hand he could have been sightseeing and come across Starlit though why anyone would go to that park was unimaginable . There was no way to know if he was the person who hurt her or just a concerned citizen. If he was a concerned citizen he would want to know how she was but why wait 2 years? If he was the one who hurt Starlit and he found out she was fine he may want to finish the job. Travis couldn’t risk it. “Umm are you still there?” Travis heard on the other line breaking his thoughts. He decided to go with the safer bet “ Yes sorry I was trying to think I don’t remember any cases from two years ago I see a lot of patients and I am afraid unless you are a family member and have all of this lady’s information I cant look it up to let you know.” Travis replied. “Her name was kind of odd it was Starlit Durand does that help?” the man on the other line replied. “I’m sorry it doesn’t. Now if you can give me her name, social, date of birth, and proof of relationship I could look her up other than that I’m sorry I cant help. I will tell you that I tend to remember the patients that make it on slim chances ‘My Miracle Patients’ more than those that don’t. I am sorry I couldn’t be of more help. I have a patient that needs me now I’m sorry but I need to go.” Travis said and hung up the phone.


The man was disappointed that the Dr. wasn’t of more help. He really needed to know if Starlit was ok or not but he had to be careful or he could wind up like she did and he was sure his boss would make sure he finished the job this time. He thought back to the day that Starlit was hurt, His boss had called him into the office and told him to shut the door, “ I need you to do a clean up job No questions asked, if you do this job correctly you will get promoted if not you don’t want to know. I am trusting you with this job and if things go wrong it is not to come back to me. Understand?” his boss asked him “Yes sir anything you ask you know you can count on me” the man replied “Ok then, there is a park on the outskirts of Twinbrook it’s a town about 3 hours from here. The park is abandoned and hard to see from the street so you should be safe for as long as you need to finish the job, the park is next to a junk yard that’s how you will know you are in the right place. I need you to go there and clean up a mess that was made by my father but that will ruin me. You will need to bring bleach, a shovel, a heavy rock, a rope, and gloves, Do NOT leave fingerprints! You will need to tie the rock to the mess and throw it in the pond. Then you need to clean up, and dig up the dirt around the mess. Do you understand?” his boss asked him. “Yes sir I think I do, I can handle this I wont let you down” the man replied. His boss handed him a map and sent him on his way. On the drive to Twinbrook the man thought and tried to figure out what the mess could be his boss always was crooked but this sounded like murder and the man never thought his boss was that crooked. All the more reason to find another job but Sunset Valley wasn’t exactly swimming with good jobs and he needed his bosses recommendation to get a good job if he wanted to eventually marry his high school sweetheart and start a family. The man had a hard time finding the park and almost missed it, it was a good thing his boss told him about the junk yard. The man parked his car at the junk yard and walked over to the park figuring that would be his safest bet not to get caught if a cop was doing his rounds. When he walked through the trees he froze when he saw Starlit. How could his boss be so cruel his boss knew he was friends with Starlit, they had been best friends since grade school. Was this his bosses way of finding out how loyal he was? Would he be able to throw his best friend in the lake? The man vomited even thinking about this made him sick. He slowly walked over to Starlit and to his surprise she was still breathing slow shallow breaths. He forgot about his boss and the consequences if he fouled up the job. All he thought about was Starlit and getting her to the hospital, he quickly picked her up and took her to his car and rushed her to the center of town hopeful that the hospital was there to his relief he saw the hospital and quickly pulled up to the doors and took her inside. At seeing her in his arms the doctors rushed in with a bed and took her away. After the doctors took her away the man realized he just signed his own death warrant and slumped in a waiting chair, he had to come up with a story and fast before anyone came asking questions. The man decided to play ignorance and hoped it work. He told the doctor that he wasn’t from around here and he had seen the park and decided to stop and that’s when he found her she had a locket with her name on it next to her and he grabbed that too. He handed over the locket that he had made for her as a graduation gift just a few years before. The doctor told him it didn’t look good for her that even if she did make it through she may have permanent brain damage. The man thanked him for the update and said he had to go and he hoped she made it. He rushed back to the park to clean up hoping the authorities weren’t there yet he knew the police were at the hospital but hadn’t seen the doctor talk to them yet. He was sure he only had minutes to complete the clean up job. He put on the gloves and proceed to clean up from where he got sick and where Starlit was laying he heard sirens and quickly finished the job jumped in his car and rushed back to Sunset Valley. He half expected the cops to be at his door when he got home and was surprised when they weren’t. The next day he went to see his boss. “Sir I know you said no questions asked but if you wanted no questions you shouldn’t have sent me to get rid of my best friend. Why did your father do it? Why did you send me? Weren’t you getting close to Starlit? WHY!?” The man asked angrier every minute that passed he no longer cared about that promotion or what would happen if he screwed things up. “I knew you would properly ask questions because I knew how close you and Starlit were. I sent you because you are my most trusted employee and I needed to know how loyal you really were and since I nor my father are not in jail right now I am assuming you were loyal to me even though you were friends with Starlit. My father killed Starlit because she was pregnant with my baby and refused to have an abortion even though I told her it would ruin me she tried to convince me to marry her quick and then no one would know we could just tell everyone the baby came early. I told her I could not nor would I ever marry her because that in itself would be a scandal. She was just a country girl, a toy for now till I found a real woman that was good enough to settle down with. She left in tears but before she went she told me that she and her baby would make it just fine without me. I couldn’t let her have that baby no matter what she said so I went to my father and he took it in his own hands. He convinced her to have her baby in another town told her he would fire you, foreclose on her mothers house and make everyone she cared about lives a living hell. He told her if she agreed he would leave her friends and family alone may even help them and he would buy her a house on the condition that she never told anyone who the father was. He had her write her mother a note telling her she needed to find herself and not to look for her, She didn’t like leaving her home and mother but agreed because she felt that was her only choice. My father then drove her to the park and killed her because he couldn’t take the chance of a scandal like that coming out in the open.” The man just sat down letting this sink in. She was pregnant how can someone attempt to kill an unborn baby? He prayed the baby was ok. The man let his thoughts come back to the future Starlit’s mother was sick and he didn’t know if she would make it much longer. Her one wish was to see her daughter again before she died she didn’t understand how Starlit could just leave like that it wasn’t like her. When Mrs. Durand had gone to the library she looked up her daughter and found nothing in public records not even a birth certificate it was as if her daughters whole life had vanished, No Past, no present, and no future. Mrs. Durand thought maybe that was part of the reason she was sick now she made herself sick with worry. When she had told the man all of this she also told him she may have a grandchild out there. She didn’t even know Starlit was seeing a man but she had found a pregnancy test in the bathroom a few days after Starlit left. “Maybe that was the reason she left she knew I am old-fashioned and believe children come after marriage, But I am her mother I wouldn’t have thought any less of her and I sure wouldn’t have made her have an abortion like my mother would have done.” the man recalled Mrs. Durand telling him. He knew it was safer for Starlit to stay gone if she was still alive that’s why he hadn’t tried to find her till now but he was hoped he would have another job soon and he had enough money saved up that he could move Starlit’s mother to Twinbrook so that they could be close. If Mrs. Durand knew her daughters life was on the line he was sure she would keep her mouth shut. The man didn’t believe for a seconded that the doctor didn’t remember Starlit but he properly suspected that the man was the one who hurt her because if the doctor knew about the park he knew he shouldn’t have been able to find the park and when the cops got there the blood was cleaned up so even if she was still alive he was properly trying to protect her. The man decided that one day soon after he got another job he would have to go visit Twinbrook and ask around to see if anyone knew her.


When Travis got home that morning all he could think about was the traveler’s call. He didn’t like the idea of Starlit staying at the park any longer especially not with Dawn. This man was looking for her and Travis didn’t know what his intentions were and wanted to keep Starlit safe. Today was Travis day off and Starlit would be arriving in a few hours Travis decided to tell her he loved her, ask her to marry him and move in with him. Travis rushed out to the jewelry store and bought the prettiest ring he saw he would have bought the biggest but knew starlit would properly refuse it. Travis rushed back home and started preparing breakfast while he waited on Starlit. Starlit arrived with Dawn right as he was setting the table and of course she rang the door bell instead of coming in, “Come sit and eat breakfast with dawn and me before you start your day” Travis requested nervous as a school boy on his first date. Starlit reluctantly agreed knowing she hadn’t had breakfast because she was in a hurry but had regretted it halfway to Travis’s house. When she got to the table she realized he has gone all out this was like a thanksgiving meal for breakfast. The food was excellent he must have had a cooking class somewhere all she knew how to make was fish grilled on a stick over a fire.



After the meal Travis asked Starlit to take Dawn out of her highchair and put her in her crib upstairs wile he cleaned up down here. Starlit obliged she hated leaving Dawn during the day and welcomed any extra time with her even a few minutes. When Starlit got back downstairs Travis was waiting on her. He followed her out to the yard and before she left he grabbed her arm gently turned her around and kissed her.



Starlit was so shocked she didn’t do anything then she realized she was kissing him back, She knew it was wrong but couldn’t help herself it felt so good, She realized in that moment she loved him and that brought her back to reality. Starlit pulled away “We cant” and went to run away Travis grabbed her arm again and pulled her close to him she thought he was about to kiss her again but what came next shocked her even more than a kiss ever could… Travis pulled a ring from his pocket “Starlit I LOVE you. Will you marry me? Will you move in with me? Travis asked without taking a breath between sentences. Starlit stood shocked in place, He loved her? He wanted to Marry her? He wanted her to move in with him? These questions swarmed around in her mind. How could he want to marry her How could he marry her she had no past which meant no future. She didn’t even know if she was already married she didn’t know anything about her past. Starlit looked at Travis and realized she hadn’t answered him and he was waiting. “Travis I cant, I need to know who I am before I have a future I don’t even know if I am already married or engaged someone made me the locket so they had to love me its such a beautiful piece. I need to make a future for myself and find out my past before I do anything like marry someone.” Starlit told Travis.



“OK well will you date me? Move in with me? We will work on finding out who you are I will hire a private Investigator, I don’t know why I didn’t think about it sooner, and if you aren’t married will you think about marrying me?” Travis asked in response. “Yes I will date you. I love you too. But no I will not move in with you I want to make it on my own and until I do I will not accept anything from anyone except if its for Dawn that includes a hired P.I.” Starlit told Travis.
